Both candidates dodged/didn't answer questions. The answer to "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" should have been. "Four years ago we were still in lockdown with many businesses still closed and having to social distance, so obviously yes." There. I answered the question better than Harris did.
With that said, I only heard one person on stage making bizarre claims and obvious lies like:
- "They're eating the dogs!" "They're eating the cats!" "But the people on television say their dog was eaten..."
- "I have concepts of a plan! I'm not president right now."
- They're executing babies after birth.
- I still didn't lose the last election (that was nearly four years ago), "I said that sarcastically."
- "And nobody on the other side (and that "other side" just so happens to be the Capitol Police, by the way) was killed."
Bottom line: The debate didn't make me more favorable toward Harris, but it didn't hurt my opinion of her, either. However, Trump seemed even more crazy, senile, and completely off his rocker than before. But to be fair, bizarre claims like immigrants stealing and eating household pets tend to have that effect.
