Completed my electric mono on FR Omega- and let me just say that Ampharos was annoying. Very annoying.

- saved abomnisnow from team flare, was given its mega stone
- made it out of the snow, was challenged by calem yet again to a battle infront of the gym
- arrived at anistar city and bought a cute outfit
- was informed about Xerneas
- felt really bad for an old man living in anistar so i went to find him a young pokemon to take care of
- caught a lvl 4 pikacu near the first town and gave it to him
- defeated Calem yet again
- Challenged the gym, and earnt the Psychic badge
- Calem was about to ask for a rematch (he doesnt give up) when Lysander sent out a nationwide holocast talking about killing everyone but team flare
- visited lysanders cafe in the hopes of finding his base and stopping him
- found his hidden lab, defeated Lysander though his gyarados gave me some trouble
- was given another speech before he left telling my to make my way through the lab
- finally got the Elevator key and was told a story by AZ
- tried to stop the weapon being deployed but apparently whatever i tried didnt matter
- flew to geoseng to tear the machine apart myself, no way will i endorse something that steals life energy!
- defeated Lysandre and fought my way to the legendaries room
- defeated the horde of trainers but just after the tree came to life
- caught Xerneas so no one could use it for evil again and sent it to sleep in my pc
- lysander threw a hissy fit and challenged me again, had no problem with his first 3 pokemon but he had to mega evolve a gyarados of all things, barely got through that by the skin of my teeth
- decided the best way to keep xerneas safe was to gift it to another dimension, doing so transformed it into a magikarp in my pc. Good, no one will think to check that!
- was finally told i was stylish enough to wear elegant clothes take that you snooty goits. now take my money!
- was asked to meet the proffessor (whos-name-i-always-forget) in couriway town
- trained along route 18
- was very surprised to find two more fire types, so Glen the heatmore occupied a spot in the pc and Erika the torkoal joined my party

- i must say this is all rather strange, in my last playthroughs i found myself lacking for choice with my fire types and now i seem to have them coming out of my ears
- arrived in Couriway town where Prof. Sycamore promptly challenged me
- my fire team a.k.a Seth had no problems against Venasaur, and mega evolving into a dragon/fire type made it so blastoise's water moves weren't very effective
- did feel a need to switch Seth out when Sycamore sent his own charizard however since i didnt want to risk it hitting me with a dragon move, and Seth was tired from fighting blastoise
- Phoenix showed his Charizard our superior fire/flying skills
- Sycamore left after telling me to find something he had hidden. and that he had a surprise planned. hmm, curious :D
- i found a rare candy, burn heal, pretty wing, an ether, pokeball, prism scale, max potion.. no idea if i found the treasure
- did a bit more training along route 19, though i skipped a sky trainer because Aerodactyl. I'll return to kick its butt once Seth and Phoenix are stronger
- ah, was wondering when one of my friends would show it. it was long overdue... had a battle with Shauna and won as usual
- was then ambushed by Tierno and had to battle him too...do i get to heal? um hello? apparently not.
- managed to defeat him anyway but now my team was definitely exhausted, atleast Trevor healed me before he challenged me
- of course Trevor had an aerodactyl.. although i had considerably less trouble with it than that sky trainers, that said i did lose charizard to its ancient power
- defeated Trevor and was then given HM waterfall by Shauna. though i wish she'd stop trying to have a 'moment' with me
- had to return to couriway town to heal again
- arrived in snowbell city, was informed the gym leader was out, so i wandered the forest looking for him
- found him in a pokemon village, decided to train here
- Finally got bored of grinding, though i should probably have done some more and decided to challenge the ice gym
- had absolutely no problem with him with my fire type team. recieved the last badge
- headed towards victory road
- choo chooo time for the boring grind train!
- had to swap Okiura for Lapras though..stupid surf needs
- finally made it through victory road, got my whole team back
- got bored of grinding so had a no potions test run of the E4, determined i should raise my team to 65-70
- looked up where to get TM earthquake, fetched it, taught it to Erika
- revisted the sky trainer with the aerodactly i skipped > using 'me first' to kill it with its own stone edge was very satisfying. i currently hate that move with passion
- took a much needed break

