Also, I have an idea for an Elite four team that I will start working towards:

Snorlax, Tauros, Fearow, Raticate, Clefable are all in.

Kangaskhan, Pidgeot or Eevee? I would like some advice on this choice.

id go for kangashan as you already have fearow and Eevee is actually quite weak as u cant evolve him

ok ready im ready to start another challenge. Ive been caught up in playing alot of homefront and havent had time to play much pokemon but no im bored of homefront and ready for some battles. So if i was to do a dragon run through i could trade a deino as a starter right? BTW i completed my fire challenge but idk how to get the completion bar like my ground and normal bar i found them on the first post but none for 5th gen.

Like Eevee said, you really don't need Pidgeot and Fearow. Honestly, I always pick Pidgeot, but Fearow can learn Drill Peck which is a bit stronger than Fly, so that's really the only move you'll need on him (other than fly, of course)

As for Kangaskhan... I mean, you already are going to have to slave in the Safari Zone to find a Tauros. I wouldn't bother with it. Tbh, you really only need about 3 Pokemon for a Monotype. I did that one with Clefable/Wigglytuff/Pidgeot.

Okay, here's my team so far:

Careful Rattata, Level 15
Rock Smash
Bite
Quick Attack
Focus Energy
Say what you will about rattata, but it has good attack and speed for its level. And with only 1 weakness, I'll only run into trouble in terms of type weakness on my side with the cianwood gym... but type resistance on the gym leader's side is a different story, since 2 gym leaders resist normal and 1 is immune to it outright. I might need some x items for at least Jasmine. Even though I have good coverage with my other moves, I might need some x attacks for the super-physical defensive steelix.

I'm almost at union cave right now. Thanks for tolerating my rambling, everyone.

Update for Ultimate Monotype Challenge (Dark).

Final Update (#3) on Ruby.

  • Got to Lilycove and beat May.
  • Beat Mt. Pyre and the Hideout.
  • Surfed to Mossdeep and beat Tate and Liza easily.
  • Dived for a Green Shard and evolved Woody into Shiftry.
  • Beat the underwater grunts and Maxie.
  • Killed Groudon and beat Wallace.
  • Surfed and Waterfalled to Victory Road and beat Wally.
  • Used my 19 Rare Candies (Pickup FTW!) to get all three to L57.
  • Swept through the Elite Four easily, then beat Steven to become Champion!

Chapter 9 - The Elite Four!

Ok...Victory Road is one huge Strength puzzle. That's gonna be a major pain. Oh well...has to be done. There are trainers and items, so that'll be cool. So...funny story while I was going through the Victory Road. I saw a bird sprite sitting there. I talked to it, and it was a Moltres. Weird, huh? Yeah...Magic murdered it with Thunderbolt. Oh well...to the league!

Ok...I've done over 15 attempts of the Elite Four just to grind up Magic to an overkill level. After so many failures, I got Magic up to Level 70. Anyway, Magic easily owned the first three (on my successful run), but Lance was...a slight challenge since I was low on PP for every one of Magic's attacks except Quick Attack. I still won, revived Beta, and went to fight Zero. Forgot the play by play, but his Flareon was no match against my Level 73 Raticate. In the end...I became the champion.

This concludes this chapter of my Normal Ultimate Monotype Challenge.

(Ultimate Monotype Challenge)

I'll post updates soon.

Now I've beat Bugsy with ease, thanks to togepi's sacrifice. Which, looking back, I'm not entirely sure I needed. I didn't want to go to totodile because I was afraid that would count as using it in battle. Oh, and now I have a raticate. Let's look at its stats!
Level 20, Careful
Attack: 40
Defense: 34
Sp. Atk: 22
Sp. Def: 39
Speed: 45
Rock Smash
Sucker Punch
Hyper Fang
Focus Energy
The attack and speed is great, and the defenses are getting better - sp. def is almost equal to attack! I don't regret putting rock smash on it, it's been great for other normals, and will be great for Whitney. Sucker punch is stronger than bite in terms of raw base power. Hyper fang does absurd damage, and focus energy... I need to replace focus energy. Oh, and now let's look at togepi, which I now have.

Level 10, Hardy
Sweet Kiss
Charm
Extrasensory
Metronome
Oh, come on? Hustle? I honestly would have been much happier with serene grace. But I guess it's good for, say, fly.

