Serious Thoughts on the US Presidential debate?

The debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is considered to be a crucial moment for the 2 campaigns, who are neck-and-neck in most polls in swing states. It hasn't technically happened yet, but time travelers from a few hours in the future. How do you think it went? Who won? What impacts do you think it'll have on the race?

I didn't catch it.

I also quickly realized it's difficult to find a proper recap of these events without some form of bias.

(Disclaimer, I am a child and most likely don't have the proper views or life experience to fully understand)
I watched it. How are these our only options to lead our country? However, I am very disappointed in the heavy avoidance of directly answering the questions asked or explaining their plans but I suppose Kamala did better with actually explaining her plans and not whining on yet she could've done a bit better, and the overall quality as I felt it was very unprofessional and they could've used more formal and professional vocabulary. Unfortunately, I believe Trump's campaign is strengthened and will gain more supporters due to some of his frankly absurd statements including the one about "immigrants eating the pets" (Which is absurd and much like the many statements in this debate made by the both was not cited), bringing up transgender medical procedures in the worst way (Providing transgender surgeries to the illegal aliens as he said) and the statements about the border, foreign topics and conflicts. I'm just tired tbh

Try here. It's a direct, word for word transcript of the debate with no commentary. If you're a fast reader you can get through it in a fraction of the time it takes to watch the whole debate.

Both candidates dodged/didn't answer questions. The answer to "Are you better off than you were four years ago?" should have been. "Four years ago we were still in lockdown with many businesses still closed and having to social distance, so obviously yes." There. I answered the question better than Harris did.

With that said, I only heard one person on stage making bizarre claims and obvious lies like:
  • "They're eating the dogs!" "They're eating the cats!" "But the people on television say their dog was eaten..."
  • "I have concepts of a plan! I'm not president right now."
  • They're executing babies after birth.
  • I still didn't lose the last election (that was nearly four years ago), "I said that sarcastically."
  • "And nobody on the other side (and that "other side" just so happens to be the Capitol Police, by the way) was killed."
Bottom line: The debate didn't make me more favorable toward Harris, but it didn't hurt my opinion of her, either. However, Trump seemed even more crazy, senile, and completely off his rocker than before. But to be fair, bizarre claims like immigrants stealing and eating household pets tend to have that effect.

The Wall Street Journal has an upload that appears to be just the raw footage of the full debate, no other voices. For anyone who missed it, and wants to go back and see those 2 hours of video, but not hear any newscasters critiquing it.

I'm not American so I don't watch them, I focus more on the actual candidates since the US is a world superpower.
That said, I read that Trump doesn't want a 3rd debate. Not sure if that will affect his position, he has quite a cult of personality.

Yeah, Harris missed an opportunity to hit Trump on COVID out of the gate. That aside, she did what she needed to do: let Trump be Trump. She even gave him a little prod with the crowd size jab to get him going. Joe Biden can tell you it doesn't pay to be the candidate making headlines after a debate.
