I think as far as "catching" goes, well...here's what I think we should do.

There are certain events that are hidden, but not that hard to find, or by completing certain objectives and then going back to an area, something will be different or changed. You play the event, and if you've completed certain things, one of the Digimon will ask to join your group.

Traditionally, Digimon were never caught in the sense that Pokemon was. They just asked to join the group, and they all went on their merry way.

---
As a group, I think a good idea would be to have a limit of 5 Digimon walking around with you, and a limit of three in battle ( allowing the player to choose what Digimon he wants to send out in Battle ). Recalling the battle system of a Playstation Digimon game I remember playing, I think we're trying to achieve a Final Fantasy-esque battle system.

@Claire:
Yes it would, which is one of the reasons we're not doing that.
But in Digimon World you're more of a farmer than a tamer, so I like this direction.

@Chatot:
That would work, but then again Dragon Quest's scouting mechanic is essentially that but refined.
They only join you if they want to, basically.

That works.

that sounds like an awesome idea and for the other digidestined hmm maybe you should have them pre-designed. :D

The best games are the ones with originality. Albiet, I would love to see a cameo of some digidestined from the previous seasons.
It wouldn't be hard to have a basic player customization system.

Wait, so we'd only be able to get Digimon that the other Digidestined from the show used?

We should create new DigiDestined. Each group (bar two members from the 2nd season) has new ones, so I think we should too.

The player should have at least some input in which Digimon the other team members use... Perhaps after a certain point, you could switch their Digimon out for the ones in the 'storage'.
Also, I think there should only be 2 or 3 DigiDestined with you at a time. Perhaps each one could have some sort of ability, so you need to go with the right ones depending on the situation?

hmm well where is the settign of the game will it be in both the human world and the digital world like you can go to the digital world through your computer in the human world it could be like your tamer home. :D

So, have we any idea of a battle system yet? Or are we going for the normal Final Fantasy Style that most Digimon games use?

I was thinking about doing something like, being able to go back to your bedroom.

We don't really have anything yet, but it's probably going to be similar to the Digimon World DS one.
Maybe with a bit of Pokemon and a bit Final Fantasy-esque too.
