2nd Gen Trouble Coming Back

A little while ago I bought a copy of Pokemon White 2. I've racked up a ton of time, and it's the most fun game I've ever played in my life. Just a couple of minutes ago I turned on my Gold Version, which I had also been playing before I purchased White 2. It was completely boring, and I turned it off after a couple of minutes :(
I want to ask you guys, have you had the same experience? Hopefully buying White 2 won't completely hamper my fun with the GBC series. If you had this experience, did you ever get back into the older games?

I KIND OF feel the same way with just one mechanic... how there are no running shoes in the first and second gen. games :P I find that I can still play those games but I can only tolerate them when playing on an emulator so I can speed it up.

This is very much the same way that I feel about it. The games are still great and carry all that nostalga, but things just move a little too slowly prior to getting the bicycle now that we've been spoiled with the running shoes. Once I get to that point, I have as much fun playing the old games as I do the current ones, but I do understand getting to that point might be a little boring and slow for some.

I'm a bit ashamed to say it but I agree with Brendino and Erika ._. Mostly it's because I don't own a Gameboy nowadays since my sister has it. But also because it's really convenient to be able to speed through grinding and transportation with an emulator.

But on the main topic here - I've noticed that I'm starting to feel this way about gen I. I've said many times that I dislike FR/LG but I still prefer to play those over the gen I games these days. They are just too, well for lack of a better word in my head right now, bad. Compared to what we are used to in the pokémon games of today.

Gen II isn't at all that bad though. I can still play a gen II game happily and like it both for nostalgia and for it actually being an enjoyable game. Crystal, mostly. But I'm one of those who remember when the game industry went from competing with very different graphics in the 90's to the modern 2010's when everything is 3D rendered and looks the same pretty much... Haha, not pokémon of course. But what I mean is, I appreciate old school pixel stuff. Gen II is just my fit, in that sense.

But the most important factor for being able to enjoy G/S/C now after playing B/W/B2/W2 is probably nostalgia. Rely on that and play it for the sake of memories.

Well, Gen I and II are quite outdated compared to more recent games, so some sort of inconvenience is expected when you go back, really.

I have played (and completed) Silver and Crystal this year. But then I was playing on 2x speed on an emulator.

The older generations never get boring for me. But if I don't feel like playing them, there are also great ROM hacks of them, like Pokemon Brown, Prism, Dark Energy, etc.

I can never get tired of playing the older games! Yes the graphics are horrid, but the games themselves are so fun still. This applies more for GSC as I still play the reguarly and have an attachment to them, but yeah the new games definitely haven't ruined the older games for me at all and I hope X&Y don't either!
