FireRed hack: Weird Type Fun v1.93 (complete type swap hack)

I absolutely love this romhack. I had a question. I tried to make 2 saves, one as a regular play through and another personal save to test PKSM. Whenever I load the PKSM save, it corrupts it and brings it back to the latest save. Is there any compatibility for PKSM planned for the future?

I'm enjoying the hack so far, but I have a few questions. First, how do you actually update the game? I feel like I might know, but I don't feel like taking the risk of corrupting my save file without actually making sure. Second, do you have recommendations on when to evolve stone evolution Pokemon? I don't know if the stone evolutions in this game actually learn moves or not, I feel like you would have changed them but again, I just want to make sure.

Edit: Oh yeah, also Gym Leader level caps would be useful.

if i may ask, what pokemon holds the two mushroom items?
the move reminder in this game is honestly a lot more useful, because a lot of pokemon's level up movesets arent all that great
i would ask if it would be possible to make it free and add him to every center, but i dont wanna have to delay the next update even further

Looks like the documentation is still funky. Sorry about that, I'll look into it! According to rom data, Vanillite should indeed not be there so I'm very confused as to what is going on. Either way, Tatsugiri is a 1% with Super Rod (replacing the original Dratini encounter). It is much easier to find in the post-game at Navel Rock. I wouldn't mind bumping up the Safari Zone encounter rate a little bit, though.

This sounds like the hardcoding FRLG has with banning "national dex" evolutions before you obtain the national dex itself. However, in WTF you get that from the start, so that is very strange.

I ran some tests on the most recent patch, and the only way I was able to replicate this was on a fresh file before returning Oak's Parcel and thus getting the pokédex at all (which is quite easy by utilising the Pokémon Center nurse fights, as she is available from the get-go). After playing to the point of getting the pokédex and first pokéballs, Bayleef evolved normally in my tests.

If you do already have the pokédex already, all I can think of is checking that you used a 1.0 rom while applying the patch, other than that I'm currently drawing a blank. However! HexManiac comes with a script to disable this silly evolution block entirely (it just didn't occur to me I would need it, since the nat dex is given at the start and I never ran into this issue during testing), so I will see if it plays nice with my hack (sometimes the choices I made near the beginning of the project have caused issues in this kind of regard 😓). If there are no problems, I'll release a patch with it applied as a failsafe. Sorry about this and I hope I can solve this one way or another ASAP!
Ah lol ok thanks. Also if it helps I caught the vanilish (thought it was vanillite but was actually evolved) in area 2 with the super rod. Not sure if you need that info or not lol

So although I've been enjoying WTF so far, the only thing that I wish was included in the Documentation folder was a secondary doc for learnsets

Cause truth be told, it's kinda annoying having to soft reset or load a save state when realizing an Item Evo Mon ((i.e Delcatty)) isn't learning moves anymore

OHHHH that was my problem then, I was trying to evolve it before getting the dex cause I wanted to see which final evo I liked most. So it was just me missing something! Once I grabbed it, it evolved just fine. Probably should have done it in the first place lol. Thank you though!!
Glad it was solved! I'll look into removing that mechanic anyhoo, since that is a very valid thing to want to do!

I have a question regarding some encounters in Mt. Sylph: Are Spinarak/Ariados, Cherubi/Cherrim, and Shuckle actually available in this area? I've been running around and smashing rocks left and right with no luck. Just want to make sure I'm looking in the right place for these Pokemon.

That aside, I love your hack! It's a lot of fun to play and the spritework is gorgeous. You and your team have done such a fantastic job! It's easily up there as one of my favorite romhacks and I can absolutely see myself replaying this over and again for a long time. Much love to you and your team and I wish you the best with your future endeavors.
Those pokémon are in the post-game area of Mt.Sylph. Sorry for the confusion! I'll update the documentation with the next patch to make it more clear if I end up keeping the encounters this way!

Also thank you so much ^^

I've heard from a couple of people that external programs don't always work as intended with this hack (PKHeX as well). This wasn't my intention at all, so I imagine it's because of some shoddy hacking of mine 😰 If I can figure out how to mend this, I absolutely will, though I will have to ask around from more experienced hackers as to what could be causing it.

