Video Game Series you'd wish died off?

Outside of the mandatory CoD mentions, Final Fantasy. Like, there's no reason to call it "Final" when there's always another game.
On the other hand, when the truly final one comes, they can say "Welp, we said it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

I wish Spyro died off well before Skylanders and honestly the trilogy before that. I'd rather see it dead than have it butchered like it has and is been at the moment. Spyro was a childhood favourite of mine (and still is) so it actually sucks balls that I have to see it being milked for everything its worth. Even if that means producing games for 5 year olds. Not to mention it's an expensive game!

Crash Bandicoot is another one. Although it has died off I wish it died sooner if it had to. Honestly, the last couple of games were atrocious. I don't understand why they changed the look of crash and every other character. It didn't make sense to me and that's what put me off the series. Hopefully the rumors about him returning to the ps4 are true though - if however, slim. If he does let's hope he comes back like he originally was.

edit: also I've never understood the hate for CoD. I mean, if you've played it and enjoyed it, you've already earned your money's worth back. Even if you have screaming twelvies mouthing off at you 24/7.

Ah yeah. I forgot to mention a series I wanted axed. I apologize for not mentioning it before but it really deserves its own catagory: Sonic the Hedgehog.

I have never seen a series before that contains both some of the best games and some of the worst games in history. On one hand you have the classic Genesis games like Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic CD, and on the other hand you have games that have been nominated for worst video game of all time like Sonic '06 and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. JonTron theorized they were doing some serious drugs over there and I really have to wonder if that's the case. How do you go from making wonderful games like Sonic and Knuckles to making horribly atrocious poor excuses for games like Sonic '06 and Sonic R?

Sonic really needs to die. He's been shambling as a zombie since the Dreamcast and hasn't really gotten much better since. Sure maybe there's a few good games like Sonic Colors or Sonic Generations but in general the series is as moldy and rotten as a 3 month old bag of tomatoes.

Come on guys, CoD and FIFA aren't THAT bad. They're quite fun actually. They're cashgrabs for sure but they're fun too. If they weren't, I doubt they'd sell much :P

That said, I have no series I hate so much that I wanna see them actually die off.
Well no one said they weren't. The problem is they're made every single year and tend to diminish in quality with each release. The only reason they are made is to replace the one that came before it; with FIFA this makes sense because it's updating the rosters and taking in the changes that were made that year, but with CoD there is no such excuse. They're just making new games like no tomorrow because they know people will buy the latest one even though there isn't that much change to begin with. Even the people playing them are getting tired of it.

CoD seriously needs a LONG hiatus. If they continue (sure they will) I'm positive all the 'improvements' they make to online could be done by DLC and patches, same goes with stories, they could be DLC. Honestly no reason why there is a yearly release other than cashgrab.

And this is exactly why it does NOT make sense.
All you need to do is release a roster DLC and release full-fledged game once per 3 years with all the improvements.

No one mentioned sonic yet? I would say they should just stick to 2D style games but seeing how SEGA managed to fuck up Sonic 4 that would still even end up badly.

Also we really need to stop having yearly instalments of Just Dance. Just release a base version every few years and release yearly DLC packs and upgrades. When you have to give your series the same naming convention of yearly football games you're milking the series dry.

Sonic needs another big awesome game like the first two Sonic Adventure games.. Including a full-blown Chao Universe!

CoD, GTA, etc. need to go on a long hiatus.

I mentioned it earlier and I'm with you: they need to put him out to pasture, bad. Back in the 90s if you told everybody you were a Sonic fan you'd be celebrated for having good taste in video games, because back then they were the pinnacle of gaming. Nowadays if you say that everybody looks at you weird and wonders what the heck is wrong with you. I grew up with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic Gems Collection and I'm happy I was stuck with that because they just went downhill after they left the Genesis. I admittedly have to hand it to them though; the Sonic franchise should have been killed twice over already, and yet because of that rabid crazy fanbase they survived. Those guys buy anything with Sonic's mug on it and like it.

I've never actually played either game, and since a former friend of mine who happened to be a hardcore Sonic fan recommended them I'm sorta wary. Sure they might actually be good games but this guy liked Sonic '06 and thought it was a good game, and wasn't a fan of the classic Genesis games at all. If your taste in video games is that screwed up there's no way I can take your recommendations seriously.

With that said, I always felt Sonic played best with an emphasis on the platforming and less of an emphasis on the story. Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Sonic CD had excuse plots that basically boiled down to Dr. Robotnik was doing something evil like jamming animals in robots and you had to stop him, and all of those games are complete classics that are still very fun to play to this day. Maybe because instead of you going down the same areas over and over again or having to deal with a story that you'd expect to find in an RPG they focused on the game looking good and being very fun to play, which... isn't... something they do these days....

The two Sonic Adventure games have been generally well-received. Sonic 06 was pretty awful thouh.
