Huntail is okay, but when you can alternatively evolve it into gorebyss my choice is clear: gorebyss ftw.
Not really a fan of it being a trade evo though. Would've prefered it as an held item evolution. Like weavile's, but instead have it be like 'Level up While holding Deap Sea Scale or Tooth while on the water.' (or underwater when in Hoenn)

I always missed out on trade evos in earlier gens due to not being able to find someone reliable for the item based ones. I got lucky in ORAS though; some complete rando helped me trade evolve my mons while I helped him/her trade evolve theirs.

Water dark would have been really cool! Especially since I read once that they sometimes can be a harbinger of misfortune. In the ultra moon Pokedex entry it says, "Deep seas are their habitat. According to tradition, when Huntail wash up onshore, something unfortunate will happen."

Water electric also could be a fun dual typing for Huntail because it is said to live in the dark depths of the ocean, and it's tail will light up to draw in prey.
