turn it off and on again

Yeah it depends on the device and the root, my Motorola Droid 3/4 (never did root my X 1st or 2nd gen), was able to root without unlocking the boot. Unfortunately my Nexus 7 '13, 10 which I wanted to backup before wiping because they're buggy (Helium for some reason was not wanting to work on my 10), requires the boot to be unlocked. Though I guess I don't really have that much needed info to keep. I wish game developers took advantage of cloud save, only a very few do.

My laptop is just a bunch of fun, it started acting up by the wi-fi cutting out again, which was partially my fault as the guy I payed didn't back up nearly everything, and I only had a partial backup, which I decided to just restore. I haven't touched it in a month or so (bit less?), and now on boot, Wi-Fi does not work, even in safemode, also it just shuts off after a while (40mins?) (plugged in).

wink wink nudge nudge (check the date)

Man, I just used Windows 98 for the first time. It's much more stable than Windows 95. :)

Oh my! Me, I'm running Windows NT 4.0... it's a bit slower, and some things don't work, but it hasn't crashed on me yet at all. Shame about the lack of Direct3D support, but good thing Windows 2000 is going to fix everything!

How much RAM is in it? I know my current setup has a whopping 128 MB of RAM, and can be upgradable to 256 MB.

Heh... speaking of that, I'm thinking of moving onto the latest Pentium III system. They seem to be a lot faster than the Pentium I'm running NT on, and after that, I probably should also get a good 3D accelerator along with Windows 2000, so I get my NT stability AND have 9x-like gaming going on.

64 MB actually feels usable with my NT4, but I think I'm going to go to at least 128 or 256 MB once I get Windows 2000 and the Pentium III platform. Gotta make way for a new OS and games - their requirements sure have crept up a lot.

Still working fine with my 2GB, but I think I'm going to go straight to the latest 10, 20GB stuff once I get Windows 2000 and a 3D card. Games run best off the HDD, and they take up a lot more space than anything else combined, especially with all the CD-only games that are the hotness lately - I think almost nobody ships games on floppies anymore.

I think I might trip my motherboard's limits on maximum HDD size, though. It's over 8GB, and I've heard that this LBA thing might make things easier, but I think my motherboard won't play well, though Windows 2000 will.

Overclock the Pentiums and see it can surpass Pentium 4

The Pentium III actually had better IPC compared to the Pentium 4 unless you made use of Pentium 4-exclusive feature set. ;)

Anyway, back to the present day! Coding sure is hard when you keep breaking things...

Using the replacement motherboard is a bit annoying since now my desktop is loud as heck, due to lack of proper DC fan control.

so the gd thing about win 10 is you can use desktop app and mobile app, which is awesome for computer and tablet platform. But yeah, Microsoft is trying to track your usage of web and apps which sometimes makes me not secure about privacy
( But they have options to turn off but I think there's still a chance to spy on us)

Well, don't worry too much - if they're tracking your web browsing, it's there so that things can work. You probably opted into them when you did the setup when you first turn on the computer. Most of the tracking makes sense once you realize why they need to track in the first place. If you don't feel comfortable about the tracking for some reason, go to Settings > Privacy and turn off the things you don't want.

Besides, most of the tracking is really telemetry - things that you'd want to let them track, as it's anonymized and very helpful in deciding how things should go in the future. Focus group testing can only go so far (see what happened with Windows 8?)

Just don't let the conspiracy nuts get you. :) They somehow can spin anything into a negative thing.

Yeah, who knows. We are always being watched by someone.

Btw, I heard some awesome innovative designs for IT like compute stick or the mini PCs. But, when I read the news today, these designs are actually from Malaysia IT group students. That is why we have our own Malaysia Spirit. Way to go, Malaysia, I am proud of you.

"Malaysia Boleh!"

But the good thing is, in future we may have compact rigs that have higher performance in small space consumption.

My new laptop has giving out some issue about Intel HD Graphics, it does not responding randomly and somehow have become a consistent problem. Could this be a hardware problem or OS problem? The driver is fully updated by the way.

If you were overclocking your video card, set it back to the default clocks, just in case. Then turn your laptop completely off (click Start, the power button inside the Start menu, and then click Shut down while holding Shift down), wait until the lights on your laptop have come off for at least 15 seconds, then turn it on again. See if the Intel integrated display driver somehow hangs again.
