Anime/Manga The Promised Neverland

I just watched the first episode of this. Holy shit it's really good. Is anybody else watching? Or did you read the manga? Let's talk about this show here.

I've read most of the manga up til 100s a few months back then stopped. The first arc is beyond any other first arc I've read in shonen, didn't need superpowered battles either. The reason for this is I heard was that the writer Kaiu Shirai planned out his manga for a long time, I think a few years?, because he wanted it not to fail or something. And that's why the arc is so well thought out. After that it goes to really good to fluctuating to good to decent to boring. The manga is decent but now that they're back to the weekly writing and illustrating, it's not at its peak anymore. Which is why I stopped reading for now.

Didn't get to the anime (mostly because I prefer manga) , but my roommate watched it and liked it. I am caught up to date with the manga, and I basically share the same sentiments as strangerhypno. I think the pace is picking up again, so maybe that'll give people some motivation to read.

i liked sister krone since day one, and found her death really, really sad, especially knowing she wished the kids would escape in the end.

isabella is terrifying omg. norman being shipped next was totally unexpected!

one of the best anime of the season imo. hooked with the suspense ever since i first watched it and it was so awesome seeing

norman and the others playing 4d chess lol. krone is absolutely terrifying, especially with that game of tag. isabella deserves a good 'ol punch. still believing that theory that phil is secretly aware of the orphanage and the real reason why they're being raised by mama :p

I love this show, I picked up the opening last Wednesday, and umm borrowed a bookmark I found laying around the teacher's office of the show's characters. Haven't seen much merchandise for it at Animate yet, just Gatchapon stuff :(

how is this show going to end happily lmao these children are not messing with Isabella at all, who's straight toying with them for banter. and breaking legs. tried to feel bad for sister krone but you're still buying into a system where you're willingly raising children for cattle and not even looking like Canary from hxh can save you

I've read the entirety of the manga to date and I've gotta say that they've done a tremendous job with the anime adaption to this point.

I love how they have it set up so you're never going to fully trust Ray again. Even though he seems to be legit it's always going to be in the back of your mind.

It's also interesting that they've made the sisters/mothers into somewhat tragic characters. They've been made into what they are.

Ok so I'm caught up with this show now, and all I can say is, wow, this adaptation does not fail to impress me.

There isn't one thing I can say I dislike about the adaptation right now. All the characters are really good and there isn't any that I dislike at all. The animation, shots, and the way they keep the suspense up is also fantastic. Each episode either ends on a cliffhanger or twist and they've done a very good job with presenting both. I also want to mention that I really like Isabella as a villain. She's actually pretty terrifying and I love the way she's presented. Sister Krone is also a notable character to me, especially the facial expressions she has. Her death caught me a little bit by surprise, but I guess I shouldn't have been shocked. It was also pretty sad as well. Overall, this is a really solid anime and I'm glad I decided to watch it.

I demand season 2 immediately :')
