Pokemon - The Lost World
Most likely a hack of Emerald
(Temporary name, Sorry Captain Arcane, I don't pay much attention to the Games Showcase)
INTRO
What's the point of this? You want to hear about the hack, not me... but, most of you know me here anyway. I've been around for quite a while now.
STORY
Please note:
\v\h01 = Player's Name
\v\h06 = Best Friend
Starter or \v\h04 is your Starter.
Levels of trainer battles are yet to be decided.
PART 1 of the story.
Start in a normal town on Earth. You wake up one morning and go to a shop and buy the latest Pokemon game. On your way home you find spot this intriguing book in a store. It's greatly interested you, so much that you decided to instantly buy it.When you get home, you decide to look through it, and you see all these unnatural characters, and an unreadable language. You the jump onto your computer and look on the internet to look for a way to decipher it. Luckily, you find something, and there are these words, that seem to make no sense. "Bebc Hheli Sipscl Nofne Arkca Namgal." Since it's racking your brain so heavily, you decide to sleep on it. The following day, since, the internet is no longer any help, you go to the Library and search for something on these words. You find that these words are from an ancient society where it is said that monsters were to have lived along side the people. These monsters seem to look very similiar to the Pokemon in the game that you had just bought. So you continue to research, and you find that a specialist on this ancient society just happens have residence in the next town. Excitedly, you head straight home and plan to pack for the trip on the next day. While you're packing, you get a phone call from your best friend. She was asking if you could go out to her house, because she's bored. When you get to your best friends house, and tell her, all about this scroll and the specialist in the next town. Naturally, she's a little sceptical but she still goes along with it, just in case it happens to be true. So you both prepare the travel to town together. So early in the morning, you both sneak out of your rooms, without your parents noticing and meet in the Town Square. After "loading up" at a local store where, you both begin your travel to the house of this specialist. After a couple of "bumps in the road" on the way there, you eventually get there. The specialist, who is constantly ignored because people believing he is a crackpot, he decides not to let either of you in. After trying to convince him to let in fails horribly, you try one last thing. You knock on the door and say the words, "Bebc Hheli Sipscl Nofne Arkca Namgal," and he slowly allows both of you to enter. This specialist looks awfully familiar as if you've seen him before, but you can't put your finger on where. You ask him about this ancient world, and he informs you of the Lost World and how these "monsters" were called Pokemon. He then notices, the Pokemon Game in your backpack, and tells you that some of the Pokemon shown in your gameboy, are altered versions of the monsters from the Lost World. Some were exact copies, and some had been changed to suit the imaginations of kids today. He also tells you both, that if you wanted to travel back to this lost city, he had an invention that supposedly, was able to send you back, the only problem was, few people had come back. Your best friend, stupidly, without any thought, answers that both of you are happy to use this machine, for the adventure. The specialist says that you should go home, prepare, and then come back the following day for the trip. You do what he says, and you both hesitantly return the following day. After everything is prepared by the specialist, you both enter the machine that will take you back to this lost civilisation.
Will you both survive the trip?
PART 2 of the story.
You both somehow survive the trip back in time. But did you really travel back in time? Everything does looks different. You're in an open field, something that isn't too common in your world. You and your friend, are totally confused, and still in a daze. You both then notice these two strange looking animals far off in the distance. What are they? One appears to look like a horse, and the other looks like a dog, but something isn't right, they are covered in fire. In fear of being burnt, your friend is too frightened to go near either of them. You walk up to the dog or horse (your choice) and pat it. The dog/horse seems to like you, and doesn't act in a threatening manner, so your friend walks over to the opposing animal. Now that you're up close, your friend says, "These are Pokemon, I've seen these in the game. I think the horse is a Ponyta, and the dog is a Growlithe." Just as she finishes that sentence, the specialist runs out to the two of you, and says, "Those two seem like they like you." You are your friend look at each other like you are both dreaming. Then the specialist says, "My name is Maple, please come with me." You all then go with the Maple to this Laboratory like building. As you enter this building, Ponyta and Growlithe both follow you. Maple asks, "Where you were are from?" After your friend responds with, "Don't you remember us?" Maple, then knows what's happened, Maple's twin has sent them both back to this time. Maple then explains, that he was also sent back to this time by his brother, and is yet to find a way back to the "normal" world. Since Maple, was stuck in this world, he decided he might as well, just make the most of it. He tells you that he researches these Pokemon, and find out why they didn't survive until our time. He also classified, these Pokemon under certain types;
Light, Strength, Air, Poison, Earth, Rock, Bug, Ghost, Wood, Grass, Fire, Lightning, Demon, Water, Ice, Mythical, and Dark type.