Pokemon Black Water Monotype Update!
-Got the fossil and revived Tirtouga. Named him Donny
-While I was training my team to get the levels fairly even, they caught pokerus! Had Patrat catch it and stuffed it in the PC while it was still contagus for later.
-Made my way through Chargestone cave easily.
-Beat Skyla in Mastralton with only Donny.
-Ended up back tracking to get a Frillish. Named the male I caught Davey.
-After training Davey, I went to the Icirrus gym and mainly solo'ed with Donny. After he learnt Shell Smash, he's a real beast.
-Made my way through Dragonspiral Tower, swatting Team Plasma out the way like flies and saw N fly off with Zekrom.
-Heading for Relic Castle now.

Update #9: Poison team - Pokemon X

I have no idea where the update involving my battle against Wulfric has gone (I normally keep a running track on Word but couldn't find it anywhere), but to summarise, I beat him quite easily and have made my way to Victory Road.
I've swapped Oomukade out for Hemlock, and evolved Akhlys into Gengar with the help of Synthet (thanks again, dude).

Feral takes on the Elite Four!

I enter the Ironworks Chamber with the intention of getting my most dreaded leg of this challenge out of the way first.
Normally I'd open with Thetis, who'd lay Toxic Spikes and spam Barrier, giving her the most defensive capabilities in my team overall. But my normal tactic won't work against these pesky Steel types. As a result I'm forced to open with Scorpius who has the highest natural defense of my team and will therefore be the most likely to survive any surprise Earthquakes they may have.
Key players here are gonna be Scorpius with his naturally high defense and access to Earthquake, Heqet with access to Mud Bomb and Revenge, and Rafflesia who - with a handy access to Flamethrower - is perhaps the only one capable of landing a status effect. Akhlys may be able to land a paralysis status with Thunderbolt and will be immune to Earthquake, but has paper thin defense so will only be used if I'm certain the opponent doesn't have something crazy like Stone Edge (which, along with Psychic, has been Akhlys' bane so far).

Feral vs Wikstrom!

Spoiler:

*Open with Scorpius vs Wikstrom's Klefki
*Klefki goes first and lands Torment. Scorpius responds with Earthquake which takes Klefki to below half health.
*Scorpius can't use Earthquake thanks to Torment, so uses Night Slash instead. Klefki uses Dazzling Gleam which leaves Scorpius just above half health.
*Wikstrom uses Full Restore and Scorpius uses Earthquake again.
*Klefki uses Spikes and Scorpius uses Night Slash.
*Wikstrom uses a Full Restore again and Scorpius lands another Earthquake.
*Night Slash. Dazzling Gleam.
*Scorpius is left on low health.
*Scorpius uses Earthquake and KOs Klefki.
*Wikstrom wants to send out Probopass, so I swap into Thetis to get a chance to heal up Scorpius. Plus the Water effectiveness is nice but unexpected.
*Open with Barrier. He uses Earth Power.
*Keep spamming Barrier just in case. Earth Power again. Critical hit. Oops.
*Heal up Thetis who's on low health. Earth Power takes off about a quarter of her health.
*Heal up Scorpius. Earth Power yet again. Just under half health.
*No more messing around. Thetis uses Surf taking off about a third of his health. He uses Earth Power leaving her on low health again.
*Spam dat Full Restore. Earth Power.
*Surf lands a critical hit but leaves him on like 1hp. Earth Power leaves Thetis on 88.
*Risk another Surf. It KOs Probopass (I expected him to heal but I'm not complaining).
*Switch into Rafflesia vs Scizor
*Rafflesia goes first with Flamethrower and lands a burn! Scizor answers with a surprisingly powerful Iron Head.
*Rafflesia uses Flamethrower again and KOs Scizor.
*Don't swap vs Aegislash
*Aegislash uses King's Shield. Flamethrower doesn't hit as a result.
*Flamethrower. Does minimal damage and Aegislash KOs Rafflesia with Iron Head. Aftermath takes him down to about half health, though.
*Switch into Scorpius
*Aeigslash uses King's Shield. Earthquake doesn't hit.
*Scorpius uses Earthquake and leaves Aegislash on low health. It answers with Iron Head and takes Scorpius to under half health.
*King's Shield. Night Slash doesn't land.
*Night Slash again. This time it KOs Aegislash.
*Wikstrom = beaten!

