    [PokeCommunity.com] The Southern Island

In ORAS, unlike in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, we travel to the Southern Island along with Steven and Latios/Latias. This is where we receive the Mega Bracelet and Latios or Latias even accompanies us on our journey.

So, what were your thoughts during this event? Since it didn't originally happen in RSE, were you surprised by this new scene? Were you happy to receive a free Latios/Latias, or do you miss the old roaming mechanic from RSE? What are your thoughts on this event? :)

I was excited to get Latias and the Mega Bracelet. The music for Southern Island blows me away... I can't describe it any other way. It's very soothing and calm. It's my personal favorite song from the ORAS series.

it was awesome and I was more than happy to get a free legendary pokemon :D

I loved the environment around there and it was fun getting a free Latias. She may not have been my first Mega activated (my Manectric had that honour) but I did enjoy having Latias join with me. Like what one of the others said, OR/AS did a good job expanding on the Megas.

I definitely do not miss the roaming.
I thought it was cool because we didn't need an event to get a Latios or Latias from Southern Island this time around. Got to go to the place and explore it without needing the ticket.

I was very surprised by this event, but thought it was the best thing ever when it first happened for reasons lol. I thought it was a cool "mini break" of sorts from the main game. And no, I do not miss the roaming Latios/Latias. I was happy to be able to save my Master Ball for another Pokemon.

I have not got the Eon Ticket. I got a Latias but I did as a gift. If I get the eon ticket, I can Latios with controlled naturing.

It beats getting them by catching, the music and surrounding really astonishing and they be super helpful on my playthrough and latios was my first pokemon ever mega evolve, I wasn't bothered mega evovled my sceptile anyway

I like the fact that you get one of the Eon Pokémon without having to weaken them so you can capture them. You get to battle with Steven as your partner. And lastly the music that plays while you're there. It's so soothing and calm. I actually stayed there for a while just so I could listen to the music lol.

I was glad to see this in OR/AS and wanted events like this to happen from the start! I wish there were a few more because I wanted to have a longer post-game. I know that the just the main story take a while to make but I would like a substantial pit more post-game aspects to these games so that they are more than just the originals with better graphics.

I loved the new little side quest Gamefreak added for Latios/Latias. Although it definitely feels a little cheap getting one of the Eon Pokemon so early in the game (and for free, nonetheless) along with their mega stone, I still loved the experience that came with the quest.

It may have been less unbalanced had Lati not just joined your team right off the bat, but it was still pretty cool.

I liked the difference in the story from the original, makes this game more of its own then a true remake. I also liked you have to trade or transfer certain legendary Pokemon or you can not get others.

I was a nice distraction and all even though it makes no sense(why does aqua/magma want them anyways), the only issue I have with it was that it was not optional(denying me access to my tropius is a very grievous sin) and needing to go back to the pokemon center to exchange latos/as back for my HM slave.

I really liked the event itself, but I thought it felt a bit out of place from the story itself. It didn't tie back that much, except for introducing Mega Evolution. I guess that's a common problem with evil team actions in pokemon, tho, haha, they don't tend to serve a purpose except just being there. The fact that the player got Lati@s tho, and the way Steven helped with that was really cool, and it was interesting to see it, just like Sopheria said, because it wasn't in the original games.

It was a pleasant excursus and I loved that I didn't need to catch Latias, rather Latias wanted to come and join me!

As excited as I was getting a free overpowered Pokemon I stashed it in my box cause I was afraid Latios would make the game even easier like Corinna's Lucario did for me in Y as much as I loved and made leader of my team.

I actually like the event, my complain is it felt sightly random and a bit too short! It would be great if they can expand the Southern Island's plot for a little more.

By the way, I love the Southern Island soundtrack. (:

I actually really liked the event. I felt so close to my latias afterwards. Im not really a fan of the eon pokemon, but they really grew on me after the event
