Website Annoyance's
Ok,I'm starting this topic as an opinion on what I think way too many people commit on websites. So I bring here my Website Annoyance's topic telling you whatever people do that annoys every visitor on the page. Please only post opinions and not dum posts saying "This should be locked!!" or "There is no point in this topic. *Gets staff*" Stop pointing out C&C's. It isn't helping members in your part. If not showing how much back seat modding stinks. Although,I didn't start this just to say that,so without any further ado..
Background Music
This really ticks me off. And alot,people use background music on the website that basically disturbs the visitor and it makes the visitor leave without the page finishing loading. It's fine to have background music IF:
A)It's calm music that isn't rock or any loud music.
B)If you warn people in the splash page(if you have one) about the music.
Take into consideration the people who have there speakers to full volume? I mean BG music is way over-used. And apparently I see this on freewebs only and some other cooped up pre-made bravenet sites.
Un-Readable Color Scheme
The most classic of them all,not done by most people although done by tons. These people just love to use eye hurting layouts such as: Lime Green text,white background,blue links and any other eye hurting you can think of. people don't use these type of monotone layouts or whatever they call them,they're going to drive visitors away and quicker than the BG Music.
Pre-Made Layouts
All webmasters hate this,and when I say all of them I mean ALL of them. The most commonly used layouts are freewebs ones which we all are aware of that. This is one of the most pathetic of them all. Guys,just learn HTML. It's not a language that takes ages to learn. I learned HTML in only 5 days after I made the topic about MegaUniverse,which Morkula told me to learn HTML before making a serious site. (Thanks Morkula,if I didn't learn HTML I wouldn't be the person I was today. Although you didn't teach HTML to me.:-D)
HTTP 404
We're so happy when we enter a website seeing that the menu is full of 200 links. Your so excited clicking on the page your looking for while something comes and tells you... "I'm sorry,but I haven't made this page yet,Keep checking back!!". Close your site down if you haven't made it yet,it serves no point in having those links there. It's best to CREATE your site before HOSTING it. I commited this mistake once and I won't ever do it again. Although if you see 404's on my site it's the cause of me being stupid and placing the wrong link.
Forum Portals
This is my most favorite one,personally I think this should just stop. People think they're clever advertizing there website with exactly no content and with a forum link leading to a plain boring Invision Free forum with a skin from the Invision Free skin zone,And 5 members and 1 post. So what's it going to be? A website or a forum? You won't get members by having no content and a forum. The way to do it is to get proper content,when users see the content they think the community will be a big hit to the site.
Plaigirism
One thing: COME UP WITH YOUR OWN. If you aren't a good artist, PRACTICE. I wasn't a good artist before. Now I am. After practicing. Don't be a lazy bum and steal. People will hate you for that. Your using a few things from Serebii? Ok,just use it in YOUR own words. Don't copy and paste into your content area word to word. It's not cool,I use some content from SPP and you don't see me copying word from word , paragraph from paragraph
I haven't thought of more annoyances commited, although when I think of more I shall edit this post.
Discuss and post annoyances as you wish,or give feedback on how I cracked every annoyance I found.
