Wasn't Ice on the list of main types that couldn't be used for a run? Or is trading in allowed now?

Oh, crap. Well, it's still pretty fun. Thanks for letting me know.

EDIT: He said that they could be traded over. I'm going to start poison in blue version anyways.

Fire Monotype Challenge: Part Thirteen - I Fell Into a Burning Ring of Fire

    Trainer Name: Seb
    Badges: 7
    Generation: I (on Blue)
    Location: Cinnabar Island

    Cinnabar Gym Battle Log:

    • It's time to show Blaine who the true master of Fire Pokemon is (cheeeesy).
    • Pfft. Who needs Burn Heals? I'm fighting all the trainers for experience, and I'm also doing mirror-matches (if they send out a Ninetales, I send out Trixie) because it's just plain fun. Oh, and I'm 1HKOing Fire Pokemon with Flamethrower... Next Gen, I'll try to avoid overleveling. It's kind of hard to do because my largest team will only be about 3 Pokemon.
    • On a side note, Rapidash's sprite is frightening.
    • "Fire is weak against H2O"? ... interesting choice of dialogue.
    • Destroyed his entire team. It was still fun, though.
    Team:
    rbspr006.png

    Ringo (Level 57)
    - Flamethrower
    - Earthquake
    - Slash
    - Swords Dance

    Game: Pokemon Crystal
    Type: Rock
    Badges: 4
    Play Time: 4:41

    Latest Progress:
Headed North of Goldenrod and trained.
Challenged the Gym and came out with one more badge.
    Togepi egg hatched!
Got a bottle of water and sprinkled the Sudowoodo.
The Sudowoodo attacked given me a chance to catch it!
Caught Sudowoodo, hello second to last member of my Johto team. :)
Headed to show Elm the egg, then traveled to Ecruteak City.
Entered the Burned tower and encountered my rival, our battle was so immense that the floor gave in and I fell down into a basement, but this was a great tragedy as I got to see a Suicune, Entei, and Raikou!
Left the Burned Tower and challenged the gym.
    Defeated first trainer.
    Geodude evolved into Graveler.
Defeated all other trainers, most of which were OHKO but the Hypnosis caused annoyance.
Challenged Morty! Graveler fainted, oh noes!
    Sent out Sudowoodo.
Damn Gengar, ran out of Awakenings, switched to Onix for the final blow.
Won the Fog Badge and departed West.

    Team:
    Graveler - Level 27

  • I played like an addict from around 4-5 days, and I'm proud to become the third conquerer of the Ultimate Monotype Challenge!
Aaron, was a bug (bad pun intended), but was defeated with Surfs from Emperor, his Scizor was annoying though.
Bertha... seriously Grass Knot weak... Just Gliscor was killed from Ice Fang otherwise Grass Knot fest.
Flint... Did you expect him to win against three water types?
Lucian was the toughest imo, really a pain to defeat, but a combination of Surfs and Shadow Claws from Emperor made him to be defeated.
Cynthia was tough, Spiritomb was annoying. Spiritomb was killed from 2 Surfs from Emperor, Roserade was defeated by Swift's Ice Fang, as did Togekiss, Lucario was the toughest, but was eventually killed by an Earth Power from Slughorn. Milotic was nothing against Grass Knot, and same with Garchomp with Ice Fang.
    Final Team:
    395.png

    Emperor/Empoleon
    Level 59/Lonely Nature
    ~ Surf
    ~ Flash Cannon
    ~ Grass Knot
    ~ Shadow Claw

    419.png

    Swift/Floatzel
    Level 61/Calm Nature
    ~ Crunch
    ~ Waterfall
    ~ Ice Fang
    ~ Aerial Ace

    423.png

    Slughorn/Gastrodon
    Level 57/Docile Nature
    ~ Surf
    ~ Recover
    ~ Body Slam
    ~ Earth Power

So, I'll do this challenge again.... Later? Sure!

  • 2nd Kanto entry
    Version: Red
    Type: Normal

Right, so quite a lot has happened since my first post, and I'm gonna skip it all and say that I'm about to go through Victory Road. My final post will be after I kick Kai's ass. (My rival) I did plan to have a Tauros on my final team, but after what seemed like countless attempts at catching one in the Safari Zone, I eventually gave up, and decided it wasn't worth it. Anyway, here's my team so far: (Pidgeot is the only one, whose moveset isn't quite finished yet)

    EDIT!! I MADE IT!!

Even though I was underleveled, I managed to beat the Elite Four and my rival with my Pokémon's versatile movesets and a whole bunch of Full Restores. I didn't take any notes, but my E4 challenge included a rather intense battle between Raticate and Aerodactyl, Snorlax taken out by Kai's Arcanine and Raticate finally destroying his stupid Blastoise with a few Thunderbolts. Oh yea, and teaching Kangaskhan Ice Beam turned out to be a brilliant idea.

