[The Prism League Season 2]

Hey there and welcome to the Prism League! We're a Pokecommunity based group of trainers who battle for both fun and competitive glory! The Prism League is a traditional Pokemon League style challenge, where anyone is free to take on a gauntlet of Gym Leaders, earn badges, and challenge the Elites to become a Champion! We're currently operating in Sun and Moon / Seventh generation, and at the moment just on cartridge (although a Showdown league is very possible very soon). League Rules​

Challengers:

• Challengers may assemble a team of up to 7 pokemon. The seven pokemon selected must all be of different species, meaning no two team members may have the same pokedex number.
• Whenever a challenger battles a member, any one of these seven pokemon may be left out of the battle. The unused pokemon may change at each match.
• The challenger may retain multiple versions of the same pokemon species to use against different gyms / elites. Meaning, if your challenge team contains a Pikachu, you may use one PIkachu against one leader, but swap to a different pikachu when you face another leader.
• Challengers may change held items and movesets on any of their pokemon at any time during their challenge.
• Permitted pokemon include anything legal by Smogon's OU singles or Doubles rulesets. Keeping this in mind, do NOT make a full team of 7 pokemon only legal in OU doubles, as it won't be legal for any single battle gyms.
• Challengers may face the gym leaders and Elites in any order they choose, but must obtain all necessary badges from leaders, before challenging Elites.
• If a challenger loses against any leader or Elite, they must wait a minimum 24 hours before officially challenging the same leader / elite again.
• Challengers may change the pokemon species on their team, but doing so resets their progress through the league- all badges and elite victories.
• Upon defeating the entire league, a Challenger will be inducted into a Hall of Fame, and may elect to become Champion of the League or not. You can re-challenge the league as much or as often as you like!

Leaders / Elites:

• Leaders in the Prism League have two types. Their teams are to be restricted to six pokemon that are at least in part either one of these types.
• League members may switch out their six pokemon at any time between challenges, but may not counter-pick challengers. If a challenger feels they have been counter-picked, the match will be investigated, and the challenger may elect to battle a substitute member with a team of the same typing in place of the first member.
• Leaders / Elites may choose for their gyms to hold either singles or doubles format matches. They can not change this once their gym's typing is selected.
• Leaders / Elites must use at least 2 pokemon from each of their two typings, meaning if a leader's gym is fire / water type, they cannot use 2 water/flying types, 2 water/bug types, a water type, and a fire/fighting type. At least 2 pokemon with a fire typing must be on the team.
• Leaders and Elites are also restricted to pokemon legal in either Singles OU or Doubles depending on their matches format.
• Leaders may also change movesets and held items at any time, provided again they avoid counter-play.

I'll sign up as a challenger, though I plan to wait until Bank is released before actually battling, as some of what I wanna use is stuck on ORAS and Bank will just make it easier to assemble teams and train 'mons and stuff (hopefully they release it sooner rather than later).

I've sent out challenge messages on skype and through PM's, I maaaay need a sub for Char if the first 3 attempts get stopped by connection interruptions.

How active must one be?

I'm thinking of entering buuut my connection in one of my usual places is kinda dodgy and in the other I end up having to use my phones data so can't go on prolonged battles.

When I get my own place hopefully I can get a stable secure connection that connects to my 3DS.

There aren't really time constraints on how long it takes you to finish your league challenge. Some people knock it out in a few weeks, other take half a year or more.

We're always glad to have another challenger :)

Been trying to get a match with Char for a couple days now, haven't been able to due to timing and connection issues, is anyone willing to sub? I think we can QR Char's team so you can at least battle using his mons.

I'm testing out both my DS' over Link Battle and so far it's not taking much data, if at all, which should allow me to participate. I'll do a few more tests before committing to make sure I'm not losing data while battling (and gives me time to decide on my team).

Pokemon battles send very small packets, so the actual transmissions require minimal data usage. Most of the processing is done on your 3DS.

To put things in perspective, I played BattleSpot almost daily using my Mobile Hotspot on a 2 1/2 week road trip for a couple hours at a time last August and did not hit my 3 GB limit on my data plan.

I'll bear that in mind. I think I'm close to getting to my data plan's limit (2 GB). Might leave it on overnight and see how much it uses (even though I think there is a time limit on battles)

EDIT: I will enter the league. I've been wonder trading for the past 12 hours and used 30 MB total. That's around 66 days worth of battling and I use a monthly top up so should be able to.

Now I need to think of a team to enter with lol xD

Ayyyyy! Nice, nice - could you use that form in the OP for your entry though? It makes it so your entry can be copy-pasted directly into the "Challengers" section. Glad to see your challenge though :D
