You are now reading this post. In this thread, I would like to ask you a question about typing. You will read the same post written in three different typing styles, and I would like you to comment on each of them, describing what you feel the typing style says about the person doing the typing. I would like you to then comment on your own typing style and suggest what you think it might say about you.

So yeah, what do you think when you read each of these? I'm talking, btw, about the actual styles of typing (as in caps, no caps and substitutions) as opposed to the actual stuff I wrote.

You never asked a question. :P

Honestly, I found all three of the paragraphs difficult to read because the sentences were very... lifeless? The first was way more formal than I'm used to reading on internet forums, the second was the same thing without all the grammar/punctuation (but I found it just as easy to read) and I... didn't even bother with the third one. I like a more laid back and relaxed style of writing and if someone doesn't structure their sentences that way online, I tend to think of them as kind of stuck up or I feel like they don't understand that forums are not for formal writing. I don't judge for grammar or capitalization, though, since even I will sometimes be far too lazy to bother with it.

I couldn't read the other two because of some abbreviations, and I ended up skimming them, and the first one I had to read twice because I thought I missed the question or something..
The last one I just glanced at because I already knew what you said by the second one and didn't want to have to read the same thing a third time.

: | Oioi.. I'm.. pretty impatient when it comes with reading hahaha. And writing.. and if I make a mistake I just roll with it. Typing on forums is different than typing for classes or work.

The first one is my preference and it is how I convey myself. It's formal and it's different to what most people use on the internet, therefore it is Overlord worthy.

People could be led to believe I am a cold and heartless / emotionless person at times. I have two posting styles. Both of them are of the first type in accordance to the three types the OP listed. The first utilizes a blunt yet sharp approach where my wording and sentence structure appears robotic. The second style is enthusiastic and crazy with a bit of caps lock spam and exclamation marks thrown about.

I had a hard time reading the last 2 paragraphs. The first one was the easiest to read because that's the style I use to type. I do use smilies in addition to that text sometimes.

The second one was hard to read at first tbh, used to seeing the first form of typing more often while the third one seems more like a parody of ex myspace users if you ask me.

I feel like I'm reading the directions to one of those state tests you have to take in school every now and then.

I don't feel the typing style says anything about the person.

I like to type in full words when I have the time but otherwise I'll abbreviate and be okay with some wrong words.

So the first one is my preferred type, but the second is as far as I'll go on a forum. The third one is reserved for a busy chatroom.

The first one is how I type and wish everyone on the internet would type. I know it's a fool's game, but I really do wish people would type with proper spelling/grammar, and be able to find the Caps Lock button on their keyboard. Is it really that hard to type properly? Really?

The second one is OK to read, but I just get pissed off that there are no capital letters. Abbreviations, in small doses, are fine but the lack of capitalisation really bugs me when writing in complete sentences. It just stinks of laziness, to be honest.

Third one: just go away. Go away, now!

The first one is exemplary. The person knows what they're doing and clearly has skills in both typing and English.

The second one still has skills in both typing and English, but is perhaps a little too comfortable with the internet so they're going a little overboard with the shortcuts.

The third one is a 13 year old father of two.

Reading is like driving. I keep one eye on the "road" ahead so I know what's coming. I appreciate proper punctuation and capitalization because it helps keep the flow going and I don't have to slow down to figure out that a sentence has ended. So I when I see someone take the minimal effort to do all the proper grammar stuff I think "They understand" and I metaphorically nod my head in approval.

The other styles make me think the person does not understand the importance of clear communication either by a lack of understanding of commonly agreed upon writing conventions, or because they assume their niche, code-llike writing styles will be perfectly understandable to all who might read it.

    1st - I felt nothing/thought nothing.

2nd - They don't feel like writing it out properly, it wasn't hard to read though, and considering I do this when I'm lazy it's not a big deal to me.

3rd - Why are you doing that?

The first one is by far better than the others, I would personally like it if everyone typed like this. It's easy to read, and to be quite honest the other two just look like the person typing can't be bothered, and that irks me.

The second one is... Eh. Liveable. I don't like it though, possibly over MSN and things it's okay but on a forum it's like "Really?".

No. The third one is trash. Anyone who types like that deserves to be thrown onto a bonfire.

I type... I don't know, much like how I talk. I don't really have any thoughts on it and I wasn't aware the style of typing (really) said much about people?
