Day 29 - Franchise Challenge III - Pokemon

The B/W games are definitely my favorite in terms of music. Kinda disappointed they used this one for a such a small area. I'm sure most players just rushed through without having a chance to listen. A fitting piece leading up to your final encounter.

Day 30 - Whatever you want

It's Monday again. Just post whatever. Let your heart guide your ears - or the other way around - and post up whatever you feel like. BUT! Let us know why you picked what you picked. If you're given completely free reign, what are you going to choose?

Day 30 - Whatever you want

Because I've been playing some Rainbow Six Vegas 2 lately while I'm still in the process of building my new computer (development hell sucks btw).

There's always something with this menu theme that I love. There's a feeling of gravity and seriousness that's making me feel like I am about to embark in an important mission that will require tactical movement, coordination, and sharp marksmanship in contrast to the things I would usually play. Its Vegas baby, and some terrorists are about to blow Vegas up and about to rip our painisis off. But Bishop is here, and he's about to SHOOT SOME TERRORIST DICKS OFF! WHOOOOO oh wait... Rage screaming can't be used in Rainbow Six.

Day 30 - Whatever you want

When it comes to a song that I feel like doing, I have one in mind. The one I am going to choose is the music for the track Bowser's Castle from Mario Kart 64. Why am I choosing it? Well Bowser's Castle is my favorite track in Mario Kart 64. Plus Mario Kart 64 was the first Mario game I ever played.

Ever since playing the 3DS remake of the first game, the Etrian Odyssey games is one of my favorite series of games in recent years. The music from composer Yuzo Koshiro being a huge reason why.

Day 30 - Whatever you want

I'm actually going to pick something that could fit in day 28 very much as well. It's something that brings quite some feelings up in me. It's saddening, but also mostly satisfying.

Beyond Good & Evil is a pretty old game, but I've never forgotten it. I've actually bought it on Steam at some point just to experience the whole game again. That, and it's one of the accounts on the PS3. Soundtrack is composed by Christopher Herald, who is also supposed to make the soundtracks for Beyond Good & Evil 2 as far as I've heard. If, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is even still a thing that is.

Why I choose this? Well, first of all because of the feelings any of the soundtracks bring up in me. Second, this game has sort of been one of my child hood games that I've played multiple times to experience the story all over again. The story always did something to me and felt really unique. And it also has feels, at least to me. Third, it's so sad that the game was a commercial failure because it released around the time Next Gen became a thing. It was originally released on PC and PS2/XBOX, but close to the release the PS3 and stuff came out. So the game never sold enough.

I'm still very much waiting for the sequel game, although they've been quiet on it for years now. But, they've said themselves that it's not completely off the table. So I'm having hope.

Haven't listened to this song in awhile so might as well post it. Nocturne is easily my favorite MegaTen game, and I think this song embodies everything I love about it. Death and Rebirth and the ability to shape the world as you see fit. It really was a unique experience back when I first played it and still holds up as one of my favorite PS2 games.

Day 31 - Colour Challenge II: Blue

Yo listen up, here's a story about a little guy that lives in a blue world. And all day and all night, and everything he sees is just blue like him. Time for another colour challenge! Blue is a bit more ambiguous than red, perhaps. It's the colour of the sky, the colour of the sea, associated with the cold, with masculinity - if you're really old-fashioned, anyway - with depression or melancholia, crystal users and Moderators here, and a whole host of other things. In my case, I can't get that godawful song out of my head. So, for today's challenge, post a track that makes you think of the colour blue, or that makes you feel blue, or anything blue-related, and share a little about your choice.

Day 31 - Colour Challenge II: Blue

Because I was playing Dynasty Warriors 8 the other day, I might as well post something that matches the mood. The Kingdom of Wei, portrayed with the color of blue. And how fitting i share Wei's overture theme (inbetween levels music) because the story of Wei was quite the sad one. From a failed assassination attempt, to the rise of power, Cao Cao, the founding leader of Wei stood against the odds and tried to unite the warring kingdoms of China under his two principles, Strength and Reason.

Cao Cao and his loyal officers and generals fought tooth and nail against all opponents, from Lu Bu, to Yuan Shao, to all of the other warlords. His principles of Strength, which is the ability to realize ambitions and goals, and Reason -> The driving thought of why we should be doing things, lead them to both glorious victories, and shameful defeats. In the end of the day, Wei, despite some of their defeats, was the strongest kingdom among the warring three kingdoms. It was such a shame that Cao Cao died earlier than expected due to sickness, and Sima Yi decided to double cross Wei itself and form the Jin Dynasty, the Dynasty that eventually took over and united the three kingdoms.

Realtalk: If the Kingdom of Wei was the one who won the warring kingdoms and united China under their rule for centuries, China would be a much more glorious country than the parasitic apes who are running it right now. Cao Cao is not pleased with his descendants.

Even if you have no knowledge of what Suikoden IV is about, just listening to this this piece instantly presents the image of the ocean and sailing. Perfect for setting the tone on what will become your journey through the Island Nations. Even for all the flak this game got, I for one, enjoyed the heck out it.

Day 32 - Your favourite ending theme

All good things must come to an end, and video games are no exception to this. Unfortunately, the end of a video game comes with a long reel of credits, and most aren't nice enough to let you skip through them. But sometimes the music is nice. So, for today's challenge, post your favourite ending theme!

Positing some more MGRR ost for two things:

    1) I genuinely love MGRR to kingdom come
    2) To Trigger Meloetta ;) To provide everyone my own understanding of these wonderful songs. I've done so in several MGRR tracks. I believe I am very spot on with my analysis of them.

The War still rages on. Such a nice ending or credits theme for Raiden after his rather bloodthirtsy and revengeance flavored warpath. This song is as simple as the steel in a blade, and the gunpowder used for a gun = despite Raiden's victory, he knows that he has more battles to fight, and we can feel it. Despite slaying whoever was in his way, from PMC goons, to Mistral, to Monsoon, to Sundowner, to Sam, and even a US Senator gone crazy, Raiden's path is a lot like us. Despite the endless bodies that we get ourselves knee deep into, our struggles and our battles will always rage on. It doesn't matter if its a hundred enemies, a thousand, or even being outnumbered 10 to 1. There may not be any peace. We are only left to fight our own battles, and when we choose to do so by removing all of our allegiances, we are left with no choice but to forever do battle against injustice, corruption, cringy villains, and even our inner demons.

    Day 33 - Genre Challenge II - 2D Platform

Jump! Boing! Like a kangaroo! Platformers! One of the longest running genres there is, pretty much everyone has played at least one platformer, be it a classic Mario or something a bit newer like the Trine games. The addition of the 3rd dimension into video games has done nothing to slow the Platformer down, and it remains a core part of the industry today, with 2D side-scrolling platform titles still be released. So, for today's challenge, post a track from a 2D Platform game!

Something from AVGN adventures. This is music from the level "Beat it & Eat it". A level inspired by Atari porn games that AVGN himself has covered in an episode. The title "Beat it and Eat it" refers to one atari porn game.

Obviously i can't show what the level looks like because its pixelated less than 8bit Atari explicity.
