In SwSh, Venusaur can be taught Weather Ball and Earth Power, the perfect coverage for it's special sweeping prowess in Sunlight.

Weather Ball can also be used to handle many other threats if you can set up other weather conditions or take advantage of the opponent's meteorological setup safely.

Once the Fairy-type was introduced, Venusaur became a significant powerhouse, especially with a bulky Mega Evolution with Thick Fat, which negates it's omnipresent Ice and Fire weaknesses in OU.

Venusaur also has a Gigantamax form, which has a signature move called "G-Max Vine Lash" which deals damage to opponents for four turns once used, as long as aren't Grass-types and they don't switch out.

It's a good starter/partner to get in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. Not only because its good movepool and TM learnset, but also because it gives you access to Mt. Cleft, a Friend Area you can otherwise only obtain during the postgame, and an expensive one at that.

I usually don't go along with the bias complaints about this line, but that right there is a key example of why people complain.
