"Thanks for helping out, Riyo"
The young boy nodded with a slight smile in his face. That was his way of saying 'you are welcome' or 'no problem'. He had been helping out villagers in Imil, and had just finished carrying a basket of bread around for a young girl, who was covered in thick clothing. Ever since the Phoenix had come, the temperatures had dropped down, and more blizzards had blown over the village. But Riyo did not mind. He actually liked the cold. He carefully dropped the package onto the ground, and walked away without saying a word, towards the frozen waterfall within the village. The young girl smiled, and walked towards a nearby house with the basket in her arms.
Sitting down at the edge of the once flowing water. Riyo began to throw rocks at the water, as if trying to make it skip. The rock just landed on the frozen river, making a slight crack, then sliding across to the other side. A sudden, cold gust of wind blew from behind him, which tossed his braided hair in front of him, and the spiky top of his hair all over his face. The wind was somehow calm, yet held a hint of danger within it. He knew that a blizzard would be coming. He swiftly lifted his lilac scarf, which he had tied around his waist, and wrapped it around his neck. He lifted a small part of the cloth to cover his mouth, then walked to the center of the village, where the elder had placed a large bell to warn everyone of the coming of a blizzard. Once he had arrived, Riyo placed his palms onto the side of the bell, and pushed. The bell creaked. It seemed that the hinge connecting the bell to a wooden frame had been frozen. Riyo stood there, staring at the frozen hinge, as if thinking of a way to defrost it.
The wind started to blow even stronger, and more sharply, as if it was able to cut through flesh. Riyo then quickly, yet calmly, ran to a nearby house. The shocked residents of the building stared at Riyo as he picked up a pot, placed it into the fireplace, over the flame. As soon as the water was boiling, he dashed off outside, towards the bell. Standing in front of the bell, with a steaming, lidless hot pot of water, he closed his eyes, and placed his palm to the side of the pot. The water, as a small stream, circled around Riyo, then poured onto the hinge. The bell creaked again. Steam poured out everywhere. As the vapour disappeared, Riyo looked at the hinge. All that was left was a thin layer of ice. Riyo pushed on the bell once more. The ice cracked off, and the bell rang. Although most 'normal' people would start panicing, everyone stayed calm; the villagers had gotten used to it.
Riyo walked away, back to the waterfall. He stood on the frozen water, staring directly at it. He held out his left hand to the side, palm straight out. A small stream of water, seemingly coming out of nowhere, circled his arm. Slowly, it began to grow in size, becoming thicker and larger. Suddenly, Riyo closed his left hand into a fist and threw it at the wall of ice that was once the waterfall. The strong stream of water followed the movement of his arm. The water broke through the wall of ice, revealing a hiden cave. The water around his arm dispersed into vapour as he crawled into the cave, which was big enough to fit 3 people. Once inside, he closed off the hole with a wave of water, which at his command, turned into ice.
