So, I finally finished my St. Patty's day challenge, and am now resuming my UMC. :) For a refresher, I just beat Pryce and am beating up TR in Goldenrod now. Currently my team is:

Alright, my updates here aren't going to be nearly as in-depth as some of my more recent ones in other threads, since I'll be zooming through these. :D

So, I guess I'll just start off with a Flying Monotype in Red.

Update #1.

Name: Aero
Starter: Charmander
Rival: Bob (lol)

• So, I started the game by obtaining my Charmander, which I named 'Ryuka'.
• Captured a Pidgey as soon as I could, named it 'Rasen'.
• Defeated Brock with ease, Rasen Sand-Attacked Onix several times, which rendered it useless. Ryuka finished it off.
• I obtained a Magikarp from the Pokemon Center near Mt. Moon. Named it 'Issui'.
• Passed through Mt. Moon, Rasen evolves. Defeat my Rival and everyone North of Cerulean. Issui eventually evolves.
• Defeated Misty with Issui easily. Moved on to Vermilion, and won against Bob in the SS. Anne.
• Defeated Lt. Surge. Issui starts off by OHKO'ing two Pokemon, then allows Ryuka to finish by using Ember on Raichu.
• I'm now training in Diglett's Cave. (Currently training whole team to about level 40, shouldn't take too long.) Also, while I train, Rasen evolves into Pidgeot.

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Grass).

Started Platinum a couple days ago - here's my first update.

• Soloed with Greenback the Turtwig/Grotle/Torterra until I had 2 badges, then caught Lady the Roselia on Rt. 208.
• Did Wayward Cave, then beat Fantina.
• Went through Solaceon to Veilstone, and swept Maylene with Earthquake.
• Went down south to Pastoria, where I caught Medusa the Tangela in the Great Marsh, which took a while.
• Currently saved in Pastoria.

Poison UMC question

Pretty soon I'm going to continue my UMC Poison in Sapphire. However, the only poison type available before the first gym is Dustox. I really don't want to spend the time levelling up a Dustox to 15 or whatever to beat Roxanne only to dump it immediately after. I wanted to know if I could use my starter until Granite Cave to grab a Zubat instead of Dustox.

• Finished training both Issui and Ryuka to level 36. Ryuka evolved into Charizard. (Couldn't do much today, didn't have time.)

Next update, I will probably either finish or be very close to finishing this monotype. I'll also post the Charizard evolution screen next time.

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Grass).

Finished Platinum.

• After I trained up Medusa a bit, she evolved into Tangrowth after learning AncientPower.
• Beat Crasher Wake easily, then got the SecretPotion/Old Charm from Cynthia.
• Went to Celestic Town and beat Cyrus. Got Surf as well.
• After beating the water trainers, I went to Canalave City, and then trained in Iron Island, where I go the Shiny Stone.
• Beat Byron pretty easily, then evolved Lady into Roserade.
• Beat the lakes, then headed through the snow to Snowpoint City, where I beat Candice with a lucky critical hit from AncientPower.
• Beat the TG HQ and then Cyrus in the Distortion World.
• Went to Sunyshore City, where Volkner was swept with 4 EQs from Greenback.
• Got to Victory Road and made it through, then beat Paul for the final time.
• Rare Candied Lady and Medusa to L66 and Greenback to L67, then took on the Elite Four.
• Didn't have much trouble with the Elite Four, although I had to use some healing items.
• Beat Cynthia with difficulty to become the Champion!

Chapter 1 - So it begins!​

Well...time to start a new game. I'm naming myself Kobora, and my rival is named Zero. I head to the tall grass, but an old guy stopped me. It was Oak. Well, he dragged me into his lab where his grandson, Zero was waiting. I got a Pikachu since Zero stole the other poke ball, then we duked it out. He got an Eevee...lucky basterd. Well, Lucky, my Pikachu, owned it. Now...let's go to the next town.

It seems that Oak was waiting for a package, so I'm the delivery boy...I feel like Fry from Futurama. Now...when I gave him the package, he gave me and Zero a Pokedex...awesome. Anyway, in Route 2, I caught a Pidgey and a Rattata. I'm gonna train them up, then enter the Viridian Forest.

This concludes this chapter of my Normal Ultimate Monotype Challenge.

Start of Ultimate Monotype Challenge #8 - Bug.

Played through Blue with Butterfree and Pinsir. It wasn't too difficult, and I am excited to do the other regions.

• I played with just Butterfree, which I named Wings, until I bought Pinsir, which I named Arrrrr, at the Game Corner. I had three badges at that point.
• Arrrrr caught up to Wings at around L45, when I beat Giovanni in Sliph Co.
• Eventually I beat all the gym leaders and went through Victory Road.
• At the Elite Four, I beat each member pretty easily.
• Then I beat Frankie to become the Champion!

Chapter 2 - Rock Hard Brock!​

Well...it's time to go through the Viridian Forest. Doesn't look too hard, but I'll need to catch a Caterpie...for later. Anyway, onward to the forest. A few trainers...Bug types...the works. After a bit, I caught a Caterpie and named it B-Man...since it's a bug. I'll train up my party in Route 3 until they're all at least Level 10. Then I'll go to Pewter City.

Ok...all trained up. Now, time to own Brock. 1 optional trainer? Ha! Pathetic! I'll skip him, then move on to Brock. Two pokemon, eh? Geodude...owned by B-Man, and Lucky helped. Onix nearly killed B-Man, but he came out on top, so Brock gave me the Bolderbadge.
