A friend of mine was sitting next to me while I was on the computer and she asked me about my online friends. It was then when I realized that I didn't know how to pronounce one of my online friends name (who I'm not gonna name otherwise they'll hunt me down XD)

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?

    If so who?

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?
I have a friend from school and she comes from Neapol I think and her name is Khimkula and I've always at first had a problem pronouncing it.

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?
Yep, all of the time people say my name wrong. Even the teachers say it wrong.

This common for me for the user names that are most commonly from another language that I've probably never heard of or just haven't learnt, mostly the common ones when I see then have to be Ryoutarou (That is how you spell it, right? o:), Soari, Patchisou Yutohru, yeah there are a load more but basically the no so obvious ones. I still can't pronounce these even after seeing them so many times around the forum, Soari though, I guessed that it would be something like the word soaring but the other two it's a blank. They seem to be names I'd never remember either. Hmm.

As for my real life name, people don't in particular mispronounce it the more often call me the wrong name as the name Christine does sound similar to the name Christina, but this I've grown up with and adapted to it. Teachers still get it wrong. But the most common thing for me is when it's Christmas and when it is the Christmas season they actually call me Christmas instead.

I pronounced Yuoaman correctly from the start. Nothing else matters.

People misspell my rl name all the time, but I've never had an issue with any of my online names, and I'm usually pretty good about figuring out pronunciations. So, I don't have much trouble with other people's names.

People often misspell my name, but always pronounce it right. On the opposite end of the spectrum, people can always spell my sister's name right, but can never pronounce it.

Yes, I have, but I forget who. XD

And no one has pronounced my name wrong.

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?
    Well, some. =)
    If so who?
Patchisou Yutohru. XD It sounds unique and all, but I dunno how to pronounce it.

My name is Kevin, so nope. xP

    Pachitisuo Youghtu (Can't spell it.)

Many people always pronounce and spell my name wrong. I tell them what it is, but still do it afterwards. X(

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?

    Yes...

    If so who?
Pachy. It's it "Pack-y" or "Pa-chee", like the Touhou character...?

Also, in real life, Chiedza Mupanomunda. Took me about two days and fifteen tries to get it right, but it's not a name you forget.

See, it's not "Chee-ed-za", like you'd read it. It's "Sh-yedza"... I can't really write out what you have to do with your mouth (Oh, THAT sounded dirty...).

The last name is easy, but you have to break it down and not slur it, which is hard for me.

    "Moo Pah No Moon Duh"

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?
    ...oh, here we go.

The "eu" is not an "oy." The "t" is not a "d."

That's all I'm saying, as... I'd rather not give out my last name.

My first name has been butchered in a variety of ways.

    The kicker?

It's a shortened version of a common English name.

Lots of people complaining about Patchisou Yutohru, but . . . I don't find it so hard. The only ones I find a little gnarly are those like Ryoutarou, with the ryo, ryu, rya phonemes that don't come naturally to English-speakers. I usually end up twisting my tongue around those quite a bit.

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?
I've come across quite a few that I've never gotten the hang of how to pronounce, indecently I always find it hard to pronounce some Japanese names, even though my current username is, it's easy to pronounce.

    If so who?
Certain members with the special characters since I don't exactly fully understand the certain language myself, mainly not in English in particular, I have no certain ones on my mind at the moment but still might edit this later.

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?
No, it's quite simple, and even more simpler since most call me by my middle name 'Paul' though I prefer Fernando over Paul, but still it doesn't really bother me much. I'd find it quite funny if someone every mispronounced my names, 'cause it's quite easy in my opinion.

Until now, I thought it was Pachirisu Yutohru. Guess I just never read it right.

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?
yes, there was a username in Chinese, I could not pronounce it.(duh!):paranoid:
    also a lot of others,but i forgot them:tired:
Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?
no, Andrew is easy to say and spell(those of you who dont know my real name.

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?
Frequently, actually! It's really surprising. I have to space it out to pronounce it.

    If so who?
A woman I used to work with was named Apherail. It was pronounced "Ae-po-rael" and I had trouble pronouncing it.

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?
    I don't think so.

Have you found it hard to ever pronounce someone's username?

    Yup

    If so who?

It was a word with letters randomly stuck in. I forget who tho, they don't come on here anymore.

Has someone ever Mispronounced your name in real life?

    Everyone who isn't Indian has.

I don't find it hard to pronounce anyone's username at all. Also, my RL name has been mispronounced only a few times.

I usually don't trip over usernames that badly. Assuming it's actually written in the English alphabet, I can figure out the pronunciation just by staring at it long enough. Not even Nick's username was really hard for me to understand. XD

Of course, if you're one of those people that use oriental alphabets for your username, I don't even try. I kno wa little bit of katakana, but that's not enough to keep me from calling you "that guy with the Japanese name" or an alternate name, if present. XD

As for irl, all three of my names, first, middle, and last, are fairly common names in the English-speaking world, so anyone that mispronounces them simply fail at life indefinitely. XD

Oh, and for the record, my name is "Shang-hai Alice."

    The Chinese City.
    And the name.

Just in case y'all had trouble.

There are a few grand and dandy usernames that I can't pronounce, it bugs me. Horribly so. But... I don't feel like bothering the lot of 'em.

People don't pronounce my name wrong. Some spell it wrong. Others call me by my brothers name(teachers, mostly) and I've just grown used to it. It is too much a bother to correct it, seeing as how It's been happening since the first grade.

Oh, and lots of people pronounce my last name wrong. The end is "tino" and a lot people tend say it as "tiano" So.. yeah. That bugs me.

Some people have trouble spelling my username on other forums. They usually omit the r and/or add a t, so I get called "Astrodig" a lot.
And to say it, think of "Az-row-drig".
My real life name is rarely mispronounced, since it happens to be similar to a certain baseball player.
I do get all kinds of creative spelling though.