I revive Rafflesia and heal up everyone. I swap Thetis around to be first in the party.
Next I enter the Blazing Chamber. I hate Malva's bad attitude so it's time to knock her down a peg.

Feral vs Malva!

*Open with Thetis vs Pyroar
*Pyroar lands Wild Charge, doing a lot of damage, and takes recoil damage. Thetis uses Barrier.
*I heal up to scout how much damage her next Wild Charge will do. She surprises me with Hyper Voice.
*She uses Hyper Voice again. Thetis uses Barrier.
*It's obvious where this is going so I start laying Toxic Spikes while she spams Hyper Voice. Healing when Thetis is on low health.
*Pyroar tries using Noble Roar but Clear Body negates it. Surf takes her down to about a third of her remaining health.
*Hyper Voice. Surf.
*Thetis KOs Pyroar
*Don't switch vs Torkoal
*I heal up to scout out Torkoal's moves, expecting Earthquake or some other Ground move. She uses Stone Edge to little effect.
*Thetis uses Surf and takes her to a third of her remaining health. Torkoal's Stone Edge misses.
*Malva uses Full Restore and Thetis responds with Surf again.
*Thetis uses Surf and KOs Torkoal
*Don't switch vs Talonflame
*Talonflame uses Brave Bird which does a bit of damage but not much. Thetis responds with - you guessed it - Surf.
*Same again.
*Thetis KOs Talonflame
*Don't switch vs Chandelure
*Thetis goes first with Surf and takes her down to under half health. Chandelure responds with Confuse Ray.
*Risk hurting myself by using Surf which pays off and KOs Chandelure.
*Malva = beaten!

Heal up Thetis who's on just under half health and carry on out.
A little disappointed that I didn't think to throw Hemlock out at some point. I was saving Water Sport for this battle. Oh well. I take this chance to go over it with something more useful. Attract will do for now.
I enter the Flood Chamber. I'm a little more confident about my chances against this guy than the Dragon trainer, so we'll see how it goes.
The plan is that after my normal opening with Thetis, Hemlock (with Energy Ball and Dazzling Gleam in her arsenal) will make short work of both trainers. The only difference is that I also have Akhlys' Thunderbolt as back-up against this guy.
As a side-note, this is my favourite room in the Kalos Elite Four. I think it's so pretty.

*Thetis uses Barrier and is greeted with a critical hit from Dragon Pulse. Which is... Unexpected.
*Start on Toxic Spikes. Another Dragon Pulse.
*Two layers of Toxic Spikes are down and a third Dragon Pulse leaves Thetis on 9hp
*Heal up Thetis and take another Dragon Pulse to the face, this time it's not a critical hit and now I know it's averaging around 57hp.
*Thetis uses Sludge Wave and takes off what looks to be under a quarter of Clawitzer's health. Dragon Pulse leaves me on less than half health.
*Sludge Wave. Dragon Pulse.
*Heal. Dragon Pulse.
*Thetis lands a crit with Sludge Wave and keeps taking Dragon Pulses like a champ.
*Siebold heals Clawitzer and Thetis keeps up with Sludge Wave
*Sludge Wave. This time it poisons Clawitzer. Dragon Pulse.
*Heal Thetis. Dragon Pulse.
*Siebold heals Clawitzer and cures him of poison. I should have swapped out for Hemlock but I'm a fool and use Sludge Wave instead. Poisons Clawitzer.
*More Sludge Wave. This time Aura Sphere happens and does basically nothing.

