Of course they don't care about our ROM hacks. It's a slap to the face to them.

Nintendo: Thanks a lot guys. You took a perfectly good FireRed and ruined it. Don't blame us if we start sueing. (Evil laughs come from the president)

Not necessarily. If it's such a slap in the face, don't you think they would do something? I think it's kinda a bit "isn't it good as it is?" and a bit "you like it so much you want to make your own game?!".
 
Yes, Nintendo should be credited, but I don't think you should credit everyone. you won't credit Satoshi Tajiri for creating the game, or Junichi Masuda for the music, and I have seen no one credit them seperately. Of course, when you credit Nintendo and Gamefreak, I guess you are supposed to assume/imply that it includes every single person in the game, including translators(when you are using a non-japanese rom.)
 
The patches only contain the changes that we have made, ie. no data that was created by GameFreak or Nintendo so technically we aren't using any of their copyright material (yes, I know this argument doesn't really hold water but I'm too tired to think about it now).

I don't really see the need for it.

Nintendo and Gamefreak should be credited because they are the reason Pokemons are here .
 
They do, the reason is because without them, no Games to change, something like that. So personally, I find the need to credit them.

100% because if it weren't for the Pokemon sprites and other stuff in the Pokemon games, they wouldn't have made their hacks

I think the "they" in his/her statement is about hackers.

Anyway, I don't really know. They already are mentioned in the game, at the beginning, unless changed. If you change that, then I think you should give credit for hacking it.
