welcome to the cool club omi! bout damn time too :P <3

i think some guidelines should go into place such as those in place for the member encyclopedia. it's early now but i think that after the first 6 non-supporter mafia games have been completed it should be a requirement to have played 2/3 pc mafia games and have had a role affiliated with the mafia and the town before hosting a game. it would help generate activity and allow future hosts to acquire experience. also, it would be nice if there were some consequences for things like inactivity and cheating. nothing too harsh, just something like a one game ban.

i have a load of ideas but most of them require mafia to be separate from forum games to ease confusion.
Mmm I agree with your point about requiring people to have had holistic mafia experience before hosting games. On previous forums I've participated in mafia games which have been really meh because the host wasn't that great, but so far here I haven't encountered that.

And yeah I agree with penalties for inactivity and the like too.

A sub-forum for mafia would be pretty cool.
But how many mafia games do you think we could all really handle at one time?

infinity. infinity gaimz

there could probably be a number up at once, all with their own twists (or not) and not everyone would have to participate in each game. there could also be regulations for when and how many threads can be posted.

edit: oh shit son I just noticed that FG added a [Mafia] tag yes that's great yee

I won't lie, there's a big part of me that would love to see this happen.

Wait, why haven't I noticed this earlier?

Username: H.A.N.
Reason for joining the PC Mafia: It's a game of psychology, betrayal, random voting and killing your friends. Add those up and realize it must be awesome!
Games you've played: Two on PC (Team Magma's Revenge and Faeries and Demons), about eight on the our late high school forum and a lot face-to-face.

Okay, welcome H.A.N.! Also, is the mafia subforum a full go or a no go? Coz it be awesome if it were a part of the RPC or the Playground.

I don't think it really fits the RPC
It would make more sense to go with the Payground

Well, I thought it would fit the RPC because a) most of the players are RPers, and b) Mafia is technically a roleplaying game. :P

i think it'd fit the Playground much more than it does the RPC as well, since a) as you say, it is a roleplaying game, b) it really wouldn't fit with the much more in-depth type of roleplays that take place there, and c) the RPC already has a sub-forum, being the Lounge. adding another would make it confusing i think c:

True, it is like the lovechild of RPC and the Playground lmao, too light-hearted for RPC, and too intensive for the Playground. For me, I would personally would like it in its own forum, but I doubt it would happen haha

Unrelated note but I am dying to join in with some of the stuff in RPC, it's something new to do but I always end up confused as hell

really? you totally should! everyone there is super helpful so just ask around if you need any help. c:

in other news, i just happened to watch the Hunger Games Mockingjay Pt 1 yesterday. so now im super duper excited about the current Mafia game going on, haha. i didn't want to subscribe to the thread to not get distracted from my homework by getting emails every time someone posts, but right now i'm just checking the thread every 15 mins to see if there's anything new yet, so in the end i guess i'm equally distracted, lol

Things are getting real heated on the Hunger Games Mafia :]

So guys, if you had the chance of creating your own twists, what variations would you do? I personally did a tiered system on SMS3, which prevents almost everyone from voting of a specific person that has a higher tier than you, and it adds an all new challenge, since even if you wanted to lynch them, you cant :]

In our Blarzigord mafia, Fox will play as Blarzigord and pull random shenanigans that affect peoples roles every now and again. It will make for a very interesting twist.

I don't really think Mafia fits in the RPC, it's more a game than the writing of the story, although the GM can also add the latter one to spice up the game. But for the players it's just a game. A whole forum seems to large to me, but it could be a subforum of forum games, but being a sticky there is enough, certainly with only one game at the time. And I definitely don't think more than two games at the same time would be a clever idea, because that makes it confusing about who said what in which game and it might lower the interest in each of the games and that'll affect the output as it's so much more fun to play the game when everyone is really into it and active discussions are going on.

Mafia has a lot of possible variations, the roles on their own already give tons of possibilities. I have once played a game in which I put about eight hunters (kill someone when you die) two Cupids (forming two sets of lovers) and some Mafia, thanks to chain reactions the game was over very quickly, but it was a successful experiment.
One thing I really want to try sometime is a scenario in which there are two cities, in each of them, the Mafia kills once every night and a person will be lynched during the day. All other roles and effects can only affect people currently in that city. But, at the end of each day, people can decide to move to the other city. I've never been able to try this, as it needs a lot of people and is hard to organize. But looking at the huge interest in the game on this forum, we might be able to try this some time.

Funnily enough I was just thinking that a mafia game with three factions instead of two would be pretty awesome. I was thinking two mafia-esque groups though.

That'd be funny if both groups target the same person! {XD}
But seriously, it really makes the game more complicated, as someone voting along against a Mafia member still can be a bad guy from the other Mafia group. And for the Mafia themselves, early game the two groups want to work together killing innocent citizens as they should really outnumber them, but later on the groups are each other's major enemies as they both can kill each night.

They wouldn't be able to talk to each other xD

Yes, yes, I realized that, but I meant that when you suspect someone, you can choose to wait actually voting for him/her to be able to throw everyone legit against that person later on in the game when the lynch odds of your own team members are getting higher.
