Well, first half of the game is done at last. E4 wasn't as easy as I thought since I soloed with Feraligatr, but I still survived. Onward to Kanto. In the meantime, I'll try getting Emerald started.

Alright, so I was able to finish up my SoulSilver Ground Run:

- Grinded with the low-level Elite Four to ~Lv. 60.
- Beat Blue with no problems.
- Grinded in Mt. Silver, kept fighting Red on and off but it didn't work.
- Beat Red. Sandslash was key here - Swords Dance to max power to knock off Pikachu and then Lapras. Quagsire took on Blastoise and won eventually, Snorlax went down easily to Steelix, Charizard fell to Golem, and Venusaur was a pain, but Nidoking and Mamoswine (and items) beat it.
- Figured I should beat the Elite Four as well. Wasn't too terribly difficult, though Quagsire's really weak Ice Beam made Lance a pain sometimes.

That's it! On to Emerald!

Hi, before I do my bug monotype challenge update I have a question, does anyone think I'll be able to beat Elite 4 2nd time (when they have higher lvls) in leafgreen?

Ok so here's my update. Beat Dojo and Koga with butterfree's psywave. I had to get off but i going to beat sabrina next time. She should be easy with Driller's twineedle. I beat rocket at silph co, govani was easy but rival was hard (well mostly just his garados). No idea how ill be able to beat Blane, already unlocked his gym by getting the key, but either get a tm i can teach to bug pokemon that will be super-effective or grind way too much.... hopefully i can find a tm lol

Wow. Red was FAR more tedious than he is in G/S/C. It took me many tries to beat him, but it's done. Water Monotype on SoulSilver is complete. Now, I'm going to do a Bug Monotype on White to see how I fare. Hopefully, I can beat Tate and Liza on my Normal UMC for Emerald soon. Although, final results time.

▸ Picked Mudkip, but then caught a Wurmple, and used it until I could catch a Nincada. Nicknamed it "Nin". (feeling a bit lazy with the nicknames here)
▸ Defeated Roxanne (Sand-Attack is awesome)

▸ Delivered the letter to Steven, then I went inside the gym and defeated some trainers. Nin evolved into a Ninjask, and I also gained a Shedinja (that I'll have to nickname later).
▸ Defeated Brawly.

▸ Nicknamed Shedinja "Sheddi".
▸ Defeated Wattson. (Screech is also awesome)

▸ Defeated Flannery.

▸ Defeated Norman.

Alright, I'm going to try my hand at a challenge! :D But because I'm fed up with Gen III I'm going to participate in the monotype challenge for only one game: Leafgreen.


5/21 – A New Day Begins! – Badge 1

Challenge: Normal
Started the game, immediately heading for the tall grass. Oak chases after and leads me back to his lab where the jerk demands his grandfather gives him a Pokemon. Blah, blah, blah, he complains when I pick first. But I ignore him and choose Squirtle, because he'll be a useful HM slave. After forgoing the nicknames, I attempt to leave and my rival challenges me. Squirtle easily overpowers Bulbasaur, and victory is mine. Heading up Route 1 I encounter a few Pidgey, but I press onward so I can get my hands on some Pokeballs. Entered Viridian City and headed toward the Mart, knowing that I'd have to deliver Oak a package before I could by Pokeballs. Headed back to Pallet.

After delivering the parcel and being practically told that my efforts weren't needed, I received my Pokedex and bid Pallet goodbye. After heading into the tall grass, I immediately found a Pidgey. After two Pokeballs it was finally mine. Deciding to go with a Greek god theme for nicknames, I nicknamed the female Pidgey Artemis. As soon as the Pidgey was caught I healed up and immediately put Pidgey out front. However, because it was only level 3, it ended up fainting with the next Pidgey I found. So I caught the Pidgey so Squirtle wouldn't fight. Once the 2nd Pidgey was caught, I boxed the Squirtle and set out to level grind.

After getting Pidgey to a healthy level where it wouldn't faint every two seconds, I set out for Viridian Forest after accepting the Teachy TV from the old man with the caffeine addiction. As I traversed the forest Pidgey eventually learned Gust, so I was taking out bugs left and right. They stood no chance against my bird Pokemon. After a short time I was finally out of the forest and I deemed it was the right time to finally catch a Rattata so I could focus training it.

After catching five Rattatas I finally caught one that didn't have a horrible nature. So I ended up naming him Dionysus. After some intense training, with Artemis at 13 and Dionysus at 11, I thought maybe I could take on Brock. So I went to practice on his underling and oh, how wrong I was. I didn't realize Tackle and Quick Attack did so little. Well, I'm back to the training board.

I have beaten the 1st Gym Leader Brock and did not take any damage throughout the entire gym surprisingly and what sucks is while in the Viridian Forest I found a shint wild Caterpie but didn't catch it because it not poison type :(
