[Sword & Shield] The Strange Symbols

[PokeCommunity.com] The Strange Symbols

What do you guys think these markings on the hill might mean? Could these have something to do with the Legendaries of this generation? Is it telling a story? What do you see?

Legends most likely

Kindda off topic but I wonder if you can go anywhere you want.Like could I go run up that hill or is it aestheticc only

I'm going to guess it's probably more connected to the plot of the game than anything else.

... which would make the bigger plot all the more interesting!

I'm going to go with aesthetics. They've had them before and unless there's something you place at the top I can't think of a reason to go up there

I think it's gotta have some level importance. To me that thing coming out of the humanoid-like silhouette looks kind of like a sword. Maybe the swirl on the left relates to a shield somehow.

I'm getting Fire/Electric vibes from this marking. (the flame spiral and the sparks)

I don't think we have a Fire/Electric Pokemon yet, could be interesting.

I'm wondering what those little guys are supposed to be. On first impression I thought they were like aliens but now that I look closely they kinda look like Kodama. (like the ones in Spirited Away)

Those little things look a little bit like Meltan

I saw this on Twitter and it seems like the Cerne Abbas Giant could be the influence for this. It's located near a village called Cerne Abbas in Dorset.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerne_Abbas_Giant (It's kind of NSFW since it depicts a nude figure, though I wouldn't call it graphic either,)

Oh that's interesting! I saw that earlier as well, someone posted the image in a Discord server with no context and I just thought they were meming, I had no idea that's a real thing in England, haha.

Most likely going to be central to the plot, along with some of the rune-like characters present in the rocks at the beginning of the trailer.

^
Interestingly, the rune characters still seem to be in use in modern Galar. In the trailer if you look behind the lucario at 0:44, you can see a couple words written in the runic language (they pretty clearly translate to "Game Freak")
The rune that represents "K" is very prominent at 0:08

By the way the hill looks and that fence there... i think that no, we won´t be able to :(
My only hope of "open world" is in the last part of the map. There are like 3 towns in not an apparent order, so maybe we can choose were to go first.

Looks like it definitely would have something to do with the legendaries for this generation. I feel like I've seen the one in the upper left corner inside a Pokemon game before, and I just can't put my finger on it. If that is the case, I'd love to see what they do with it.

Well my first thought is Meltan.. but I'm going to throw a wild theory right out of left field and suggest a sort of new Unown or some other kind of runic/language based Pokémon. Been a long time since we've seen anything like that so maybe they're gearing up for a new round? Doubtful, but neat!

I mean I guess it is possible you could find an entrance in the fence. Though I guess we have a better chance of open world for Gen 9 once they get used to this

It does bring Meltan and Melmetal to mind, but the main figure is quite far off from Melmetal.

To me, it looks like some giant Legendary is zapping people with its ball of fire and electricity. :P I don't know, the little guy on the far left looks dead to me, haha!

Considering the region is based off the UK, I'm guessing inspiration was taken from chalk figures!

Depending on what the wolves are supposed to be, they could be based on the Black Wolves and Hati and Skoll, then this could be a Pokemon that is supposed to depict Ragnarok. I know that is norse, but they used Norse in Kalos and Chinese in Unova. So I don't think it has to be related to that region.

So I am going to say that this depicts a pokemon that is supposed to be Ragnarok.

And as stated I am 100% positive that the symbol itself is supposed to be chalk figures.