*Swap out for Akhlys vs Gyarados

*Start with Toxic Spikes. Dragalge uses Thunderbolt and takes off roughly a quarter of Thetis' health.
*Land second layer of Toxic Spikes. Thunderbolt again.
*Against my normal tactic I don't wait for either to faint and instead swap straight into Hemlock. There isn't much Thetis can do here.
*Takes Thunderbolt to the face and it takes off next to no health.
*Hemlock uses Dazzling Gleam and takes off about a quarter of Dragagle's health. It responds with Sludge Bomb.
*I forgot it's part Poison, this puts a spanner in the works. Swap out for Scorpius instead who takes a Sludge Bomb like a pro.
*Scorpius lands Earthquake and takes it down to super low health. It responds with Dragon Pulse which leaves Scorpius on about 42hp.
*She heals. Operation: SPAM EARTHQUAKE is go.
*Scorpius uses Earthquake again and KOs Dragalge.
*Switch into Akhlys vs Altaria
*Mega Evolve Akhlys who uses Shadow Ball and takes Altaria down to roughly half its health. It uses Cotton Guard.
*A second Shadow Ball KOs Altaria.
*Switch into Hemlock vs Noivern
*Noiern goes first with Air Slash and KOs Hemlock.
*Risky though it is, I switch into Heqet
*Noivern uses Air Slash and OHKOs Heqet. I was hoping for her to barely hold on and use Revenge but no.

*Noivern uses Super Fang. Rafflesia lands Toxic.
*Use this chance to Revive Hemlock. Noivern uses Dragon Pulse and KOs Rafflesia.
*Switch into Akhlys
*Ahklys goes first and uses Hex to KO Noivern.

*Hemlock uses Dazzling Gleam and gets Druddigon to under half health. Druddigon KOs Hemlock with Dragon Tail.

That was surprisingly difficult and she's done serious damage to everyone other than Akhlys.
This does not bode well for my battle against the Champion...

No but all joking aside I can't remember what she has other than Gardevoir so this is a little worrying for me as Psychic seems to mess up most of my team something rotten, and Fairy moves do a surprising amount of damage to the Dark/Poison members of my team...
I seem to remember her having an Aurorous which is also worrying as I remember Grant's Amaura nearly wiping my team.

*Sigilyph uses Cosmic Power, and Scorpius answers with Night Slash.

I think you should. =)
It's entirely up to you but assuming you can get Hitmonchan, it's got a nice range of different type attacks (in your Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, etc). Hitmonchan's my favourite of Tyrogue's evolutions and it's what I normally aim to get, so I'm not sure about the type coverage that the other two provide. But I think Hitmonlee has good type coverage, too?
Don't hold me to that.
Either way I think it's a good shout if you're looking for something to help against any pesky Flying types.

Always went for him first, as aside from probopass hes probably the easiest one for my team to handle.

Phoenix nearly finished it with a single flamethrower, but it seems we were only strong enough to leave it with 1 hp wikstrom usedd 2 full restored before we were allowed to finish it off

- Probopass -
This guy was annoying, he liked to spam powergem and didnt have a fire weakness. I had Seth use earthquake since he was a faster mover than Erika, two earthquakes and this poke was down although Seth was left with just 3 hp

- Scizor -
This guy was easy! just had Lance use a single flamethrower and we defeated this one

- Aegislash -
Kept lance in sin ei knew Aegi liked to use shadow claw, although i was surprised by the sacred sword attack that knocked Lance out. Sent out Erika and made use of her defense to revive lance > every bit of EXP helps. Defeated it with a couple of Erika's Lavaplumes

Siebold:
i really really hated fighting this guy. it took me atleast 3 defeats at his hands to get some form of battle plan against his gyarados

Aslan started off the match, knocking off half of its hp with Hyper voice before shortly falling to water pulse, Phoenix finished it off with brave bird

- Barbaracle -
Kept phoenix in play and soon learned how innefective brave bird would be, and after avvoiding the first stone edge, we struck again with me first, hitting it with its own stone edge before falling to the move ourselves. Erika joined in with earthquake, nearly losing her own life in the process, but siebold then used a full restore thwarting us and knoking us out with stone edge. Seth took over with earthquake where erika left off, but annoyingly siebold used yet another full restore. one dragonclaw and 2 eathquakes later Seth finally took it down, though he was severly weakened.

