Welcome, brave one! So you are a roleplayer? That is commendable, but do you know what would be even more prestigious? To also be a pokémon trainer!

In the Meta Journey, you travel through a region as a budding pokémon trainer, with the goal of collecting pokémon and become the very best like no one ever was. This thread you are currently viewing, will be referred to as the Meta Hub. Think of it as the main HQ or meeting plaza for all the players and trainers spread across the regions. This is where you can get an overview of what is going on in the different regions, and see how you can join a region as a new player.

The regions themselves? There are currently 4 of them!

Kanto - Hoenn - Sinnoh - Unova

As a new trainer in the Meta Journey, you choose which region you want to start travel in - fill out their relevant SU sheet - and post it here in the Hub!

Once a Region Leader has accepted you, you may head over to the region thread over in Roleplay Casting and start traveling and collecting pokémon! Once you have a decent team, you may also later on participate in actual roleplaying events held by the Region Leaders in Roleplay Stage.

BE AWARE THOUGH - this is not a normal roleplay...

HOW DO I COLLECT POKÉMON?

We'll call this the "Meta Journey" for a reason. You won't be making any roleplaying posts in this thread directly, nor in the region threads. Rather, it is what you do in other threads that matters!

For each 2 IC posts you make in the Roleplay Stage in any normal roleplays, you may choose one pokémon from the current area in your character's region to add to your collection. Simply make a post in your region thread, linking back to two IC posts you have made in real roleplays.

You cannot use posts that were made before you joined the Meta Journey.

Note that every time "IC post" is mentioned in the Meta Journey, we require them to be over 100 words in length. Otherwise they're not worthy...

Note that a joint post (JP) together with another player also counts - for all included players, as long as each of you wrote at least 100 words! Meaning, you can use a JP you participated in, as if it was your own post.​

You can also spend 6 Theatre posts, as these are equal in worth to 2 IC posts in the Journey. All Theatre threads count, except for ones with the Chit-chat prefix

Meaning, even posts in the Hub count! As long as they were made after you were accepted into a region, of course.

The same goes for OOC posts! 6 OOC posts (made in Roleplay Casting threads) capture or evolve one pokémon, normally.

You need to pay for each pokémon in either IC (Stage) posts or Theatre posts or OOC posts. No mixing of currencies at this point!

All these numbers could change if the almighty controllers of this Journey decide that is it necessary!

If there isn't a pokémon you want on the current route, you can just keep track privately of your accumulated posts and use them later :)

CAN MY POKÉMON EVOLVE?

Yes, you can choose to spend 2 IC posts or 6 Theatre posts or 6 OOC posts on evolving a pokémon instead of capturing a new one. It doesn't matter in what way the pokémon evolves in the games - leveling up, item, trade, happiness... Anything works. If a pokémon has several possible evolutions, you may simply choose which one to go for.

CAN I COLLECT MORE THAN 6 POKÉMON?

Yes. There is no limit. If you obtain more than 6 pokémon, your list will just keep going.

WILL THERE BE LEGENDARIES OR SHINIES?

Maybe...! In events or in certain areas, it will certainly eventually be possible to obtain very rare pokémon! Sometimes it can cost you more than the normal number of posts though.

AM I SUPPOSED TO POST "IN CHARACTER" IN THIS "META RP" ITSELF?

Not in this thread, no. And not in the region threads in Roleplay Casting either. If there are events in the future, you might be able to use your Meta Journey character and pokémon team there!

DO I NEED TO BE LIKE ASH AND RED?

No, you can actually be any kind of trainer you'd like. Put a label on it, like Breeder, Angler, Biker, Schoolgirl, Professor, Collector, Supernerd... Use existing ones or let your imagination run wild! Let it affect what pokémon you collect, or don't. CAN I SIGN UP WITH SEVERAL TRAINERS?

Not immediately, no. You will start with one trainer and choose which region to join.

