Trying to use Bold Gyarados

Okay, so I know everyone here is going to call me crazy for wanted to use this, but I have gotten my hands on a Shiny Bold Gyarados that I want to use to the best of its ability. Bold is -atk, +def, so attempting to use it competitively is probably super dumb. That said, it has awesome IVs and the Intimidate ability.

So I want to build a team around it and give it a decent moveset. I'm considering running a Special Attacking set which may surprise people... or a set utilizing Toxic?

Idk, what are your guy's opinions, and what do you think about possible team members? I'm open ears!

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Bold Gyarados isn't worth using because the nature hinders Gyarados' good Attack. Stick to Adamant or Jolly for offensive sets and Impish for defensive ones.

And Special Gyarados shouldn't be used ever. 60 Special Attack (or 70 if Mega) is just too weak.

There's actually a set you can use with that Gyarados, and it isn't anything too out of the ordinary either:

    -Mega Gyarados w/Gyaradosite
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Intimidate---->Mold Breaker
    EVs: 252 HP, 240 Defense, 16 Sp.Defense
Moves: Rest, Sleep Talk, Dragon Dance, Waterfall

This should work since Gyarados gets an Attack boost when it Mega Evolves (and can further increase it with Dragon Dance), its bulk increases, and it loses its 4x Electric weakness. Fortunately, Gyarados learns Dragon Dance via level up, and all the other moves are available as TMs this Gen. It's not ideal, but that's the best you'll get with your Gyarados. Just keep in mind that this only works when Mega Evolved and with DD. And never use special attacks on Gyarados.

Bold is still a waste of a nature on Gyarados, even if it has a setup move that compensates for the lowered Attack.

Yeah, other natures would be better, but she really wants to use this Bold Gyarados, and that's most likely the best she can do with it. Not saying its great, but I had to give her something.

Thanks for all of the feedback you guys. Rest/Sleeptalk/Dragondance/Waterfall doesn't sound too bad at all. Al in all, hopefully the extra defense allows me to get in an extra dragon dance. That would be nice. xD Perhaps too wishful though.

    Thanks for the advice. ^.^

How about sticking with your utilizing status thought? You can go with Rest, Sleep Talk, Protect/Dragon Tail/Roar, Scald/Toxic?

Just wanted to pop in here and let you know this is definitely usable. Maybe not at it's full potential but if it's shiny then who cares right!? xD

    Gyarados @ Leftovers
    Bold - 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
    Ability: Intimidate
    Rest
    Sleep Talk
    Thunder Wave/Fire Blast
    Dragon Tail

Basically just a utility/phazer. Go for Fire Blast if this is your only answer to Scizor, otherwise spreading paralysis around the opponent's team is the best option.
