The memory is still fresh in your mind: that moment you defeated the strongest trainers in the region, and became the League Champ. But even though it seems like yesterday, it's been some time since you reached your original goal.

These days, you spend your time exploring hard-to-reach areas, trading Pokémon, hatching eggs; there's plenty to do in the Pokémon world. But there's a rumor spreading, probably started by hotshot beginners or sore losers: the Champ has gotten soft, lost that fierce edge.

You could ignore them. You could make a public statement to the press, in your own defense. Or... you could get out there and show them all that the Champ's still got it.

    This is the Victory Lap.

    ||RULES||

    I) Champions Only

The Victory Lap is an 'Around the World'-style challenge, and is only for those who have reached The End in their saved game (in other words, beaten the E4 at least once).

    II) Back to Basics

You must choose one** non-legendary Pokémon, Lv 5 or lower, and take it with you to the starting town. This Pokémon doesn't have to be legit, but it must be legal. All other Pokémon that you own are to remain boxed.

**If you want to start with a larger team, submit a request for additional starters with your sign-up. I'll evaluate these requests individually. Teams of three or more are somewhat unlikely to be approved.

    III) Around the World

You are to travel through all parts of the region (every Route, every Cave, every Town), in any order, and then challenge the Elite Four using a team of Pokémon that you catch and train along the way. If you wish, you can use said Pokémon to breed new members for your team.

If you can re-battle Trainers, you should probably do so for the EXP.

In-game trades are also encouraged, should you have any remaining. 3DS users may Wonder Trade once per day. Any legendaries left in the wild may be captured and used.

    IV) Bare Necessities

You can use items that you find along the way. All items obtained before starting the challenge should remain in the bag, with a few exceptions:
    - You may use breeding-related items freely.
    - You are allowed to purchase and use Poké Ball (all varieties), Vitamins, Berries, some Coins for gambling, and one copy of each TM. No other items may be purchased.

Each Pokémon may learn one TM move and any number of HM moves.

    V) Extra Spicy

Feel free to add further restrictions - NFE, Monotype, faint = permabox, etc.

Necrum suggests the following games for this challenges:
Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green
    Pokemon Platinum Version
Pokemon Heart Gold and Pokemon Soul Silver
Pokemon Black 2 and Pokemon White 2

These games are, as far as I am aware, the games in the series where it is most viable to re run, due to methods of rematching trainers.

I hope this challenge goes well, I think it's pretty awesome.

Haven't caught it yet but it will pretty much be vanilla caught moves and I guess Lightningrod is probably the ability.

You're added to the challengers list, Necrum. The list of recommended games is a nice addition, thanks.

    Update:

I finished breeding up my Pontya, which came out a bit differently than I expected. I was set on the Flame Body ability and a Naïve nature, but I decided to keep one with Run Away and a Hasty nature. I figure since I probably won't stumble across another Smoke Ball, Run Away could come in handy.

Strolled through Route 1, didn't stop to smell any roses in Accumula Town, trained in Route 2, healed in Striaton City.

    Current Team:

    Pedro the Run Away Ponyta
    Hasty Male Lv. 7
Flame Wheel - Sunny Day - Façade - Solarbeam

    Plans:

Will be catching a Blitzle for sure, dunno about the rest of my team. I may even just stick with those two and some HM buddies. Then again, I've never used a Munna, and the Dreamyard is right nearby.

Oh so guess I should be selling all the lefotver healing items I have since you can't use them, right? o.o

And what about TMs? c.c Are they allowed?

I've been thinking about the item restrictions. Let's go with one TM move per Pokémon, not counting whatever you've bred onto your starter.

Also you can use any items you find along the way, but you can't purchase anything but the Balls I specified, and you can't use items that you got prior to starting the challenge. I'll update the first post when I get home.

Need to work on moves and everything right after I get some more thing done in the game :) But I will try to evolve it if I can and I will see what other pokemon I can get into my team :3

Well, being a post-game challenge, most of the items that can be found have been found. So that rule could go under some revisions if people start finding themselves stuck.

    Another question o.o

Are we allowed to use Pokémon from our boxes to breed new team members? Like Lapras for example, if we want to use one and don't want to wait until level 25. Or Snorlax since there's only 2 in the game and they're at level 30.

Would it be alright to just breed part of the team at the beginning of the challenge? Because what I'm looking at are some Pokémon with 41 egg cycles and I play on my phone and have no fast forward so it would be painful to run around so much .-.

I'm not too sure about that. This particular Around-the-World is supposed simulate a Trainer's beginning journey. I've been debating changing the number of starting Pokémon to three, but I'm leaning towards not doing that :/

Maybe we could use a Breeder's mode? Or another challenge o_O

EDIT: Actually... just forget it, lol. I'm just twisting things & whatnot for no reason. Guess I just have a different vision of this challenge than you do. So instead of just ending up annoying both of us, I'm going to drop out, simply because I hate grind fests and I find it pretty much pointless without the tiny twists and turns added to it, like the whole breeding thing c.c

Ok, get those moves posted and I'll add you to the list.

No bigs. I've made a couple revision to the rules, whatever you want to do is fine.

That said, I don't think challengers should expect to be doing inordinate amounts of battling strictly to get leveled up. You should get enough EXP while exploring to raise one or two Pokémon. You'll have a chance to capture the highest-level wild Pokémon in the game before the E4 challenge. In addition, there is nothing that bars challengers from using legendaries that may still be hanging around in the wild.

Of course, we are still in the testing phase for this challenge format.

I haven't had much time for Unova lately, but I'm slowly working my way around. I caught a Blitzle and did a bit of grinding to catch her up to my Ponyta. I ran into a bit of trouble in the Pinwheel Forest area, so I caught the highest level Pidove I could find. I'll probably wander around the forest a bit before moving on to the city with the bug-type gym.
