For FireRed and White, I'd like to trade in a Pokemon very early. Is this allowed? The Pokemon in question would be a Sandshrew for FireRed and a Drilbur in White. This is allowed as long as they are a lower level than my starter, right?

For FR, I think trading in a sandshrew is disallowed as you can get a Geodude/Onix/Sandshrew/Nidoran before the second gym in Mt. Moon and the route before Cerulean City.

In White, I also think trading in is disallowed as a Drilbur can be caught before the second gym on Wellspring Cave (ground-shaking spots.) Anyone can correct me with this.

Also, update for my HG Grass Run will be late. I'm finding difficulty in my run as my Pokemon do not have much of a variety when it comes to their attacks. I'm thinking of grinding up first a bit before continuing on my journey.

As it says in the OP, you can only trade in a Pokemon if there are no Pokemon of your type before the second gym.
But, you can however, trade in if a Pokemon is in the region dex, but not in-game (i.e. version exclusive, etc.).

In Fire Red, I think you can trade in Sandshrew, as it is a Leaf Green exclusive.
You should still VM/PM Necrum to be sure, since he's the owner of the challenge.

For White, no, you can not trade in, because as Varys said, Drilbur is available before the second gym in Wellspring Cave via shaking spots.

I appreciate you guys replying. I'll just refrain from trading Drilbur to White. I only wanted to because I didn't think any Ground types were available before the 2nd gym. Also, I'll just wait until after I've obtained Geodude to trade in Sandshrew in FireRed.

Holy cow I've put this off for too long. I gotta start my Grass Monotype.

I'd like to eventually do monotypes for all the types in gold/silver, and I've already completed Poison.

1. Grinded a little after Morty.
2. Evolved Bayleef to Meganium

7. Defeated her after two-digit losses.
8. Went to Mahogany and calmed the Red Gyarados. Decided to backtrack and get the Exp. Share.
9. Taught Rattata Headbutt so I can capture an Exeggcute.
[PokeCommunity.com] The Monotype Challenge

10. Cleared the Rocket Hideout. Taught Meganium Iron Tail in preparation for Pryce.
11. Was actually scared of Pryce because Ice, but Meganium is a beast with Iron Tail and Magical Leaf.
12. Saved in the Goldenrod Tower.