Depends on which platform / emulator you use! In most cases on the PC simply replacing the game file but making sure the name is the same as the save files will do, but for example the Miyoo mini (with or without Onion OS), something I've been using for testing on the side, will not load the save file or save states anymore if you do this. These are the only platforms I have experience with, though. Either way, I recommend always making backups just in case when trying to update.

For the stone evolutions, I apologise for the inconvenience! I plan on giving them the same movesets as their pre-evos or slightly modified versions of them in the balance update I'm working on (2.0). I've already implemented the move changes / some new moves, but it will take a while longer still to go over all 400+ learnsets 😅

Gym Leader level caps will definitely be in my power to include in the documentation, though! Thanks for the suggestion! This will also come with 2.0 though, as will as many of the things people have asked for I can manage.

Many food pokémon do, but the best place to farm is from the Tinkatink line in Navel Rock...which is post-game, oops 😰

I like the idea of a free and accessible relearner. I don't think it should be too difficult to implement so unless the event complexity somehow surprises me I don't imagine adding it to 2.0 would delay it too much.

Ah yes, Vanillish is indeed on the encounter table there. I am...not sure what my logic was there, hah. But at least it is working as intended for now, sort of.

How do I play this? I'm really aching to play
Since emulation and rom hacking are a bit of a grey area, you'll have to look online how to patch and play rom hacks I'm afraid! Not to worry though, it isn't very difficult and there are very clear guides and readily available resources for getting started.

Thanks! Learnsets are definitely on the To Do list for the dosumentation. That will also come with 2.0 though, since it changes moves and learnsets quite a bit. Sorry about that! Player convenience has been an, ah, learning experience for me since my focus was primarily on graphics when making this 8D

Reporting that Aimbot on the tm menu has trampolines description.

Also if tms are infinite then maybe move tutors should be as well? Its not a big deal but it just seems odd in my opinion.

Mm! That's fair! Just means that I'll have something to look forward too down the line! Just means I'll have to be a bit more careful with some stone evos until 2.0 arrives and we get that oh so needed moveset documentation!

Thanks! That's how I thought that the saves would work, but I wanted some confirmation. That's definitely a good change for the stone evolutions, they've always been weirdly handled and its always been hard to judge when to use them. I think an additional thing you could add to documentation is which fishing rods can catch which Pokemon, the document is a little vague on which can actually be caught.

Speaking of fishing, I was on Route 22 (i think, the one next to the pokemon league), and using the old rod to fish stuff up, and every single time was a high level Lumineon. Like, level 38s. Its pretty consistently ben Dunsparce and Zigzagoon in every other body of water with the old rod, so I don't feel like this is an intentional encounter.

it was probably just me but i think the chandalure in the gym at the town with the safari zone (forgot the name sorry) was to difficult but that thing kept one shotting me even as i was overleveled again it was probably just me but I'd thought I'd say my thoughts on that gym leader battle

also idk if this is gonna be in 2.0 but the backpack space needs to be bigger if it is gonna be in 2.0 and it was already announced sorry
also i was looking at the docs and i was wonder are more pokemon gonna be able to evolve with the mega scale???

I beat the Pokémon league and 3 of the 5 trainers have return on their Pokémon but the pokemon aren't at high happiness, so its a not very good move, otherwise it was a fun time, Agatha staying is a bit odd but she's also my favourite of the kanto elite 4 so I'm glad that if it was anyone it was her

Hello I have been having trouble trying to get the game to download do I need a specific version of Pokémon fire red to patch it onto or what

So far I've been enjoying the hack, my only real criticism is the amount of easy sleep affliction opponents have early on can be a bit much and make the game frustrating if you don't run a faster team.

Also, one suggestion. The move Hades Trap, how it mentions being trapped in the lights, have you considered renaming it to Dead Lights? If you did it would be a perfect reference to IT by Stephen King, given Pennywise traps you within its deadlights and immobilizes you with them.

OK so I'm probably just being dumb, but when it says that the other starters are available on Route 21, is there anything you need to do special to get them to show up or are they just really rare cause I've been at this for a while and still can't find em. If it helps I'm in the postgame cause I thought that might help.

From what I can tell, the encounter tables are a bit strange, possibly because of trying to fit more Pokemon into a smaller region like Kanto, so rare encounters are REALLY rare. Fast-forwarding helps if you can do that.
