The Problem With OC

Yeah.. like a sub-section for just politics and religion discussion is what I mean. :3
 
I don't feel like that would be an ideal solution because it would separate out politics, but a lot of debates aren't necessarily related to politics so that keeps OC as being super tense because now there are just two sections full of heated/heavy debates. That's why I think a subsection for heavier topics + prefixes for the specifics (Politics, Philosophy) would be the optimal solution over just separating out politics. That may make the problem less noticeable but it would still be there. Some of the most heated debates I've had in OC have been entirely outside of politics.
 
I am amused that the reason we want subforums is so that we don't have to look at certain kinds of threads. xD (I'm sadly no different. I seethe every time I see an a/theism thread. Yet, I'm going to restrain myself from asking for them to be locked away in a corner I'll avoid like the plague.)

Regardless. The prefixes idea? That sounds pretty cool, if we're willing to work to implement it. |D
 
I think subforums will work better than prefixes,because as said before,for a mistake in prefix/no prefix become a discussion is very easy.
Unlike other forums,a mistake in prefixing could become a big deal.

Not that I'd lock them away in a corner because you don't /like/ them anyway.

Let's be very, very clear here. This tense presence isn't caused by the topics themselves. There been planty of nice threads about not-so-nice topics that never became arguments. There are a few members who enjoy stirring up debates like that, and enjoy propagating that atmosphere. These members argue, they don't debate. There's a very big difference.
