Valentines Day Event Feedback!

Since Feb is now over, I just wanted to post this because I liked holding the event with Miss Doronjo, Bloodex and Forever, and I would like to do it next year if given the chance.

Is there anything you would like to see changed (other than an earlier start) for the NewlyWeds Challenge, the Matchmaker thread, and/or the V-day Chat thread?


I know I would already like to do a lot of things different (more time for the events, having people who want to post in the pair thread make sure they are active, giving an option of friendly or regular if romantic pairs cant be paired, etc.)


Is there anything you would like to see for next year? Throw any suggestions or feedback here please!! :3

Hm, on my part, perhaps the NewlyWeds Challenge questions should of been more simpler, than more 'out of the box'. However, I was surprised on the amount of questions people got right together so maybe it didn't matter too much? @__@

I also wasn't sure about the idea on posting the answers on the thread publicly, so I just kept them privately... would people mind if they were posted publicly?

Well the only event I took part in was the Newlyweds, which I thought was managed very well (aside from the late start but that's a simple thing). The questions while quite abstract (and horrifying on first viewing), were much more fun than just simple factual questions, not allowing you to practice with your pair and really coming down to understanding someone's personality more than just knowing random facts. So that was great. I took a quick glance in the V-Day Discussion thing and it looked great to me as someone who never really bothered / had time to take part in it so really I've no complaints. It was a cool event, I'd love to see it back in 2014.

I felt the same way too. :/ Although my pair didn't submit his, we did discuss the questions at some point and he just made fun of them the whole time lol. Some of them were a bit strange too. Not all people that are paired, especially anyone that got paired in the matchmaker event that also entered newlyweds, would know each other THAT well. So a mixture of the abstract questions and some smaller questions would have been nice. The question about rubbing your belly and patting your head was a bit...weird imo. I mean...no one really discusses that lmao. ;(

As for the Matchmaker Event, I think we should have an activity limit on that. I know Necrum got paired with someone that had two posts and didn't sign back on after posting in that thread, so that was kind of useless. I think to participate in that one, you need to have been active in the last month so that people don't get stuck with someone that just leaves. I know it's for fun, but I mean, what's the fun in it if that person's matchmaker pair just up and leaves?

I didn't look at the chat thread, but I mean, I can't imagine where a chat thread would go wrong. XD

I think what you did with this was fine. Keep them private unless the person is okay with you posting them (which I was!). :)

Overall, I think the Newlyweds event was enjoyable and I wouldn't mind seeing it back again next year! Just as long as we fix up the questions a bit. XD

Ugh, yeah that's true.

Maybe next time out of those 10 or so questions, maybe only 2 or 3 of them can be more abstract and the rest being simple like 'what's your pair's favourite colour', etc, etc. I got mixed reactions from these questions, so, it'd make sense, I guess.

If anything, hold the events earlier, obviously. Gives people more time to have fun and sign up and etc etc.

I'm not sure about the Newlyweds Challenge since I didn't join (been a long time since I got paired) but from what I see it was fun.

The Matchmaker thread definitely had its no shows, which sucked. The romantic pair this was also kind of a fail, iirc. But I don't know if that was from people not liking the idea, or there simply not being time to advertise.

The chat thread was kind of mediocre, but I guess that can be attributed to the fact it opened maybe 2 days before V-day. I imagine it'd be more active if we opened it earlier. =P

I think 15 would be good. 20 feels like too much, but if there are more simple questions than abstract, I think it could work. Any more than that would be overkill. The golden number imo would be 15.

I didn't partake in this, but I did read it and from what I read, the "romantic pair" part implied that you were gonna get set up with someone to actually date them. And I don't think a lot of people are looking for that. So I think that could either be scrapped or worded better, cause for all I know, it probably wasn't meant to be in the way that I thought, but the way I read it, it sure did sound like it.

Earlier start IS one of hte thing I'd like to see but also more time to answer the questions for the Newly Challenge and more time for sign-ups. Cosmotone8 and I really didn't alot of time to talk and get to know each other a bit more mainly since he was on vacation, but also the time betwen sign-up and having to answer the questions was short.

But beside that, I agree with Sydian , the questions need to be more simpler and about more mundane stuff. As much as I've talked to Cosmotone, before the challenge ( like we're pretty good friends on PC.) I've never talked to him about rubbing my belly and patting my head at the same time.

I think maybe there should be more events for the two people who get paired up for the Matchmakers Event. I don't have lots of ideas of for events, but maybe like some kind of event were you and your pair can have a double battle with another pair? I'm not sure if that's really possible, but I have no more ideas atm. But the Newlyweds Challenge was the only real thing I did and felt we could have alot more events so there more involvement and participation with the pairs.

7-9 days sounds good to me. That gives more time to sin up and get to know their pair and such. So like a week before or week during Valentine's Day.

Hm. I did thought about having more than one round that can separate groups of questions such as this; though I was just worried about the deadlines, etc, etc, so I never went through with it. But yeah, I do like this idea as well! Although, would the questions be even in each group then? Like.. 10 questions with each group?

I'd go with 10 per group yeah, 20 doesn't seem like too much to me. If people do find 20 too much then there's no reason they have to answer both at once anyway, or maybe there could even be different winners for different categories or whatever. That can all be sorted nearer the time but 20 seems like a nice number to me :)

For the Matchmaker thread, I would suggest only putting people that are active and not people that signed up for the event and never return to PC ever again. It kinda made the event suck for some people.

Some of the crazier questions were definitely my fault and I'm sorry for that! But it's more that you could've got to know your partner without actually asking, and just "knowing" them in a way? Rather than just factual, or at least why I figured they could be interesting.

Anyway sorry for not being around during it I just... needed to stay away at the time. :x Doronjo you did good at hosting it though, so thank you for stepping in at last minute :)

The questions were really good, Nica. I thought it was gonna be easy like what's your partner's favorite color and all those kind of questions. But the questions you asked really threw us all off, haha. Good work on the questions, Nica! :)

Well, to be fair, a few of those 'crazy questions' were just 'yes or no' questions, or just, "one thing or another", so, your chances were abouuut 50-50? XD But yes, two rounds, or two groups of questions can be better!

I should've made that clearer. So this is my fault. This was more for people/ pairs to act lovey-dovey with each other. Nothing serious, but almost like a quirky "blind date" sort of pair that would be just for the events AND/OR for longer if people wanted to stay paired.

LilJz, I agree with you on the activity, but it is also really hard for me to decide who is going to be active and who isn't. At first I was gonna limit it to 100 posts or something.. but then, I wouldn't want to deter newbies if they really want to keep active on PC.. So not too sure how to approach this. Maybe just a disclaimer and at least 50 posts?