Ponyta and Growlithe were both classified as fire types, but Maple, tells them both, "Some Pokemon, have more than one type. Those Pokemon, are difficult to classify." Changing the subject, he then he asks if you can go find this woman, who supposedly, has found a way to travel back to their time. Then both knew Maple wanted to return to the 'normal' time. And since, that will involve you traveling, He gives you the Pokemon, that you patted, be it Growlithe, or Ponyta. So off you go. You go in search for this person to help Maple return to his time, but will it be as easy as it sounds? Will someone try to prevent this? Do you want to go back? Does your best friend want to go back? And who are these shady people who seem to be everywhere?
PART 3 of the story
As you leave Maple's Lab, he tells you that this person was last seen seen in Oxoq town.
To get to Oxoq town you need to pass through Route 72.
You easily pass through with your pokemon. When you first set foot into town, you find your friend there. She loves where she is. After playing Pokemon Games for all these years, she has finally found the chance to play in a reality. She wants to test herself. "Let's Battle." Her Pokemon is lvl 5. After beating her, she tells you about the Ball Maker that lives in Town. She then leaves. You are unable to move forward to the next route, as it is blocked off by two trees. Due to your knowledge in Pokemon Games, you understand it's important to carry more than one Pokemon to be safe, so you go in search of the Ball Maker. He lives in a little hut to the far corner of Oxoq town. When you go up and talk to him, he begins to ask you questions, possibly to try and get to know you before you can ask for any Balls to be made. After you answer his questions, he then tells you a little about himself. His name is Curtis, his favourite Pokemon is Arcanine/Rapidash, depending on starter. He then sees you have a "Starter Here" and he decides that you were worthy of recieving his Apricorn balls. He gives one "special ball" just to give you your first. He then says that if you were to supply him with apricorns, he would be able to make you Apricorn Balls for a small charge. He then tells you about some facts of defeating gyms. As you beat gyms, your Pokemon will be able to use more attacks out side of battle. He says that the trees on the outskirts of town can be burnt down with the Attack Ember. So you go out to the first gym and battle the Air type gym.
You can then burn down the trees to reach not only the next route but the Apricorn Tree "hiding" behind the Curtis' House. You can then get another type of Pokeball. As you are then about to leave town a strange Lady walks up to you for a battle.She then leaves without saying a word...
PART 4 of the story
You walk out to the next route not knowing where to go. You continue through through Route 73.
Once you get to route 74, you come across a Girl.
She seems lost. She looks like she doesn't know where she is. She then notices you. BATTLE! She has a Snorunt, which your fire type, should easily dispose of. She then get's angry at you for seemingly no reason."Why did you do that to My Snorunt?" She then changes her mood completely, and then looks at your starter. "Can you burn down this tree with your Pokemon?" She then walks over to the line of three trees standing in the way. You are both now facing a line of water? "Since you helped me, I'll help you pass this patch of water. Snorunt use Powder Snow!" You then both pass over the patch of ice, and the girl says, "Can you come with me?" You then warp to the next town, Hydios Town.
You've been warped to the house of the girl and look who's standing there, Maple. "This is my friend Maple"
Maple: "We've already met."
Girl: Well, I still don't know his name.
Maple: His name is "\v\h01"
Girl: Oh, Hi "\v\h01". My name is Laura.
Maple: Laura, can you please leave, I need to speak with "\v\h01"?
Just as Laura leaves the room. Maple begins to talk to you. He asks how is \v\h04? Have you made any progress on the search? And Asking about how first Gym Battle Win was.
Maple: That's right, I know you won a gym badge. That's great. Also I've found a little more info on the person I want you to search for... Her name is Maria. Apparently, you have battled her on your way here.
\v\h01: ("!" appears above head)
Maple: I heard you won aswell. She must have just been ambushed and been in a bad mood. Seeing as she has found a way to travel through time, people are scared of her. The problem is she is part of the 4 elitists and is very difficult to beat when she is at full strength. People can only ever talk to her when they battle to her at Augus Hill. Too bad only trainers that have proved themselves worthy are able to reach the top of Augud Hill. The only way you will be able to prove yourself is to gain badges from Gyms. There's a gym in this town. You might want to battle it. With that pokemon I gave you this gym should be a breeze.
