So, everyone here knows about the people who complain about Unova's pokemon, right?
Examples of what i'm talking about:
    -People whining about Vanilluxe
    -People whining about Trubbish
    -People whining about Klinklang
    -People whining about Stunfisk
    -People whining about Amoonguss
Why are there so many weird pokemon from Unova?

    I dunno but....
Vanilluxe- Why do people hate this it's a giant ice cream cone!!
Trubbush- Tbh I always thought it was cute. ._.
Klinklang- Yeah this one's a bit weird.....
Stunfisk- IT LAUGHS AFTER KILLING OFF MY POKEMON AND THEN LAUGHS WHEN I KILL IT LIKE IT KNOWS SOMETHING
Amoongus- I thought a lot of people actually liked this one... Guess I'm not such a good listener after all lol. :P

I think they just don't like it cause of the feel Univa Pokemon give off.
    Kanto-Originality
    Johto-Familiarity
    Hoenn-Newness
    Sinnoh-Brightness
Unova-An even broader scale of newness
    Kalos-Reality
Too much newness/change can mess with a person.

To be honest, a majority of the Generation V Pokémon don't even look that bad.

Every region has its fair share of ridiculous-looking Pokémon, though I think the reason why Unova's received more attention is because B/W forced you to play with only the newer Pokémon, until a certain point in the game.

Well to me Unova has the best pokés in the history of the games. Everyone forgets that gen. 1 had grimer/muk, voltorb/electrode and things like unown in gen. 2. To me they look awful.
I love unova and I don't think it's us whining, I think it's because it's not in the same scheme as the other regions, it became something new. The persons loving gen 1 & 2 dislike this newness I think. Just because it's different from what they thought it was.

People have to accept that there are some things you don't like and some things you do like.

Although Unova did have its fair share of strangely-designed Pokémon, with Vanilluxe family being one of them, it still had some nice and elegant-looking ones, at least in my opinion.

Of them all, one is definitely Volcarona. It's bug-fire, which is a rather unique combination. On top of this, I'm sure many of us would agree that its appearance goes along with the Pokémon without much trouble at all. Volcarona's colors are orange, red, dark brown, and white, if I'm not wrong, and they complement each other quite well when put together.

Aside from above, few other Pokémon that stand out to me are Genesect, Keldeo, Zekrom, and Serperior (including all its pre-evolution forms).

I like the design of many of the gen 5 Pokemon. There was a time when I felt a little uncomfortable about them, but that changed over time as I started using them on some of my teams, including the Vanillite line. Some might say they were a little uncreative (or too create) and clones of already existing Pokemon (Ferrothorn->Forretress), but I don't think so.

If I had to put them into a list of my most favorite generations in terms of design, they'd definitely end up in my top three.

I'd say it's mixed, but it gets far more criticism than it should.

I actually really like some of the designs from Gen VI, Whimsicott, Reuniclus, Vanilluxe, Zebstrika, Gothitelle, Lilligant are amongst my favourites from Black & White.

Gen 5 is by far the most polarizing for me.

If I gave a list of my top 20 and bottom 20, it would likely have the most of both groups.

Despite hating most of Unova, some of it's Pokemon do actually have great designs. A lot of my favourite Pokemon come from Unova (Reuniclus, Volcarona, Liepard) but I think things like Siglyph or however you spell that thing are...too odd. Gen VI had worse designs though so I'm not complaining too much about Gen V. :]

As somebody who is striving to become a character designer, I think that Unova Pokémon designs are very interesting. Not all of them are prefect, of course, but I do feel as if they're unfairly judged.

I think the reason why people make a big deal out of Pokémon like Vanillite and Stunfisk is because of beauty. Many of the most popular Pokémon, namely Pikachu, Gardevoir, Mewtwo and many others are loved thanks to their designs, because people love cute/cool animals. Since many fans grew up with these Pokémon, they get so used to their designs that it's alienating for them to see a Pokémon that looks different to what they're used to.

I should also mention that even if Game Freak can do some silly mistakes, I do respect them for all of the designs they have made. Some people think that it's just as easy as making a half-assed design, when in reality, it is not as easy as what they think. When designing, you gotta consider many things, such as concept art, references, silhouettes, anatomy and many other essential tools. If you miss one detail, you would get some pretty awkward designs, such as Plusle and Minun. It's just funny to hear somebody talk about how Game Freak is stupid thanks to one measly design, when in reality their poorly-designed, clichéd Dark/Psychic type wolves would get them nowhere.

Given this is my fave generation, it's no surprise I fell in love with most of the Pokemon designs. Even the Vanillite line, which cops a lot of hatred from people, but deep down I think they're really cute.

Among most of my fave designs, as far as entire evolution lines go include the Gothita line, Solosis line, Elgyem line, Litwick line, Joltik line, Sandile line, Mienfoo line, Sewaddle line, Deino line, Cottonee line, Frillish line, Petilil line, Cubchoo line, Pawniard line, Larvesta line, Purrloin line, Munna line, Drilbur line, Zorua line, Minccino line, Woobat line, Venipede line, Scraggy line, Sigilyph, all the elemental monkeys, Emolga, both fossil lines, all the starter lines (especially Oshawott's), Meloetta, Victini and the Tao Dragons.

Aside from that, there's not much that is on my "hate" list, but then we have hilarious ones like Stunfisk, and to a lesser extent Palpitoad. (Tympole is adorable though, while Seismitoad's the only member of that evolution line that I'm not as much into)