- Starmie -
Left Seth in play, used a full restore, suvived a surf then mega evolved to try anf survive for an earthquake. this proved a waste of time as starmie got a sure in before us. I was running out of pokemon. Lance entered the battle with thunderfang, but didnt do nearly as much damage as i had originally hoped. So i opted to sacrifice him and use a max revive on alsan instead. amazingly he survived a surf with 5 hp, so i used a maz revive on Seth too. Sent out the newly revived Aslan when Lance fainted, he turned out to be faster thankfully and crunched Starmie to Death.

- Gyarados -
For the guy i hated the most i sent out Okiura, and hit him with Will-o-wisp, annoyingly he used dragon dance though, three times actually, but atleast it gave me time to use future sight and psychic to set up the next attacker with a bit of hope. Okiura was of course killed instantly when gyarados did decide to attack, but that same turn future sight activated and finished it off. thank god for that!

Malva:

- Pyroar -
Sent out Seth with Earthquake, but it was a tough beast and survived, hitting me wuth a few noble roars after my Fly follow-up missed, it nearly killed itself with wild charge recoil however, but Malva used a full restore just in time. so i attaked with another earthquake, but of course i had been weaked by noble roar so it was like throwing a rock at a pole. Swapped out Seth for Aslan, rendering tis next wild charge useless, and gave it a taste of my lion kings hyper voice, that it still somehow survived with 1hp. Which meant of course Malva healed it again. We lowred its defense with Crunch before going again with hyper voice. at this point i figured id last longer if i used potions instead of revives. After a few more turns, the opponants pyroar finally fell.

- Torkoal -
i countered her torkoal with my own, and somehow mine had more speed, allowing me to use earthquake first, much more effective than her stone edge. just to be safe though i followed up with iron defense twice. since Malva was insistant on spamming stone edge. Erika weakened it further with body slam before finishing with earthquake.

- Talonflame -
Despite its resistant to earthquake i kept Erika out, hoping i could count on those iron defenses we had just raised. I raised another afyer brave bird to feel safer. and took the opportunity to heal the team before body slamming the thing to death.

- Chandelure -
Gave erika a break and sent out Lance, taking advantage of the opponants dark weakness. thankfully his kings rock made it flinch and we finished it while taking no damage ourselves.

Drasna:

I could instantly see that this guy would be trouble when Aslan barely damaged him and it whipped out Surf. Although Lance's foul play seemed to work pretty well and it was over faster than i expected.

- Druddigon -
Thanks to grinding in victory road the team had some experince in taking on these pokemon. Erika stepped on stage and first bolstered up with iron defense before being swapped out by dragon tail and wasting the move. Lance was pulled in, so we turned its strength against it with foul play, even if it meant dieing to a revenge attack. Okiura stepped in to finish off what lance had started with Psychic, excpet Drasna used a full restore. typical. we employed our gyrados destroying tactics of will-o-wisp, before getting knocked out with dragon tail, it was like they were determined to see the entire team! Unfortunately for them, Seth was dragged in and o it was a simple Dragon claw to end the match. (i had been saving him as a trump card)

- Altaria -
Started with a flamethrower, hoping to burn it, after that failed, just used dragon claw and hoped to kill it before it used cotton guard too many times. and yet again a full restore was used once we were close except now it had much more defense thanks to cotton guard and would be harder to whittle down. Healed Seth before switching out to Okiura and employing Will-o-wisp...which it avoided. We did manage to get it with the move eventually, almost at the cost of our own life. Healed Okiura, before attacking with Future sight being put to sleep shortly after, dammit.At least future sight knocked it out after i used a full restore.

