I need to get started on the Green and Gold Challenge... But, I'm the exact opposite of you, Ayame, I don't want to start until I've finished my two UMCs.

    Speaking of said two UMCs:

Normal Platinum: Volkner wasn't nearly as bad as I figured he would be. Staraptor was faster than all of his Pokemon, and either one hit or two hit them with Close Combat. I had to Revive Star once, and use an Ether on CC, but other than that, everything went very smoothly.

Fire Platinum: I rushed ahead to get a Houndour, who evolved into Houndoom one level later. I Move Maniac'd Houndoom's Thunderfang back on it, to finally give it a decent move to use. I beat Maylene and Wake (finally, Wake was quite hard). Wake took lots of luck and some Close Combats from Infernape. It is so hard to catch Houndoom up to Infernape. Houndoom not having a Fire move only hurts. Hopefully he'll start catching up at 32 with Fire Fang.

Ruby Fire: Started, beat Roxanne and Brawly. Did the museum sidequest. To Mauville and then the rest of my team at Fiery Path it is!

Holy Crap Trapinch is hard to train Holy Crap Norman is hard to beat So after beating every single trainer in the gym I finally made it to Norman and Derp fainted on the first Slaking 0_o. Thankfully, You Liek? managed to beat him with mud shot in between healings. You Liek? then evolved after the battle, and was promptly taught surf. I next grinded Derp to the point of evolution in New Mauville and Mah Lady is still lagging behind...

    Thats all.

Okay, I started White and got all the way to Striaton City, beat the Gym, got all the way to Wellspring cave and caught my first Ground-type Pokémon, Drillbur (named it Drillbit). Now I'm grinding till it learns Metal Claw and gains a couple more levels, which has been pretty hard so far.

    Team:

    Drillbit - Drillbur - Lv 14
    Scratch
    Fury Swipes
    Mud Slap
    Rapid Spin

I used yellow so Nidoran would learn double kick. Nidoking ended up doing most of it by himself. I beat it in about 2 hours or so (with the emulator sped up).

    Continuation:

Okay I gotta admit that Victory Road was a b!tch.
But after play a good amount of time everyday just leveling up and fighting trainers, I got my pokemon on decent levels, then I went and finished the Road.
I was waiting actually for May to show up, but it was Wally. My nemesis.
    I beat him of course.
    Spoiler:

    Now the Elite Four.
    My team so far.
    Spoiler:

    First trainer "Sidney":
    Spoiler:

    - I pressed the button too fast and I didnt get a shot to show that I defeat the first trainer but this is enough proof right?
    Spoiler:

    - Second trainer "Phoebe" was an easy target with Sharpedo's Surf.
    - Until Sharpedo was left out of PP and then he was defeat by his Dusclops.
    - But Starmie's Waterfall did the trick.
    Spoiler:

    - The third trainer make me whited out.
    - I dont have almost none of money so I couldnt buy items.

    -----------------

That was so far. Three days later of losing, I kept on training on Victory Road (and fighting the Elite Four gaining experience to my Pokemon but losing mo money), while listening to the Eye Of The Tiger and watching The Simpsons, Family Guy and South Park. And drinking lots of sodas.
I got to level up my pokemon more, I hope this time I could do some real harm.
    My PokeTeam by now:
    Spoiler:

The first one is the harder I think. The fartest I went is to the fourth, but I got there with just one Pokemon and no items.
I'll keep playing everyday trying to finish the challenge.
    Spoiler:

Note: Shiftry is not earth or something? Why water attacks did not make a OneKO?
Yeah, he's Dark/Grass, not Dark/Ground. No wonder you couldn't OHKO him.

Update (well, more of a downdate):
Oops, I lied. I couldn't beat Wake. For some reason I thought I did, but Floatzel OHKO the almost dead Falu with Aqua Jet. So, now I'm training for a rematch.

Yeah, well I beat the weather institute an all. Brendan was easy, would've been easier without the rain though. Winona was so-so but Derp knows rock slide and You Liek? carries the mystic water. Mah Lady is still lagging behind, and because of the exp. share, so is everybody else. Maybe I'll do some runs on the Reporters 'till she evolves.

No idea how I'm going to verify that I've completed the challenge, but I'm on Lucian right now with Normals. I have 70 Revives, 10 Full Restores and 108 Hyper Potions, so I'm assuming I will win.

Edit: Just beat Lucian relatively easy. Staraptor wrecked their team by Brave Birding Mr. Mime, Fly for Gallade and Espeon, and though Alakazam was faster than me and almost OHKO'd with Psychic, I killed it with Fly too. Used Close Combat to take Bronzing to a tad over half before fainting.

I planned on weakening it with Bibarel, then reviving Star for the Close Combat KO. But, Bibarel got a crit with Splash Plate boosted Waterfall, so I killed the Bronzong with it. Time for Cynthia. I think I'm going to have to stall with my healing items.

Second Edit: First try lasted not even a full Pokemon. I reloaded, used an Max Elixer on Close Combat, and changed my move order around.

    Second move by move:
    Spoiler:

AND I THOUGHT I WOULD NEED LOTS AND LOTS OF HYPER POTIONS AND REVIVES... Ended with 67 revives and 106 Hyper Potions (and 10 full restores and 26 Full heals)

    Final Team:

Falconbro, the Lv. 64 Staraptor @ Sky Plate
Moves: Close Combat, Aerial Ace, Brave Bird, Fly

Brobeaver, the Lv. 60 Bibarel @ Splash Plate
Moves: Hyper Fang, Dig, Rollout, Waterfall

    temporary member: Brogepi the Togepi
HM Slaves: Turtwig (Strength, Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Cut), Psyduck (Surf), and Starly (Defog)

    Woot! 3 ultis down.

Edit #so_many: Retried against Wake (fires) this time had much more success. Gyarados was dropped by 2 Thunder fangs from Sangria, who almost got one shot by Waterfall. Falu still couldn't OHKO Quagsire with Close Combat, and took a Mud Shot, but he used Flame Wheel while Wake healed, and the next Close Combat killed it. I switched to Bidoof to heal Falu. Falu came back in and OHKO'd Floatzel w/ Close Combat.

Now that I have 5 Badges, I'm going to go play Hoenn.

    Team:
    Falu, the Lv. 46 Infernape
Moves: Close Combat, Shadow Claw, Flame Wheel, Return

    Sangria, the Lv. 35 Houndoom
Moves: Thunder Fang, Smog, Bite, Fire Fang

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Electric).

    Finished Sapphire.

Starting from Fallarbor Town, I ended up just using Light the Lanturn and Shocker the Manectric for the whole game. The Elite Four were pretty easy, as was Steven. No revive sacrifices at all, since I started the E4 with both of em at L63 lol (Rare Candies FTW!).

    Hoenn Screens:
    Spoiler:

I came out of Victory Road at L55ish and then fought the rest of the trainers around Hoenn (currents, etc), getting them to L58, then used my 10 Rare Candies on them prior to facing the Elite Four.

    Started Platinum.

    Name: Eric
    Rival: Jack

    • Dominated with these two awesome pokes until I arrived in Celestic Town and got Surf.

    • Saved while surfing outside Pastoria City.
