Sorry, I thought the narrative mentioned the gender (in the way that Nimsy is a HE for the porpuse of this game), but it doesn't.

The combination of humans "disguised by an illusion" and having "diverse numbers of abilities" could mean, you just got soaked by a human with a water gun (basic one or a more advanced version, where you get a 5 liters tank backpack with a pump, hose and sprayer - cool stuff!)...
Though I do also think the implication of gimme being a water pokémon is pretty strong, you could read other things into it.