- Noivern -
Kept Okiura in, as will-o-wisp was proving useful, although fast,this pokemon was easier to defeat than i expected it to be.All it took was one will-o-wisp, one psychic and one mystical fire to finish it off.

- Hawlucha -
Erika began the usual way > buffing her defense, whille the enemy buffed its attack in response. Healed as soon as we had used 3 iron defenses, not taking any chances. I find it funny that Erika's quick claw only seems to activate on the turn the enemy uses a full restore. Anyway, whittled it down with body slames and the occasional lava plume, the first of which was lucky enough to leave a burn.

- Tyrantrum -
Left erica in, a hard hitting pokemon should be met with a hard defense, healed on my first turn and luckily it's own moved missed. Learned that my defense was unfortunately maxed, so began hitting with earthquake and easily enduring its super effective head smashes. And for once quick claw worked in my favor and let me eathquake first, killing it.

- Goodra -
Took a risk and kept Erika in play yet again. turns out this was a bad idea and was one hit by muddy water before i could earthquake. Seth was the next challenger, our first dragin claw hit, so did its muddy water, but we survived with green hp so i took another risk and mega evolved Seth for a STAB dragoin claw. this KO'd the oppnant so it was a good gamble.

- Aurorus -
Switched out for Okiura to be safe, opting for my tactical approach. it avoided my will-o-wisp but i planted future sight. The second attempt at will-o-wisp worked, and aurorus had yet to actually attack me. When it whipped out a thunder. didnt do as much damage as i was afraid it would however, and then future sight hit it knocking it under half. Psychic and its burn finished it off.

- Gourgeist -
Okiura slapped it in the face with a mystical fire, and when the enemy used phantom force, we used future sight, well aware it was our demise. Lance filled in to take revenge when okiura fell, just as the champion used a full restore. A couple of crunches knocked it out though, and lance was victorius.

- Gardevoir -
Kept lance in, which might have been a mistake since it traced his flash fire. And then it mega evolved.so we foul played it. and somehow survived a moonblast, only to realise future sight hadnt hit yet, aaw. We didnt get a second hit in though, mega evolving made it faster than lane and he was knocked out. In whih case it was time for Phoenix, our own speedy pokemon. It struck first with brave bird and knocked out the champions last pokemon.

Became the champion.

Erica was still in lead after defeating the champion so we upped our defense like always, before executing an earthquake. or two.

- Sigilyph -
Swapped Erica for lance, and had another go with thunder fang, turned out to be easier to just use foul play and crunch though.

Yeah it should be ok, if you make sure you follow the rules specified in the first post. It doesn't really matter when you started it, as long as the entire challenge follows the rules :) Though you can always go for freeplay mode too.

Update #4: Bug - Fire Red
So this ones finally done. Because I had trouble with Gary's Charizard every time I had to battle him, I took my precautions and trained my team to level 63. It's a bit high, but it was the exact level his Charizard would be. In the end I got lucky and my Scyther got a Swords Dance up and got a Critical Hit Wing Attack on that Charizard. This was a really fun monotype to do and I was surprised by how good the bug types ultimately were. I thought they'd only be good around 4th gen, because that's when the physical-special split happens and when a lot of (good) new moves were introduced.

- Defeated Claire without much difficulty thanks to Ice Fang and Dragon Rush on Gyarados and Dratini
- Did all that wandering around to Victory Road
- Did all that wandering through Victory Road
- Did all that battling at the Elite Four and defeated Lance (although he did give me a run for my money with my underleveled team...)
- Since then I've been doing a little grinding where possible, smashing rock all over the place for Heart Scales and wandering about in Kanto and battling Gym Leaders like a madman
- Currently hanging about in Cerulean City, going to go find Misty, I guess!
