i say the most useless letter in the alphabet is Q. its just an O trying to be fancy. i hate its guts.

I'll have to agree. Q is by far the most useless letter as far as words and phrases go, it is also the one key on my keyboard that has shown no real sense of being worn (there are printed letters on other keys that have been worn from overuse, such as the A key.)

sometimes if x is not used words seem less awesome like exterminate

E is the most commonly used letter in the English alphabet, actually.

Z is the least used word, so Z.

yeah z is pretty much unused in the english words

Zoo, zebra, zenophobia, (spelt with an x, not z, thanks Jake...) Zen (a company, they are I think), zingy (not a word, but I like it), buzz... A few more too. it is harder to recreate some letter with a variety of other letters (the Z sound is one)

I like all letters, but if I had to get rid of one that is useless, Q. As you can get the same effect from using cue, or kue.

Um...what, Q is awesome. There is no useless letter, together they all make the alphabet. It's like anything really. Nothing can exist without every aspect of it.

And no don't say it can exist if the thing in question was created without it, because in this world, if we took out a letter, a lot of our lives would be affected, even if only to a minor extent.

    /sucks at wording today

Q is useless i noticed you didn't use a word that used Q in your post Forever so Q-0 other letters-4

    X

It can be replaced with multiple different consonants other than X and still sound exactly the same. Having X as a letter is like having a separate letter for TH, or for AS.

Ω I walked down this street with ΩtΩ, I Ωked if I could Ωsimilate the grΩs that is growing Ωtonishingly fΩt outside.

    :\

    X

The English language has made relatively much use of digraphs of late centuries; things like 'ch' and 'sh', sounds most other languages have a single letter for, so why not make X into 'ks'? I would rather we didn't use digraphs, but that's life.
Q also could be written as 'kw'.

    Q. its just an O trying to be fancy.
Despite them originating from entirely different ideographs. Sure. [sark]

Just going to point out it's spelled Xenophobia XD

But yeah, Z, X, and Q are all pretty useless

Q, X, and Z. They're just not used enough, and Q is useless without U.

Qi. There's a word that has Q and has no U.

Why is Z useless? It has it's own sound, it is unique. It's just rare. Saying it's useless is like saying English never uses the "ts" sound.

I agree with Surmonter. I mean, without Z's, how the heck are you supposed to say stuff like... 'Catch your Zs' and everything. And we would have to rename an awesome animal called the Zebra.

I will agree that Q is definitey useless. Half the time it's just sitting there in the corner of my keyboard. Qliphoth - a place from Tales of the Abyss is another word that doesn't have a 'U' after the Q

Though I do not like the idea of everything being called 'Tests' and 'Exams' if 'Q' was terminated.

I'd have to say letters like Q, X, Y, Z cause they're so unfrequently used compared to all the other ones. But I realized in grade 12 chemistry that there is a reason for their existence. All the effed up unpronounceable chemical names for everything. :D SO ALL LETTERS ARE USEFUL AND YOU SHOULD NOT DISCRIMINATE.