But when your pokédex has reached at least 15 pokémon (evolutions included!) or when you have successfully participated in a completed Roleplay Stage event, you will get to choose between three things!

1 Move your existing character over to another region.

2 Create a new character in another region! You can now travel with two characters at the same time - but always in different regions. You cannot have two characters in the same region.

3 Do nothing and just carry on with your existing character in your current region.​

You will get another chance when your total pokédex hits 30 (across all your Meta Journey trainers, even if that means counting the same pokemon twice since two trainers caught it and added it to their individual pokedex), or after completing another Stage event. Next stop is 45, then 60 etc.

BUT WHAT ABOUT MY OLD META JOURNEY CHARACTER FROM JOHTO?

Ah, certainly. You who were part of the first Meta Journey and have a collection of pokémon you don't want to just throw away... You will get a chance to revive your old self as a modern Meta Journey character - once you hit 15 in your pokédex or complete an IC event in your region!

Meaning, you will need to sign up as a new trainer before you can unlock your old team. Harsh? Not really :) stay in Johto under the new region leader's new rule, or explore another region! Once you have unlocked your old trainer, you will need to fill out a SU for them and choose a region where to put them. And then you will have access to all the pokémon you collected before <3

You can also choose to shrug and let your old trainer be archived, of course. Your very own legend is about to unfold! A world of dreams and adventures awaits! Let's go!

About

Welcome trainers, to the Unova region! Unova is more of an isolated region away from the others. It resembles a modern, metropolitan society filled with large cities and a large amount of people.

In mythology, Unova was created by uniting the warring peoples of the land by twin heroes. They used a single dragon sometime more than 2500 years ago. The brothers started to argue over their beliefs; the elder brother sought truth and the younger brother sought ideals. Their arguments split the single dragon into Reshiram, who sided with the older brother, and Zekrom, who sided with the younger brother. Since they were both born from the same dragon neither could defeat the other and the brothers declared that there was no right side. However, eventually their sons continued the fight and both the dragons started to battle again, destroying the Unova region with their fire and lightning powers before disappearing.

Today, the region has been rebuilt and is thriving. As a Trainer in Unova, you'll be able to collect all of the Unovian Pokemon, as well as some old time classics! You'll also be travelling throughout the region, visiting the towns/cities/caves/landmarks along the way such as the awe-inspiring Dragonspiral Tower and the relaxing Humilau City!

Along the way you'll be matched up against the idealistic Team Plasma and their plans to release all Pokemon from their trainers. Are they right in doing this? Will you join them in their quest or will you stand up to them and look for the truth of the Trainer and Pokemon relationship or even chase your own ideals? How will you shape the future of Unova? Many obstacles and more will be present on your journey, it's all in your hands how you will shape the future.

Will you join the greatest region there is and fight for your beliefs? Of course you will! You even get one of the coolest starters the world has ever seen!

Welcome to the Hoenn Region, a vast tropical land filled to the brim with exotic locations and boundless oceans. and oceans, and some more oceans This beautiful region, created by the legendary pokémon, Groudon and Kyogre, is a treasure trove of fun and adventure just waiting for a young pokémon trainer such as yourself to explore its riches.

As a trainer, you'll journey across the region and see what it has to offer, encountering all 202 of the pokémon in the Hoenn poké-dex along the way. However, through a number of special events you'll be sure to find some foreign pokés, challenge the gym leaders of the pokémon league, and stand up against the nefarious Teams Aqua and Magma. There's even been some rumblings about the ancient legendaries, Groudon and Kyogre... Who knows the adventures that await you? Only you can find out.

Welcome to the region that started it all: Kanto! The beginning of the original adventure, the place where the most iconic pokémon can be found, and the base of operations for the malicious Team Rocket!

On your way through this region, you will not only collect the original 151 pokémon, but exotic immigrating breeds from other regions might make an appearance once in a while, and you are sure to stumble into pokémon capturing events, fight back against Team Rocket scenarios and be thrown into various adventures together with Kanto's gym leaders!
