The Nintendo DSi Discussion Thread

Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii Serebii

isn't a good news source.
Oh aren't you cute?<33
But Eon-Rider's not here...
Anyway... I'm planning to order it from Japan to Hong Kong... I'm thinking about the prices and money ATM... $x$

Do people actually check Serebii for Nintendo news? Wow, look out Kotaku and Joystiq. :p

*off-topic*

Say serebii again... Eon-Rider will kill you... XD

Off-topic: Serebii. Isn't. A. Site to use as proof of something. Try to use a press conference or a site actually dedicated to it. Or maybe even the site that Serebii referenced.

Okay, yeah. You guys need to stay on topic. :| I've let it slide until now, seeing as you have mostly stayed on topic, even when you trail off occasionally, but enough is enough.

If you want to talk about Serebii or anything else for that matter, do it in VMs or something. Quit spamming this thread. People are trying to get some info about the DSi and you buffoons are taking away from that.

This is your warning, if I see anything else off-topic in here, it's going to be an infraction.

The SD card looks like it will be sending the Piracy and Homebrew markets into overdrive. It means everyone will have access to this sort of thing. As for flashcards not working on the DSi, if it plays legit DS carts, it will play the Slot 1 DS Flash Cards.

The GBA slot thing is not going to be a problem. Anyone who has DPPt by the time the DSi is released will have a DS(lite) anyway.
The internal camera looks like we might be getting a videochat function over Wifi, which could be interesting...

If it turns out as good as seems at the moment, I might bring myself to part ways with my old tattered Silver DS.

But I think the R4DS will still work on it... It's odd to see that there is no GBA slot...

Thank you. I'll not do it again.

CycloDS > R4DS

Besides, what's the point of buying a DSi when you have a Lite and a flash cart? I'm going to repeat what I said a few pages ago. The DSi is simply Nintendo's way at getting back at flash carts. Do not let Nintendo win. Alright, I made that last part up just now.

People will buy it for its Music feature, Camera feature, Video feature, Sound recording feature and Wide screen feature.

What's this "video feature" you speak of? My flash cart can already play music and videos. =\ The bigger screen is nice but the camera seems to be a bad idea. o.o

Ever wonder of a chat with video? It would be nice only if the camera is any sort of good quality (which i think it should be though... I bet they are going to make various models one with a suckish camera and one with a good camera) and the video thing... Your flash cart plays them because you have the software to play them in it but this means the DSi will be able to play them all alone without using any sort of external software to run them.

I'm sorry but I don't understand your first sentence. I'm just saying I see no need to upgrade since my flash cart can do everything that's worth getting in the DSi. Unless the camera is extremely versatile and the other features are revolutionary, I'm not even going to bother getting the DSi.

So... are any of you guys thinking of buying it?
Less than a month to go, price confirmed and the official site is already there...

But is it gonna be worth it? It's pretty much the same price as consoles (Wii/360 Arcade), and it lacks compared to the PSP.

I mean sure this will sell to the extreme casual crowd in Japan (like the salaryman in their 50s/young OLs) just like DS/DSL, but how would it sell to people who game regularly?

In a nutshell: Would buying this when I've preordered 30k yen worth of games be a smart thing to do, and would cutting back my food money be worth this?

My monthly budget (scholarship, zero from parents back home) is 60k yen, btw.

Video feature is actually video recording feature... Anyway Nintendo release DSi because Sony released PSPL...(Well that's what I think BTW)

Has Nintendo said that you can run DS games off of SD cards? No, and they won't be. The SD card functionality is for storing pictures, music and DSiWare games. You won't be able to pirate DSiWare games - you can't pirate WiiWare games.

EDIT: Besides, the Wii has an SD card slot which means it has homebrew too. But Nintendo has managed to stop that with updates. The DSi has built-in storage which means it can also have updates in theory.

I think i wont buy it unless it is REALLY WORTH getting it thing that i doubt heh...

Tough you will see a lot of people with them after some time so yeh, old DS will be better untill they really make a significative change, not only adding some things but revolutionizing the whole system.

And Eon i meant with that is that maybe with the cam we will be able to chat like on MSN with a camera? Just that on the DSi =.=

If that thing really is capable of chat, I swear I saw Sony going bankrupt before my eyes.

However, there is another possible problem, Lag. What will its effects be? Yeah that awesome thing got nice details but I'm not sure if Nintendo actually made sure Lag wasn't that strong.

I really hope the PSP flies into thin air with this.

The PSP is a decent system - I've seen people use it to play audio files and classic Nintendo games. xD Really, I have played a PSP. It's not that bad. Anyways, I just want to say that the Wii is getting voice chat (using the Wii Speak accessory.) I don't see why the DSi won't have at least that.

There will always be someone who manages to hack the DSi to allow it to play homebrew. And there is homebrew for the Wii for your information. Solution to the updates? Don't get them.

I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet but for those od you who are planning to import it, you might want to wait since the DSi may have have region locks for the DSiWare.

The DSi will have an SD Slot right? Damn thats going to be very bad because people would be putting game files into the SD card.

By the way Is there going to be a memory card?
