Chit-Chat: Watch out for Ghosts...

Gen V did seem to do its utmost to drive players off...it succeeded admirably on that front for me. Although Sun outstripped it, as I never even finished that. I at least finished Black...was too stubborn to let it get the better of me, haha. Although yeah, some of the late evolutions seemed a tad excessive, especially given the diminishing returns on EXP...

I seeeee. I kinda get that, as I do a lot of grinding in RPGs whilst I'm doing other things. I guess the thing about it I don't get is how you can't be so annoyed you never want to do it again if you never find anything; it'd be a waste of time. The lack of certainty that you'll actually find what you want is what puts me off...there was that one guy who spent 15 years soft resetting for a shiny Mewtwo or something that springs to mind. RNG is cruel.

350.

Spending so long soft resetting for one Shiny Pokemon is very strange for me especially as in the pre Gen 6 games the Shiny Chance was 1/8096.

Indeed I never found a Shiny apart from the Red Gyardos until X where I found a random Shiny green eyed Golett. :) Amazingly I managed to find two random Shiny Gibles in the same playthrough. :D

Having the Shiny Charm certainly helps with Shiny hunting but soft resetting for a Shiny Legendary isn't something I plan trying anytime soon.

352

Hence why I stopped shiny hunting after XY haha

353

RNG hates me, so I would never shiny hunt. Seriously, I have negative luck when it comes to these things. Honestly, a lot of shiny Pokemon have inferior colour schemes to normal ones anyway in my opinion. xD

Also yay this is my 8000th post

354.

My luckiest ever Shiny find and the most elated I have been at finding a Shiny was when I found a Shiny Female Ralts whilst looking for a Shiny Gothita.

Shiny Mega Gardevoir may be the best Shiny in the entire game and I was very pleased to catch my own. Due to Rants sometimes having Teleport or Memento I caught her in my Master Ball. She is now an elegant Shiny Gardevoir. :D

355.

I gotta agree with LilyGardy, Gardevoir is also my favorite shiny. The blue colors really go with it.
I seem to have a poor history with shinies, in the past I mean. Now I hunt/trade for them. But the first shiny encounter (Bronzong), I fainted because I didn't know about shinies. Once I also found a shiny Rattata in SS, but it was during the point where you could not yet obtain Poke Balls. The last unfortunate shiny was one that I never thought could happen: In the introductory scene in Pokemon BW, the professor sent out a shiny Minccino. ;-;

Back when I was new to Pokemon, I watched my friend, who was my introduction to the series, catch a shiny Ralts. It looked different to the ones I'd seen so far, so I asked why that was and he said it was because it was a male.

I dunno if he ever realized how rare that was.

I used to do a lot of trading, but people always asked too much for shinies for me to want them...or just wanted things I didn't have, like perfect IV/EV Pokemon that, really, were far more of an effort to obtain.

358.

Radiating, you have bad luck with Shinys. :(

My only Shiny fails have been a Shiny Electrode blowing up on me in X and a Shiny Riolu calling another Shiny Riolu during an SOS chain.

I have caught three Shiny Riolu all with good natures. (Timid, Jolly, Naive).
Indeed I often use the Jolly one in the Battle Tree. :)

When I get Shiny duplicates of a Pokemon I tend to give them away. Make someone happy. :)

359

I would say shiny Riolu are terribly bad luck. One would be bad enough, but three? xD

360.

I like the Yellow of the Shiny Riolu line but it is not for everyone. I think the Yellow Shiny Coloration ties into the Egyptian theme of the line.

As for Shinys I don't like I am not a fan of how a lot of Grass Shinys tend to turn brown (Like Shiny Exeggcutor) or the unusually high number of lime green shinys. (Like Ursaring and Scizor)

My favourite Grass Shiny is surprisingly not Shiny Lilligant but is Shiny Cottonee that turns an adorable orange colour with green eyes when shiny. :)

I was thinking more because it's Riolu, rather than due to the colour =P

I like how a lot of ice-type shiny Pokemon - Articuno, Froslass, Glaceon, etc - get a lot lighter. With some of them you can't really tell the difference, but with others it makes them look...more like ice types? xD

363

I have an unreasonable grudge against anthropomorphic foxes, don't mind me. xD;

Froslass is still more noticeable than Garchomp, though...which is like a fraction of a shade different, haha.

I think Steelix is actually one of my favourite shinies - I already like it as a Pokemon, but it looks like it's made out of gold! Although part of me wishes it was blue in a nod to the crystal Onix from the anime...same as how Kecleon's shiny should be purple and not just exactly the same only with a blue stripe =x

364.

Despite it's underwhelming Shiny I am pleased to own a Shiny Garchomp. It's Shiny Mega is purple which wouldn't be ideal but luckily my Shiny Garchomp is female. :)

Shiny Steelix is indeed very nice, unfortunately there is no easy way to obtain a Shiny Onix.

As cute as Kecleon is it is disappointing it's Shiny is not purple like in the Mystery Dungeon games

366

Laughing as long as none of that happens to you. xD;

Honestly, I'd love to rebuild my fragmented collection, but I have so much else to do, and I think I'll always be worried now about keeping stuff on cartridges in case of corruption...and I have a thing against Pokemon Bank, haha. I think my sub is about to expire, actually...

367

I've never really cared about shinies too much. If I find one & catch it, well & good, if not, doesn't matter much, I mean they are just coloured differently that's all. Ya, some of them look better than their Normal counterparts, but its not like they are stronger or anything.

If you really want to catch Shinies though, there's a very easy way to do that & it never fails:-

Spoiler:

Pika Pika :chu:

There are no cheat codes for Gen VI or VII, though. Well, not unless you have software to hack into your games or something...I don't think they make Action Replay devices for the 3DS. I dunno, I've not looked. But that would definitely be an easy way of doing it. xD
