When I encountered this initially I thought it was bug. Imagine my shock when a rock type move did little damage to it. Honestly it has a unique design for a pokemon 8 gens in.

Falinks is based off the word "phalanx," a tactical formation of soldiers; i.e. plural, multiple creatures that make up 1 pokemon. Exeggcute is made up of multiple eggs that make up 1 pokemon, just like Falinks. Also I see that one is grass/psychic whereas the other is fighting (and could've been bug). Thus I see them as 2 opposites. Also Falinks is a physical mon whereas Exeggcute is a special mon.
