Hey, thanks for listening! I've been loving this hack, and I can see it become one of those "I'll replay it with a challenge run/mono type/just a different team" ways. Should finish it first though.
I've got another comment to make, and I wanna clarify that I don't mean to be disrespectful or demand anything, it's more of a food for thought thing.
I've noticed that most mons have their vanilla BST, and it makes some of the designs feel a little weird, on top of some vanilla mons having pretty shitty spreads by default (poor Sunflora). Or another case I saw with Roselia line being a special attacker, but having Hustle (and on the other hand, Misdreavus with Huge Power is just incredible, so happy with my shiny). A few moves seem to be a bit randomly placed, like they could have made place for better choices. Like Sampo on Gossifleur is its last move before it evolves at 20, since Rock Smash is another Physical-type move. Now, I know Gossifleur has equal attacking stats, but Eldegoss is a distinguished special (80 vs 50). And it's a big gap to make up for when its only attacking moves are physical and you're running 50 Attack. Even the TMs aren't as helpful from the way from 1st to 2nd Gym
I know it's a lot of work, thoughts and labor, so this is more of a question if you'd have plans about it in the future. It's Gen 3 after all, and we have always played without being super optimal.
No disrespect taken! In fact balance, movesets etc. for various mons is something I really want to improve upon in the future. I updated movesets rather quickly and without enough consideration after I implemented the physical special split, so while most (I hope 8D) mons benefited from it others for sure didn't. TM distribution is another thing that I have not put nearly enough thought into, especially now that they're infinite and actually quite viable to use in a playthrough.
While I admit I'm the furthest thing from a game designer myself, I've been offered help with balance related aspects of the hack which I am incredibly grateful and excited for! My current focus is trying to knock out a couple of the bugs in known issues that
reeeally irritate me, but the first priority after that is absolutely cracking down on this kind of thing! I will absolutely take note of everything I've seen people mention as well, such as the issue you brought up with the Gossifleu line. Sure, improving the balance is a lot of work, but so very worth it!
And of course, many thanks for enjoying my rom, hopefully more so in the future! ^^
Which of trubbishs spawn locations has the best odds?because I've been looking around on route 24(the place with nugget bridge) and I'm not having great luck with it even on fast forward, I'm going to try to get one no matter how rare it is but knowing the best way to go about it would be nice, I love that little trash plush
It'd be nice if the Pokemon locations document listed their held items, learning I could steal stardust from mantyke early on was really good because money is a very limited resource before the first gym.
I would like to note that I enjoy the new types because you have elemental stuff like Chaos,Nature and Light, but also things like Knight, Dexterity ,Toy and Food, which refer to physical traits, fighting style and personality, it feels very true to the original philosophy of the Pokemon types, where it isn't just fire, water, etc but dark, fighting, bug, etc
I do have a nitpick about route 24 and 25, they seem mostly have the same Pokemon, I think maybe Cutiefly,Bellsprout or Bounsweet could be taken off one of those encounter tables, just so they feel less samey, I think it's like this in fire red as well but I don't like it there either tbh.
Keep up the good work by the way, I've been enjoying this rom hack for the most part.
Based on my many test runs, I'd say Trubbish is easiest to find
on the route above Vermilion City. And hehe, glad you like it!
I'm planning on making a list of pokémon that includes their types and bst since it was requested, and that document feels like a perfect place to include wild held items as well.
Quite a few gem type pokémon have pearls, big pearls and even nuggets as possible held items as well. I also added some early pickup pokémon to help with money! But then, it's totally true that making this info available and accessible is something I proooobably should have thought of earlier haha 😅
I am also more than glad to adjust the encounter table on 24 and 25, esp since I've received requests that Sevii pokémon be made available earlier (which just makes me happy haha). It's effectively perfect that there's a route with so many easy slots to give to some of the currently post-game only pokémon!
Thanks a bunch and hope you continue to have a good time!