Laura then re-enters the room.
Laura: So are you going to take on the gym?
Maple: He sure is?
\v\h01: (Stares at Maple)
Laura: Great! The gym leader is my Dad. I'm going to go ahead (Laura walks straight out of room)
Just before you leave the house, Maple givees you a few types of Apricorn Balls. In total you recieve 5 balls.
You then leave the house and do as you please, before heading to the gym. But look theres someone blocking you off. What's this Shady person doing there?
PART 5 of the story
This person blocking you off is dressed totally in Black.You speak to him.
Shady: What do you want? You want to enter this gym? HAH!
Maple then comes over from to you and asks what's going on here. Shady then sends out a pokemon at Maple, and charges at you. BATTLE. He has an Abra. Which \v\h04 should easily dispose of. He then calls back the Pokemon he launched at Maple, and runs away.
Maple then tells you that he is part of one of many groups against Maria. His specific group is very noticable as they dress solely in Black.
Maple: I think he must have heard of your interaction with Maria on Oxoq town and has come after you. Now before I let you go into this gym, I thought I'd say Good Luck.
Maple then walks into the gym. Then you battle the gym.
After beating this gym leader, you are able to use Powder Snow or Icy Wind or Aurora Beam outside of battle. These attacks will freeze some patches of water so that you are able to walk across it.
Following Laura and Maple out of the Gym, Maple comes and talks to you.
Maple: I'm glad you're helping me out on this mission. \v\h06 has decided that she doesn't care about going back, so she has totally ignored my request. So that means you're on your own. I thought since now my request is going to be a little more difficult, I thought I might give you this Pokemon to help out.
Maple gives you a Sneasel.
Maple: The next town is just north of here. There aren't any gyms there, but it'll be worth stopping off there. Sneasel can help you freeze the water so you can walk over it. I'm going back to my lab. You can reach my lab very easily from here. So if you ever need to see me, I'm now easily reached.
Maple walks off screen, and you head off to the next town.
PART 6 of the story
To the east of Hydrios Town is route 71. Which has some freezable water there, that Sneasel can freeze to cross and reach Maple's Lab.
To the north of Hydrios Town is route 75. Nothing much of interest here. One freezable lake, two burnable tree, and one Apricorn tree, you easily pass through here and reach a Nitrol Cave.
You can now head into Nitrol Cave.
There's nothing of any importance here yet.
So go straight through to the end of the cave and to route 76.
This is just a small little route, with not much in it, it's just a link to Carbol Town.
Although there is a battle with your Rival. She has a reasonably weak team. Nothing your pokemon shouldn't be able to handle. Then go straight through to Carbol Town.
PART 7 of the story

I'm not looking for any help, except maybe a spriter, that I can get help off once in a while.
I want to plan out like half the game, prepare tiles/palettes, the about a quarter of the maps, and then begin scripting out the game.
I want to do lots of planning ahead of time, so once I start scripting, I don't have to think, and I can just do it all, because it has all been planned. I just want a lot of things well ahead of time.
So if I'm not going to have this ready for any release any time soon, why am I posting it?
I'm looking for some feedback on what I've written of the storyline so far. Is there anything that I should change? Anything I should remove? Anything about anything?
It's starting to look a little like a walkthrough now isn't it?

I thought since now my request is going to be a little more difficult, I thought I might give you this Pokemon to help out.
Maple gives you a Sneasel.
Maple: The next town is just north of here. There aren't any gyms there, but it'll be worth stopping off there. Sneasel can help you freeze the water so you can walk over it. I'm going back to my lab. You can reach my lab very easily from here. So if you ever need to see me, I'm now easily reached.
Maple walks off screen, and you head off to the next town.

To the east of Hydrios Town is route 71. Which has some freezable water there, that Sneasel can freeze to cross and reach Maple's Lab.

I'm not looking for any help, except maybe a spriter, that I can get help off once in a while.
I want to plan out like half the game, prepare tiles/palettes, the about a quarter of the maps, and then begin scripting out the game.
I want to do lots of planning ahead of time, so once I start scripting, I don't have to think, and I can just do it all, because it has all been planned. I just want a lot of things well ahead of time.
So if I'm not going to have this ready for any release any time soon, why am I posting it?
I'm looking for some feedback on what I've written of the storyline so far. Is there anything that I should change? Anything I should remove? Anything about anything?
It's starting to look a little like a walkthrough now isn't it?
