There are still 27 Pokemon that can't be used in any Switch Game

While this article is outdated now and came out before Scarlet/Violet there is a total of 27 Pokemon that cannot be put in any mainline Switch game.

And 21 out of 27 of them are Unova Pokemon, the only ones that aren't are Fufrou, Hoopa, the Pikipek line and Minior.

Do you think these Pokemon will ever be in a main series switch game? Fufrou I understand, they'd have to put all its other forms, but the simple answer to that is just not bothering with that.

I do wonder why so many Unova Pokemon are excluded, though.

imma be honest i was p salty when i realized minior wasnt in sv especially when theres a villain team named team star :(

The Unova mons I can understand. I doubt there's much clamor for mons like Watchog, Leavanny, and Swanna to come back, and the elemental monkeys are particularly unpopular (insert flashback to the time Simisear was ranked the least popular Pokémon among the ~720 at the time). Poor Snivy and Tepig lines though, and Blitzle fans really haven't been eating good these past few years (then again, I don't think they've been eating good at all considering how depressingly bad Zebstrika is competitively). Since Generation V's Pokémon were meant to be a soft reboot, adding them in a game alongside the Pokémon they were stand-ins for (Patrat and Rattata or any other regional early-game mammal for that matter, Ducklett and Psyduck, etc) feels like more work than necessary, unless they randomly decide to give them regional forms or evolutions or something.

I really liked the Unova 156 but even I have to admit that I don't miss Watchog. Leavanny was cool though, and the starters got done dirty - especially considering Samurott got a badass new forme! (But then there's no way of using the original on Switch iirc).

Not played Gen VI/VII but Toucannon looks great, I'd really like to have it follow me around Paldea.

I hope they're going to add Unova starters during this ninth generation. I'm also missing Leavanny, Swanna and Furfrou.
Still I wonder how come they inserted Scolipede in Pokémon Sword/Shield's Isle of Armor and not its counterpart.
