4th Gen The "Red Gyarados" Discussion Thread

It may be overused but that doesn't really matter much anyways. Also it isn't very overused since it never been done before.

Also what one thing I haven't seen in this thread is the mention of the TV newscaster in DPP mentioning that a Red Gyarados was spotted. If I remember right, DPP and HGSS are happening at the same time. So there is our proof that the Red Gyarados is going to be in HGSS.
 
I'm still mind-boggled at the fact that people are stupid enough to think that Red Gyarados wouldn't be in. Without given info I can 100% confirm that Red Gyarados is in.

I'm sure it will be in the remake they wouldn't remove such a big event.

You are too? Cause I mean its a bit ridiculous. Only thing that might truly be taken out is the apricorns but hell we could be getting them due to recent videos.
 
It's Red Gyarados because it's in the water. That could be amazing if video would be in the grass area (new shiny pokémon to catch?). Red Gyarados was very easy to catch in Gold, just threw one Great Ball/Ultra Ball when it appears and that's it... You didn't even try to hurt it...

This does pretty much confirm that the Red Gyarados will be in the game (though why they would remove it completely is beyond me), but it doesn't confirm that it'll be catchable. Does anyone think that they might make it fightable but not catchable, for whatever reason? If they were worried about making shiny Gyarados valueless, that's something that could happen. I'm not saying I think it will, but it's something to consider.
 
Uhmm... no.

It's not really a big deal if it is a shiny that everyone will have. It's not like it is a shiny legendary or anything.
 
Well there isn't really any reason they wouldn't put it in anyway. It's a remake of G/S why would they take out a Pokemon you catch in G/S.
 
Everyone pretty much said this already, but yeah, it's a remake. Not a new game. Red Gyarados is too big of a plotpoint to be just withdrawn from the entire game. It's a big memory of GSC, and all of the veterans who played the original would love to see it back, and the kiddies who are just starting would be amazed at finding a shiny pokemon.

It would be cool, though, if it was a really high level and uncatchable, but Lance steps in and catches it for himself (like in the anime, and Lance is supposed to be at the LoR anyway), and then he uses it in the E4 fight. But like I said, it's a remake. They won't change the plot like that, all I'm saying is it would be cool.
 
EDIT: I don't just hope they keep it. I know they will keep it just from seeing everything else they bring back. It is the only shiny I've ever felt like capturing. I could care less about a random different colored Pokemon...it was just an easy place to get a Gyarados
