A Nintendo employee leaked a 3DS 2016 game release list lineup and in there was a game called Pokemon Rainbow and said that it was a codename (they tell employees code names so they don't reveal the real deal) So here listen to my theory, in the Direct they say "1996 1999 2002 2006 2010 2013 and in 2016 it all comes together as..."
The codename Rainbow did give us hints but we didn't take them. A Rainbow has 7 colors, these are the 7th Generation games and there are 6 regions plus 1 more which will be explored in the new games but what exactly do they mean by "All comes together"?

Maybe by all come together, they mean you can explore all seven regions? I doubt Nintendo would do that, however.

It'd be fantastic if that comment meant that we'd get to explore every region, but I can't see Nintendo making a game that huge - they've not even given us a game with a second region since the second generation and its remakes, so I can't see them giving us a game with seven regions to explore.

The seven colours theory could just as easily mean we're getting a seventh generation as anything else with everything coming together being Pokemon from every generation being available in Sun and Moon...or even every Pokemon being made available between them. Or it could also refer to the fact that, with R/B/Y now compatible with Pokemon Bank, every generation of games is available on the same format in some form or another, so you can transfer everything from your DS titles onwards onto Sun and Moon.

Honestly I don't think Rainbow is meant like that. I think it's just a code name for Sun & Moon (all three appear in the sky, Rainbow made from sunlight, 7 letters in Sun & Moon 7 letters in Rainbow)

As for "it all comes together" I don't think that was meant to be taken that way. If their voice over was meant to give a hint then the only realistic thing I think might happen is that Sun & Moon will clear up some questions on previous games (like Kalos mysteries) so it will 'all come together' and make sense.

The wording leads me to believe that we will see a combination of every title. We also will tie up other plot lines( most notably ORAS and Kalos). I could see us go back to Kalos and maybe Hoenn.

So I think that will be shown throughout the game.

That 3DS 2016 rumor is already debunked fake the moment we learned about Pokémon Sun and Moon's existence from the trademark website, because Pokémon Rainbow was listed as a solo title instead of two separate version. The guy who tried to spread the rumor, SuperMetalDave64, even deleted his video on Pokémon Rainbow after Sun and Moon were officially announced. Even popular youtuber, RogersBase, didn't believe in the Rainbow rumor either.

I doubt people were expecting 'Rainbow' to be a third version of 'X' and 'Y,' anyway. Anyway, though, the actual releases have names vaguely distinct from such gaiety, although the message there might involve the games trying to emphasise the extent of their series.

That said, we'll have to see if the protagonists don't look like some form of leprechaun from Animal Crossing or some such this time.

"It all comes together" is either PR jargon to get people hyped, or... it means that they're finally bringing back "game-exclusive features" and putting them in this one game (character customization, Pokémon following you, Contests, [region] Underground, etc.). Those are really the only two feasible things I can think they meant by that. I think the latter could be a very successful attempt at "bringing together" things we've loved about previous games. But a game with all regions just isn't doable without imposing some sort of major limitations to keep the game balanced instead of having the third region's first Gym have a full team of Lv100's. So as much as I understand why people would want a game like that, I just can't imagine it being what they were referring to in the trailer.

Um, in my post on Facebook, I did say it was unlikely we get all regions but I forgot to mention it in here. Pokebeach recieved 2 LOGOS for Pokemon "Rainbow" from some "leaker" Idk what that means. But I'm sure it was a codename nothing else.

I feel like Rainbow does seem to relate to Sun & Moon in a way, because Sun and Moon combined have, as you said 7 letters. But still, I don't think Rainbow was even going to be a thing because we never really had a stand-alone main game since 4th Gen, and it appears they have sorta scrapped enhanced stand-alone games completely.

Pokemon Rainbow is code name for Sun and Moon. The game that unites the regions and seeing as all regions have a certain colour... The 'Rainbow' was formed.

There is also a thing going around that there is going to be every known type of pokemon in Sun and Moon, but I dought that..... It could happen though.

As someone who was a big advocate for it's illegitimacy, it is actually completely real....

    1) Everyone 2 set pokemon game has one codename. Developers use only one so no one gets confused. For example, Ringo was the codename of ORAS. Ninji is the actual codename for Sun and Moon and is even in the logos picture url on the site. It meanss rainbow.

    2) The reason the videos are gone is because he was C and D'd. My Nintendo news called out Nintendo on the leaks, and they went after metal dave. They've done this with a few people recently.

And let's not even trust rogerbase. He's a nice guy, but his sources are very inaccurate usually. If you don't know, around October, he went on twitter, and "leaked" that he was tipped off that inklings would be the next smash character and revealed in a Splatoon direct. He was cryptic about it at first( not mentioning them by name, bt dropping hints), but he blabbed about it to his friends and they leaked the info and it spread like wildfire. Leading to massive angry and salt when they weren't revealed, and when people realized how stupid it was for Roger to trust it, as there were and would never be, smash announcements of characters, within a direct for a different game then smash.

That steals the show, and thus they wouldn't want it.

Anyway just though I clear that up. Also the last direct had a majority of the leaked titles in it.

And as for it all comes together. I think we are going to time travel. I think we will end up going to iconic scenes throughout the series and stop the evil team from using the crystals in the logos and the legends, from distorting time itself. But that probably won't happen.

These games seem to be meant to celebrate the 20th anniversary. That's why the announcement trailer was focusing on the history of the franchise. So perhaps "it all comes together" means that the game is going to reference each of the previous games somehow also as a part of celebrating the anniversary.

We've already seen rainbow references in the art in the trailer with the license plate having a rainbow on it. These games almost certainly take place in a Hawaii inspired region. Hawaii is known as "the rainbow state."