Okay, time for rival battle number 2, which I won't post about yet!

Peckers finished geodude but took damage
Switched to bulbasaur to heal Peckers

Blissy's Normal Ultimate Monotype Challenge! - Gold Version
Chapter 10 - So Johto Begins!

Now that I'm done with Yellow, I can move on to Gold Version. Now...time to begin with Oak. As always, I'll name myself Kobora, but my rival is AFK...for now. So...into the world of Johto! Well...New Bark Town. Let's go see Elm. Wait...mom gives me my Pokegear. Now...let's go to Elm. Poke Balls! I'm taking Totodile as a slave. Elm wants me to go to Mr. Pokemon. Fine. Let's go to Cherrygrove City!

Ok...the 1st route isn't important yet. First, Mr. Pokemon. Second, back to New Bark. So...onward some more! So...it's the delivery boy all over again. That blows. It blows like a leaf blower. Fine. Though I did get a Pokedex from Oak. Cool. But when Elm called, he sounded paniced. I might as well get back to New Bark Town. But...on my way back to New Bark Town, I encountered a strange kid with red hair. Wait...he has a Chikorita. He's the theif! He must die!

Ok...he's owned. Back at New Bark, I told the cop that the theif was named Silver. Afterwards, I gave Elm the egg, got 5 Poke Balls, and told mom I'm leaving. Now...since it's night, I caught a Hoothoot and named it Hoot, then got a female Rattata. Since it's Magic's daughter, I named her Wanda. I'll train them up, and their optomised levels will be in my next update.

This concludes this chapter of my Normal Ultimate Monotype Challenge.

I remember that fight. It was awful. I chose to get lucky with Sand Attack instead of overlevelling, but it took like an hour still. I probably should have used your method...

And yes, you can turn it into an ultimate if you go back and beat the other games. I ask that you do this, though: After you finish everything (so that you are the ultimate champion and stuff), go back and make one more post where you just copy all of your updates into one post with spoilers so that when you tell Alakazam "hey, I finished the Ultimate Challenge", she'll be easily able to look at your one post instead of having to look all over for them. Make sense?

Why not? I'll take electric.

Part I (Firered) - Update 1

I already beat the first three gyms, and am outside Rock Tunnel. I soloed up until Rock Tunnel with my Pikachu, and then caught a Voltorb. I am now in the process of training it. Brock/random Hikers are very painful when you only have Electric/Normal moves. I had to rely on Static activating, then Tail Whip spam. I got through in the end though, and left a few trainers afterwards to train Voltorb up.

Team:

Pikachu Level 34 (Thundershock, Thunderbolt, Mega Punch, Thunder Wave)
Voltorb Level 26 (Spark, Screech, Sonicboom, Tackle)

Update #3

Few things:

  • I have decided to not use Snooki the Jigleypuff, I choose this becuase Snooki and JWow(Clefairy) are basically the same pokemon except Clefairy is better. So thank you Snooki, you will be missed.
  • This update happened after I completed the rocket Hideout so level are a tiny bit higher.
Blue's Team:

I have beaten Morty. Nothing on his team outsped me, but gengar lived a hit and sleeped me. I still beat it in another hits. And I didn't take any damage! Here's my team so far:

Raticate Level 30
Excellent Speed and Attack
Good Defense and Special Defense
Low Special Attack
Rock Smash
Crunch
Strength
Focus Energy
Okay, a great pokemon overall. I got rid of hyper fang because strength had 100% Base Accuracy, while hyper fang had 90% Base Accuracy. It learned crunch, which I swept Morty with.

Togepi Level 24
Excellent Defense and Special Defense
Good Special Attack
Fair Attack
Low Speed
Sweet Kiss
Yawn
Extrasensory
Shadow Ball
Once it becomes togetic, it will be a great pokemon. It's actually pretty good right now - I used it for everyone in Morty's gym except Morty himself. I taught it Shadow Ball over Metronome because metronome is random and unreliable.

Miltank Level 13
Excellent Defense and Speed
Good Attack and Special Defense
Low Special Attack
Return
Rock Tomb
Stomp
Milk Drink
I just caught this on route 38, and it has good defense for its level. I'm getting rid of Stomp once Miltank has good happiness. Rock Tomb is mainly filler.

Totodile, an HM slave, is still level 7. I forget why it's not level 6.

Next up, I'm doing some surfing stuff I couldn't do before!
