Things you didn't notice for years

I didn't know about EV's and IV's until I got.into competitive like barely 2 years ago.
I figured out what Sp. Defense was 4 years ago. I first thought it affected HP-Draining moves.

Finding out that you couldn't use TM's multiple times until I found out on the internet. (Granted, I started playing pokemon since Gen V) Also found out why people bothered to breed Pokemon aside from giving eggs to friends. :V IV's and EV's also get a mention since it was only after I started getting into competitive battling did I really cared about them.

I did not know about how natures on pokemon effect the pokemon until gen 5th.

Well... it wasn't years, but it did take me months to discover that you could rearrange the list of a pokemon's attacks. It'd really bother me if a pokemon's main attack wasn't the first thing on the list when it came up, but somehow I didn't discover that I could change the order until I'd been playing, and being irritated, for months.

I thought that the Hall of Origin was an actual event. (The one with Arceus in DPPt). Turned out to be an unused event, with location, item and dialogue. I was a bit of a cheater back then.

I still don't know what the 'Free Space' bag thingy does in B2W2. I mean, my bag is already an endless hole, where do I need extra space for? When I decide to carry humans?

I only recently found out that Remoraid evolved into Octillery. I always thought Octillery was a standalone Pokemon. How a fish becomes an octopus, I'll never know...

I also recently found out that shiny Pokemon were really rare...around when Platinum came out. After I already ran away from one in Diamond. ;_; I just thought they were another colour of Pokemon, easily found in the wild.

In Gen 2 games, only 3 Unown forms can be shiny because Unown forms and shininess are both determined by IVs in those games.

Forgot which 3 forms, also forgot if they are always shiny (prob not, since the chance of being shiny back then was way lower than today)

For a long time I didn't know that Brendan wears hat. For some reason I thought that was his hair....

THIS.

I always thought Brendan had white hair with a bit of black to the side. I thought it was both really unique and pretty awesome. Then I find out it's a hat (or rather an oddly designed beanie), and my world gets shattered. A kick to the face.

This is kind of stupid, but one thing I always thought about Poliwag was that the large swirl thing was its mouth, and the little pink part above it (which I now know is its mouth) was the nose. Then I realized the swirl was its intestines, like how tadpoles have visible intestines, and that made so much more sense.

But yeah, until recently, I always thought Poliwag (and by extension Poliwhirl and Poliwrath) just had a really big mouth.

Oh goodness, I was guilty for this lol.

It took me a close inspection on a shiny Poliwag I caught to actually notice that. xDD

I've known this for a while, but I still choose to believe that Brendan had white hair. The alternative would mean that he's wearing an extremely odd hat. o_0;

This. My self-delusion goes so far that I genuinely keep forgetting that he's wearing a hat XD

What. Whaaat?!! WHAAATTTT-

... This is news to me. Imagine a Skitty saying to a Wailord "That's my boy!".
May I introduce you to these. ^_^

It took me ages to figure out how to pronounce Suicune's name. I was pronouncing it soo-ih-soon...which bears an unfortunate resemblance to "suicide", and I think I freaked out my grandmother a time or two :3c It wasn't until I saw the fourth movie that I finally figured it out.

That actually goes for a good number of Pokémon names; I pronounced them entirely incorrectly (I thought Gengar was pronounced like ginger, for Arceus' sake ;-;) until I heard them spoken somewhere or otherwise figured out how to say things.

And...well, it wasn't exactly years, but I had no idea the B/W legendary deer (hoofbeasts? Whatever you'd call them XD) were based on the Three Musketeers until I read something that said so.

It's because Remoraid is supposed to be a 'gun', and Octillery the 'cannon'. Smarty pantsy Game Freak.

For years I thought Sudowoodo was a Grass type, Politoed Water/Grass, Huntail Water/Dark and Gorebyss Water/Psychic.

Ah, that slipped my mind :s forgot about all the weaponry stuff.

Anyway, something I only found out recently was about Lugia's typing. In my mind, it just seemed so much like a Water/Flying or Water/Psychic, and it ends up being Psychic/Flying. It's just like, what. It's the guardian of the sea, and it gets that.

For some reason I always thought Geodude's final evolution was Onix... Found this pretty embarrassing lol.

For the longest time, I never noticed the truck in RBY.
