The way you phrased what I quoted, it seemed to me that you were saying that the timeline was just theory, so my bad if I misinterpreted you. Though you also said that you were 'not well-versed in the whole timeline', so I assumed you just hadn't seen it yet and were still putting it together yourself.

His comment about ORAS being slightly later than RSE in the timeline also made it more confusing.
Well we do know the remakes take place in the same time as the originals according to the official timeline so ORAS will be too.

They confirmed the time line though. Also it was B2W2 not BW that had the Magma and Aqua grunts. I don't think they need to change anything, remakes don't always have to share their time with the main pair of the generation they're being remade in.

They confirmed it, but that wasn't really my point. I was saying if you took away all of the NPCs that were unimportant then you could really connect the games in a different order than they confirmed. Because of this, I think it's implying that the timeline is just an extra tidbit and not something super super important. /shrug

What really intrigues me is how ORAS is has a lot of major changes in RSE. Of course, HGSS had that so I shouldn't complain. But they didn't really retcon the existing cities like it would happen to Mauville City.

They did retcon the Kanto region as having become deforested though. As for Mauville it may be more of a mass redesign like what happened with the evil teams.

Someone who worked on Pokemon games since GSC tweeted about the timeline, so I guess that's enough to be called confirmed. We have a thread about it here, but it basically goes RB + RSE -> GSC + DPPt -> BW -> B2W2 + XY. The +'s indicate games that are happening at the same time.

The moment I saw this (before ORAS confirmed), I immediately thought to myself, "Huh, what perfect text to have ready in-place for hoenn remakes." I expect every type of communication between XY and ORAS, both trading and battles, to use this logic.

Note: Whereas Kanto/Hoenn and Johto/Sinnoh are in the same country, that Kalos/Hoenn are not. So "traveling across space" is a much-needed explanation just as traveling across time.
