Nintendo/Gamefreak/Pokemon USA could very well leave the trigger the same as in the Japanese version, meaning that it would still require the Japanese Shaymin event. Since there is no precedent for such a trigger, as far as I can recall, it is difficult to call one way or another.
 
In that case, I guess we'll just find out when an English Shaymin is released. |:
 
It's been proven that the only check for receiving the Gracidea Flower is a Shaymin that's been met in a "fateful encounter".
So basically you could hack a Shaymin and as long as it had the "fateful encounter" flag, you would be able to receive the Gracidea Flower.

Also, any Shaymin can transform into Skymin with the flower, regardless of "fateful encounter" or anything.
 
It really is a ridiculous check. You could hack a Shaymin met at level 0 in Johto on Route 999 and in a Safari Ball, but as long as it says "Fateful Encounter", it's a-okay and will trigger the Flower. A similar stupid trigger is put up that lets the Golem trio out, but the only check is basically that it isn't any of the in-game Regigias.

yep that is true tried it for kicks.
 
But why would it only recieve the Glacieda Flower with "a fateful encounter"? Does that mean anyone could hack any normal Shaymin and make It's satus "a fateful encounter" and still it would be able to turn into a Skymin.

That's the way the script for receiving the flower was written. Basically they assume people are not going to hack their pokemon and hence the only way to get the Flower is by getting the event shaymin.

It seems that the Pre-Order Regigigas is hitting the US straight after Shaymin.

...from the poster that he posted? It's a TRU event. You download it to D/P, and then transfer it later to Plat to activate the Golem trio.

And to clarify (if it needs to be): Movie Shaymin only allows you to obtain the Flower. You can not activate the Flower with ANY other (at this point, hacked) Shaymin. But after you get the Flower, you can transfer ANY Shaymin into Skymin.

The point of Pokemon events is to promote the franchise as a whole. Besides the Nintendo World Store in NYC, no one else sells the same amount of Pokemon merchandise that TRU has. Games, toys, DVD releases of the show and movie, and so on. If they don't have a sale going on, they're at least prominently featuring the movies and stuff close to where the event downloading is. Stores such as Wal-Mart and Target are too general and don't sell enough Pokemon merch, Gamestop stores are relatively small and will only have a handful of games to sell, etc...

For example: The WonderCard for the TRU Darkrai is actually called "The Rise of Darkrai", the name of the Darkrai movie.
 
I know why TRU hosts the events, I'm not dumb. Tac was asking where the Shaymin event would be, thus my comment.

Well, since I've started playing PKMN again, I know Gamestop has had events and so has TRU. That's why I asked.
 
A little before the TRU Regigigas is released, which is in a few weeks. So, soon.