    My final team:

    rbspr143.png
    Snorlax, lv. 57
    - Hyper Beam
    - Rock Slide
    - Surf
    - Psychic

    rbspr020.png
    Raticate, lv. 54
    - Bubblebeam
    - Dig
    - Thunderbolt
    - Hyper Fang

    rbspr018.png
    Pidgeot, lv. 52
    - Gust
    - Wing Attack
    - Quick Attack
    - Fly

    rbspr115.png
    Kangaskhan, lv. 52
    - Strength
    - Ice Beam
    - Submission
    - Earthquake

**** yeah! Move me to Johto!

  • I finished Ruby now. Most of the Elite 4 was easy, except for Drake.

Sidney: Heracross. 1 Bulk Up, 5 Brick Breaks.
Phoebe: None of her ghost levitates, so Bulk Up+EQ beat her. For this battle, I replaced Hera's Shell Bell with a anti-confusion berry because Dusclops always uses C-ray on the first turn.
    Glacia: See Sidney.
Drake: Killed Shelgon with Hera and the Flygons with Masquerain. And then came Mence. After a lot of Flamethrowers, Flys (only early on, not after Intimidate had lowered its attack enough) and revives, it finally decided to use Dragon Claw instead (it wasn't that long, I'm sure it still had other PP), so Masquerain could kill it.
Steven: Masquerain had some trouble to beat Skarm, but managed it, and died against Claydol. Heracross set up on it (apparently it doesn't know Psychic) and swept.
    2mzz23c_th.png

    Final Team:
    Spr_3r_284.png

    Flash / Masquerain f Lv.55 @ Nevermeltice
    Modest Nature / Intimidate
    - Bubblebeam
    - Stun Spore
    - Ice Beam
    - Giga Drain
I should have leveled it a bit more later on, then Mence wouldn't have been that difficult...
    Spr_3r_214.png

    Sheracross / Heracross f Lv.58 @ Shell Bell
    Naughty Nature / Swarm
    - Earthquake
    - Bulk Up
    - Megahorn
    - Brick Break
    Hi, I'm Golbat.
But apart from stuff like this, Hera did a very good job, beating most of the Elite 4 on its own.

    On to Platinum!
(ugh, no speed increasing there, 200% is like nothing...)

Monotype Challenge: Part Fourteen - We're On the Road to Viridian City!

    Trainer Name: Seb
    Badges: 8
    Generation: I (on Blue)
    Location: Viridian City

    Log:

    • As the title says, we're heading to Viridian City. Sold various TMs and deposited other items.
    • Destroyed the swimmers and the... Cue Balls in water..? I must say, though. Tentacruel's sprite is amazing. Its tentacles are crossed, haha! I also like Cloyster's sprite a lot.
    • Arrived back in Pallet Town, then back in Viridian City.
    Viridian Gym Battle Log:

    • Gee, I wonder who the leader is. [/sarcasm]
    • I love how sluggishly you go using the arrow pad things...
    • Why do so many trainers have whips?
    • OHEMGEE ITS GIOVANNI NOOOO
    • His suit is epic.
    • Rhyhorn had a turn to attack me once, but he missed. Dugtrio is pretty fragile. I keep leaving just 1HP left on Giovanni's Pokemon... oh well. His last Pokemon also had one turn... and Giovanni wasted it on a Guard Spec. Ringo finished his Rhydon with an Earthquake. Final badge get! It's quite satisfying to see your name on the list of winning trainers.
    Log (cont.):

    • Decided to face Rival Holden again.
    • ... and got stopped by a Nidoran. Earthquake'd it for good measure.
    • I finally stopped 1HKOing things! Rejoice!
    • IT'S ALWAYS LEFT WITH 1HP.
    • Haha. He still has Exeggcute and Growlithe.
    • Rival Holden is defeated. Highlights of the match were 1HKOing Alakazam with Trixie's Flamethrower, and Ringo surviving Blastoise's Hydro Pump.
    Team:
Same pretty much. Ringo is at Level 58, Trixie is at Level 56 (I think, or 57), and Felix is at Level 57.

  • Wondering if I'd be able to do this with Ghost type? I'd start in FireRed for Kanto however, generation 1 has Ghost and Psychic interacting differently than everything after...

Fire Monotype Challenge: Part Fifteen - The Road to Victory

    Trainer Name: Seb
    Badges: 8
    Generation: I (on Blue)
    Location: The Indigo Plateau

    Log:

    • Walked up to Victory Road with some freakin' awesome music.
    • Ringo defeated Moltres in an epic fight... and grew to Level 60.
    • Made it to the Indigo Plateau. The epic music continues.
    • Sold a bunch of TMs and other things. Changed my Pokemon's movesets slightly.
    • There aren't any Hyper Potions here what?!
    • Gave out a few Rare Candies as reward for my amazing team. Sold the rest. I'm still slightly underleveled for the Champion battle, though. I'm fine with that because I want some challenge out of it.
    • My total amount of money is $247177. Time to spend it all!
    • I'm overstocked on items. I still have about $40000 left. My main concern is running out of PP. Not much I can do about that, though.
