Ok I'm doing that Ultimate Challenge...going through every single game.

So, I just finished a quick Flying Monotype on FireRed. I actually wanted to do a Normal run but changed my mind halfway through ^^

I also don't have all Gym-Leader and Elite Four screenshots, but meh.

Here's a quick run-through:

Spoiler:

1. Started the game, named myself Normal and chose Squirtle as a future HM Slave
2. Did the usual, got Pokéballs and caught my first Pokémon, Jekyll the Pidgey
3. Went into Viridian and caught Hyde, the Caterpie. Did some grinding to get them both to level 12, Hyde evolved into a beautiful Butterfree
4. Beat Brock with Sleep Powder + Confusion
5. Went to Veridian, got the Old Rod and caught Florence the Magikarp. Evolved Florence into a Gyarados.
6. Did some massive grinding and then I challenged Misty, Erika, Koga and Surge, in that order.
7. I rushed on to get to Cinnabar as fast as possible, where I turned the Old Amber into Grandpa the Aerodactyl. This was also the point where I switched Jekyll the Pidgeot for Cerberella the Doduo because it couldn't keep up with the rest of the team.
8. Last few Gym leaders (and Team Rocket and my rival in between) were a breeze, mostly due to Grandpa's insane Attack stat + Rock Slide and due to Hyde with mega accurate Sleep Powder + Dream Eater
9. I did some grinding + Rare Candying (I had collected 7) to get everyone to Level 52, then challenge the Elite Four
10. Lorelei was actually the hardest, I had to revive my whole team once to get her down. But in the end, Giga Drain from Hyde and the attack power of my other team members crushed her.
11. Bruno, as always, was really easy. I had the absolute type advantage. He only managed to snipe Hyde with a rock-type attack, but the others put him in his place.
12. Agatha was a joke. Hyde had this done with Sleep Powder and Dream Eater/Psychic
13. Lance was interesting, but not really hard. In the end, even though I was underleveled, the attack power of my Pokémon, especially Grandpa, was too much for the Dragon Lord.
14. The battle with my rival was over fairly quickly. The type-spread of my move simply had an attack for everything he could put up, and his last Pokémon, Bulbasaur, was knocked out with one Sleep Powder / Psychic Combo

Couldn't really make it do anything special. Its movepool without TMs just sucks in 3rd Gen, there's no way around it. Surf was very useful, and the Hidden Power Fire was a godsend against stupid Magnemites/Magnetons

Hyper Beam, Steel Wing, Rock Slide, Double-Edge
Elite Four MvP. Oh man, this is just an amazing Pokémon. I have never used one ever, but I will from now on. Amazing stats, great move-pool. As you can see in the screenshots, it murdered Blaine's team even though it was several levels under them.

Honorary Mention:
Jekyll the Pidgeot (Level 41), HM Slaves Squirtle and Meowth (the trusty, rare candy stealing cat. Also stole four TM 10s)

Well, it was a lot of fun, maybe I could help/entertain someone with this mega-post.

The tl;dr version: If you do a Flying Monotype on FireRed/Leafgreen, get Butterfree and Aerodactyl!

Update #4 on Black.

• Cleared out Relic Castle, and after getting the Light Stone, I made my way to Opelucid City.
• Bought vitamins at Shopping Mall Nine, then EV trained my team.
• Took on the gym and beat Drayden easily with a Shell Smash sweep from Hermione.
• Got to Victory Road, where I caught my next team member, Durantula the Durant.
• Trained him a bit, taught him Rock Slide, X-Scissor, and Dig, then made my way through Victory Road.
• After a bit of moveset editing (Hidden Power Rock to Ninja, Return and Rock Slide to Pendra, Dig to Hermione), it was time for the Elite Four!
• Grimsley was soloed by Durantula (X-Scissor, Dig).
• Caitlin was soloed by Ninja (Bug Buzz, Hidden Power Rock).
• Shauntal was handled by Durantula, who took down Cofagrigus and Chandelure with Rock Slide (Fire Blast missed, lol) and Golurk with Iron Head, and Jellicent was cleaned up by Electro.
• Marshall went down to Pendra (Poison Jab), Hermione (Sheel Smash + Dig) and Ninja (Giga Drain).
• After the awesome cutscenes with the castle and dragons, I took on N and Ghetsis.
• N was easy. Durantula beat Zekrom (Dig 2HKO), Zoroark (X-Scissor OHKO), Archeops (Iron Head OHKO) and Carracosta (Iron Head 2HKO). Electro then cleaned up Klinklang and Vanilluxe with Thunderbolt.
• Ghetsis was easy too. Hermione beat Cofagrigus after Durantula went down, then Pendra took over, beating the rest of Ghetsis' team with Megahorn.

-Proceeded through Mt. Moon retrieving the Helix Fossil (No big deal anyway)
