I never understood those types of poetry with specific rules, like limericks, haikus, and whatever the other ones are. Who came up with those specific rules and is there a point to them?

A lot of (good) rap is basically poetry to a beat. Though I can understand where you are coming from as a lot of the stuff that is most commonly heard is just catchy phrases repeated over and over in an effort to sell CD's and get famous. >_<

I would rather be nameless than get famous....... :P
