What could be with the Pikachu caravan?

In one of the earliest trailers for this game, this caravan featuring a Pikachu design was teased, along with some cavern-type of area featuring several Pikachu playing around. While it was mentioned back in the early hype days and slightly speculated on, it seems to have been swept under the rug when the new trailer released and the attention has shifted to the current news, such as Ryuki and the rift above Poni Island, so it seems appropriate that I should revisit this topic about the Pikachu caravan.

What do you guys think it could be hinting at? I have a feeling it could have some connection with the lady in Konikoni City who gives you the Pikanium Z.

I don't think it'll serve as much of a purpose other than perhaps as the place to obtain the Pikanium Z like you said. Plus, we all know how much GF love to pander to Pikachu!

Like the others said, I feel it'll be the place to get the Pikanium Z. Considering that in S/M we had an NPC who would teach Volt Tackle (the move needed to use Catastropika) I feel we'll have someone in this caravan who can teach the move to a Pikachu as well.

It looks like there is also a slowpoke and pyukumuku with those pikachus. its probably just another route or something and cool place to obtain Pikanium Z.

Maybe the one Alolan Pikachu in exsitence lives in the caravan, but its overweight, has patchy stubble, and is wearing a stained wife-beater covered with dorito dust.
