What holds more value to you?

This is hard. I guess it depends on what it is that I was wanting.

Right now, the material object that means the most to me is my phone, which I wanted for a very long time. I got that from my grandfather and father because I had been promised it for Christmas as a present but never got it. I suppose this would categorize in between getting it for free and earning it because my father and grandfather were very proud of me for making a decision that took me a very long time to make and was difficult for me to do.

I'm sure it would mean more to me if I bought it with my own money, though. But it wouldn't have made a difference how much it means to me if I just randomly asked for it and some stranger gave it to me or anything. So, in the end, it depends on what it is and how badly I wanted it.

Something I worked hard for will always be the most satisfying.

If I study hard for a test and get a 100%, then I'm pleased more. If I earn money (which I do) to purchase a book or something else, I know that I worked hard to get it and appreciate it more. :>

Getting things for free is nice too, but definitely holds less value depending on whether the item is special to me or not.

Besides my family, my Computer. Because, I worked hard too get it. ^^
A gift for scoring in the exams. :P

Something I've worked hard to get. At least then you earn it.

The best things in life are free; I value free things far more than material objects that I've payed for. Example; I like looking back at some of the things me and friends have written. lol, I remember when I was about 11 me and my best friend at the time came up with a game design, we drew the characters and settings and wrote out the storyline, it was pretty rubbish, but I value it a lot.

I don't mind both, depending what I want and if I earn to get it. Sometimes I have friends and family who appreciate all the hard work I do, so I'm grateful if they give me a gift or something else. However, many times I work hard to get what I want, so in the end I'll be damn happy that all my efforts will pay off.

If I were to choose, I would have to go with working hard to get it. There are actually times I feel I don't deserve that gift they give me, so I feel guilty they have spent it (time and/or money) all for me. I do try to return it, but they say keep it. XD;

I've never really cared how I got something if I enjoy it. The object in question is what is important to me now how I obtained it. If I have to work for something I will, but I usually prefer to get something for free.

It would depend. Like, if someone gave me something that meant a lot to them, it'd hold a lot of value to me because they loved it, but still gave it away, even if I got it for free. Or, if I inherited something from someone, it'd mean a lot to me even if I didn't pay for it myself.

But then if I bought something for myself that I'd wanted for a very long time, and had to work very hard to get/make enough money to buy, of course it'd hold a lot of value because I worked so hard to get it. :)
